I love your thinking @ENGINEERMOM. I may go that route muyself. For now, my dream is to be the older lady running races as long as I can. One of my running heroes is a Lady named Dorothy. She is in her late 70s or early 80s and has had a lot of medical issues but she it out there and doing.

I've seen them pretty frequently on the paved and crushed limestone bike trails around where I live (Lake County, IL) and in the Seattle area.

Personally, I'd prefer an upright tricycle, as I feel like they're easier to steer, plus you get the bin in the back for picnic supplies or running errands. My plan when my balance no longer allows me to ride 2-wheeled bikes is to get one so I can continue riding!

Take life one day at a time - enjoy today before you worry about tomorrow.

I don't use one, but I too have a neighbor who rides them. Ditto what MLAN said, he wears a florescent vest and has a tall flag to let driver's know he's on the road.

Honestly, considering how nuts our local drivers are, I'm surprized he rides on the streets too. It's bad enough with all the cars and other cyclists. Because of summer, the college students are riding skateboards, motorized skateboards, single wheel skate boards, etc.

I've seen these many times !

And even this one too. The roads have become a really crowded space.

Three wheel, two wheel, one wheel... it's all good !

There is one man in my area who has a recumbent bike. He is always wearing a flourescent shirt and has a tall flag attached to it. I am surprised he rides in my neighborhood because the people drive like maniacs and he is so close to the ground that he is hard to see, even with the safety measures he has and he doesn't wear a helmet.

I don't see them in my area... they are too low to the road to be sharing the road with cars and trucks.

How do you deal with that?
