I have an iPhone and use Safari.
I have no trouble getting the main site on it (not the mobile version).
I also have no SparkPeople apps installed on it. Maybe that is key??

if you need your phone to display differently, you can only do it from your phone.

It's nothing to do with how you would view it using a proper computer like a laptop.

What browser are you using on your phone? I am using Chrome and I have 3 dots to tap to get a drop down whilst in the browser to check a box to use desktop or mobile version. This could easily vary depending on what you are using.

I have the bars but tapping that doesn’t seem to offer any option that matches that. What category might it be under? I’m doing this on my phone. What I have to do it from a laptop or desktop computer? Thanks for your help

Do you have something like 3 little spots or bars at the top of the page in the navigation bar?

Tap that and it should bring up a list of things, on there should be an option to choose desktop version.

Your phone will show a mobile version of SparkPeople by default. You can request the desktop version in the page settings. You might need to keep turning it back on until it realises you mean it! Mine still "forgets" sometimes.

Well, taking the phone app off didn't change what I wanted. How does the site know I found it on a phone? When I tried to just go to Spark on the web, it went straight to the nutrition tracker version I was trying to avoid! I made a mistake on it and can't figure out how to delete the foods on the phone. Oh, well. I'll just try to do most of my logging at home for the rest of the month. I don't really need to be looking at Spark when I'm out and about.

When I had the app on my phone, it wouldn't let me get to the website even when I searched for it and hit the links. They just took me right to the app. I took the app off. I haven't actually had time to test it, but I imagine it will have solved the problem, such as it was. Happy Sparking!

You are right that the phone app doesn't have all the features of the website. One way I work around this is to bookmark the actual website on my phone's home screen in case I want to get to sparkpeople that way too. I just blow it up with my fingers so I can find what I want. I also have a link to mobile.sparkpeople.com which is slightly different from either one of those. So I have 3 ways to use sparkpeople saved on my homescreen...the regular app, the mobile version and the website! When I'm away from home, I want to be able to access everything I need to keep me on track!

Highest recorded lifetime weight (non-pregnant): 03/12/2015 - 165.5 lbs

2017 Goal Weight: 137 lbs - Met that goal & entered maintenance for the LAST time on 11/10/2017

2018 Goal Weight: 132 lbs (+/- 3%)
2019 Goal Weight: 132 lbs (+/- 3%)

When I’m away from home, and I eat something, sometimes I’d like to be able to record it. When I try to go straight to the website on my phone, it automatically takes me to the app. Maybe I’ll just take the app off my phone, and see if that allows me to just use the site on the web.

Several times when I tried to access the web version from my phone, it would automatically revert to the app version. Just reporting my experience. Oh, well.

As Luann mentioned, it isn't meant to be the whole site (that would take up a ton of space as an app on your phone). For your favorites list issue, have you tried fully turning off your device and back on to see if that resolves the issue (that can sometimes reset issues with apps).

The apps are meant to be supplemental to the website, not replace it. You CAN access the main site with your phone's browser... not need to even have the app.

I find the discrepancies between the app and regular post them very annoying. Or example, today, when I tried to log nutrition using the app, I would type in a few words of an item using favorites . This would normally bring up the item on my favorites list. But that wasn’t happening automatically. I found a way to make it happen for two items, but I couldn’t do it for others. This negates the convenience of the whole process. I can’t think of the other issues now, but there’s other things that I can’t get to using the app. I guess it’s just meant to be a streamlined version and not the whole shebang.
