If I don't take the first bite, I'm usually okay with anything. Even treats in the pantry for my husband don't bother me unless I decide to have some.

M&M's were a trigger for me years ago. It was clearly related to hormonal cycles for me. Since entering menopause that trigger is non-existent. No desire for them at all. I do eat high quality cacao or dark chocolate on occasion in very small quantities.

Chips are a huge trigger for my husband. Years ago, he asked me not to purchase them anymore. I had no trouble ignoring them. Once he opened the bag, it was all over. He'd sit in front of the TV mindlessly eating chips and before he knew it most (if not all) of the bag was gone. We have not had chips in our home for years. I don't think either one has had a chip pass our lips in years either.

We hare both happy with our healthy foods. Very nourishing and satisfying.

I should stop reading this thread. :D

If it's in the house, it's fair game, so I leave in the grocery store! Thankfully, meat snacks and Good Earth Tea take care of my salt and sugar wants.

Oh yes, chips is difficult for me too!
The only way i can eat it without getting trouble is measuring a portion on kitchen scale, and eat it as part of a planned meal, with protein and vegetables, like eggs and broccoli.
As an unplanned snack... no way, I'll end up eating the whole bag, just like you said!

I am the same. I love chips. I can't have them in the house. If I buy a bag I eat a bag, usually in one sitting and it doesn't matter how big the bag is. They are my absolute trigger.

Anything sweet usually is a trigger for me to overeat that item--like a piece of cake or candy. I call it the 'oh, well' complex because once I start, it's never-ending as in oh well, I'll start again tomorrow). I'm working on that, lol.

Try DARK chocolate. If you like it, it's more satisfying with less sugar. Tends not to trigger that craving for more, more, more.

For me, triggers include salty/crunchy snacks and sweets. Usually have to alternate the two, once I get going, until I'm darned near sick of one or the other.

Dairy and bread are iffy. Not a reliable trigger, but a danger zone.

sometime I get a brand ( sorry I can't think of it), It might be Alta Dena. It is a full fat yougurt with cream and real maple sugar. However, I eat it in a fancy tiny wine glass. I make it last 3-5 servings.

If you are asking me what are my trigger foods, they are primarily foods with a high fat content. When I have them I have to be hyper aware of what I am doing so I do not eat lots of them. I could make a list but I don't want to get anyone else started.

Potato chips. I don’t buy them because I have no self control once the bag is open.

Pizza is tricky too. When I make pizza I make it just big enough for one serving otherwise it’s too hard to stop.

Strongest are milk chocolate and nutella - they instantly cause cravings so I never eat them.
White bread and pasta are weaker triggers, I can often get away with eating a small portion, but better leave them alone.

Edit:
I just researched nutella ingredients and understood why it is such a trigger for me!
I had thought it was mostly hazelnuts and cocoa... wrong!
Nutella website:
nice pictures show ingredients in this order: sugar, palm oil, hazelnuts, coca powder, milk, lecithin, vanillin.
www.nutella.com/en/uk/the-7-ingredients

OK, that means more sugar and more vegetable oil than hazelnuts and cocoa... but how much? 55% sugar! Hazelnuts 13%, cocoa powder 4.7%.
And milk chocolate is quite similar (1 cal = 4.2 kilojoules)
