As you have had surgery in the past, getting suggestions can bring you harm. It will be best if you consult your doctor who will recommend an able physiotherapist to you.

Here's a link to our Limited Mobility Lifestyle Center:

All of the workouts here can be done from a seated position, so that might give you a few options.

Hi, Jen! Thanks for responding so quickly! I did talk to all my doctors, and they all said the same thing: Do what doesn't hurt. Big help. One did suggest swimming, as you have, but I don't have a pool at my disposal. To join the 'Y' or another fitness center is financially prohibitive. I am a member of Planet Fitness, which is about all I can afford at this time.

Hi Susan

I'd start by asking your doctor what exercises are safe to try and what you should avoid. If they give you the all-clear, would swimming be an option? It's a great workout that's easy on your joints.

I am unable to exercise right now, and sitting around is getting SO old! I had foot surgery in Sept. (double bunionectomy and foot reconstruction of arthritis deformity), and am STILL having pain and swelling. The surgeon told me (AFTER I had the surgery) that it could take up to a year to fully heal. Meanwhile, most likely due to walking awkwardly, the cartilage in my opposite knee has finally destroyed itself, and it is bone on bone. I will have a knee replacement, but not until my foot has healed - how could I use crutches when the necessary foot is still a mess? Walking whopperjawed has also left me with an aching back. Any suggestions for how to exercise? Walking is obviously an issue (although my favorite), getting down and up from the floor nearly impossible, going to the gym to do strength training is on the list, but there are stairs involved, blahblahblah. Can you help? Please forgive me for being such a Debbie Downer...
