Upping quality can help cut quantity. My treat is a single cup of hazelnut coffee from a local place but brewers at home. Mixed with almond milk it is absolute heaven. I don't drink it on the weekends so I can avoid caffeine headaches

I actually had to give up coffee this past December due to increasing anxiety. I drank coffee like a mad woman! It was hard at first. I was SO tired and drained.

Towards the end though, I was using stevia and Silk's almond milk creamer in my coffee. I was also drinking more expensive quality coffees that tasted better, which eliminated the need to drown it with extra stuff. I know when I was using Folgers, I felt like I need so much extra to make it to my liking. Honestly though, if you can... I'd maybe consider giving it up or maybe cutting it down to every other day. Good luck!!

I don't try to avoid it, but I have limited my intake to two cups a day (occasionally 3 cups). I drink half caff so 2 cups a day isn't bad at all. I used to drink 4-5 cups of full strength Colombian coffee every day, but started having trouble sleeping. I then decreased that to 2-3 cups a day. After a while, I started using half caff and found I enjoy that just as much as regular (I mix Colombian and decaf together to make my half caff). Now, it's 2 cups of half caff a day.

I don't think I'll ever avoid it completely unless I need to for my health or coffee just becomes too expensive. I enjoy that first cup with breakfast just too much to eliminate it completely.

Sore Today. Stronger (and Thinner) Tomorrow.

The world is a much better place when I am well caffeinated. Thankfully I have always preferred it black. I've been buying coffee from the same small roaster for 35 years - never found another as good.

I have the exact same problem. If I start my day with coffee I end up falling off the wagon of healthy eating no matter what. Then again, I can't drink straight coffee - I put tons of creamer and sugar in it.

So now I'm starting my morning with a protein fruit smoothie that fills me up and I don't make coffee. Its working much better.

Herbal tea seems to be a good alternative if I want something hot because I can drink that without adding anything to it.

Good luck! Once you give it up for good you'll feel much better.

I was drinking 10-12 cups a day and just quit cold turkey about 10 days ago. First 3 days were miserable, but now I feel great. It's totally worth it. Just make sure you have enough Tylenol to get you through the first few days because you will have a bad headache.

I had to give up coffee when I gave up sugar (I don't use any sorts of sweeteners). I absolutely cannot drink coffee without sugar. I was drinking tea for a while but had to give that up when I gave up caffeine. If you need caffeine you might try tea (with no added sweetener). It helped me to get over sugar cravings when i was just giving up sugar and it has practically no calories.

I'm not sure if you're asking how to make the coffee have less calories or how to quit coffee, so I'll answer both. For the former, you could try switching to stevia instead of sugar. All-natural and 0 calories. It does have a slight aftertaste and can be a little pricey. Avoid artificial sweeteners like the plague. They do really bad things to your body. Maybe try switching from cream to half-and-half. It's about 40 calories. I'm not sure how much cream has. Non-fat milk actually has more at 80 cals and won't do much in your coffee. If you're looking to quit coffee, or caffeine in general, here's what I did. From about 2-3 cups a day, I would have one cup of regular, then dilute the second cup with decaf. When I got down to one cup a day, I did the same. Then I switched to two cups of black tea for a while, then one cup black and one green (green tea has less caffiene than black), then two cups of green, then one cup regular green and one cup decaf, until I went completely decaffeinated. And what you can do with tea that you can't do with coffee is switch the cream and sugar out for honey and lemon, both of which have many health benefits (as does tea). Obviously if you just want to quit coffee but not caffeine entirely, you'd skip some of those steps. I only ever started drinking coffee to begin with because it supposedly burned calories. It doesn't. And from there I got addicted. I don't even like coffee! Lol. But maybe you do. ☺☕🍵 In which case, try my first suggestion. Good luck with whatever technique you use.

I love my morning cup so much that I work my calories around it. I like mine sweet and with coconut creamer so it "costs" me 120 calories but I make sure to put it in first thing and work around it. It means that much to me lol.

i've never cared for coffee but i have similar triggers that i have to stat TOTALLY away from.
Could you switch to tea to get the caffeine, but have it without milk and sugar? i find when i switched my trigger food for something along the same lines i no longer had the problem!

I only drink one cup a day, for breakfast. What might help you with the calories is to use Truvia sweetner instead of sugar. I am a major sugar addicted and I switched to Truvia (taste the most like sugar) about a year ago and it is 5 calories for 1/2 tsp. I don't need to use as much to get the sweetness in my coffee, so I just use a teaspoon. Good Luck! I also use 1% milk as my creamer.

Coffee seems to be my problem right now. I can stay under my calorie limit . . . unless I give in and have a cup of coffee (with cream and sugar). After that, I seem to fall off the wagon and eat things I shouldn't.

This seems ridiculous, but I love coffee and can't figure out why satisfying that craving would wreck the rest of the day. Any suggestions?
