> BUT yesterday I ate a burger and this morning the scale showed it. Damn

Late reply, but the initial weight you regain on a diet (from carbohydrates, at least) may be water weight, specifically glycogen, which is stored in your muscle and liver. You're not regaining fat. Since glycogen is water-soluble, when you increase your glycogen storage, you retain more water, leading to "rapid" weight gain.

If you're on a low carb diet, though, a burger is fine. The protein and fat in the burger curb appetite. It's the simple carbohydrates in the bun -- and fries -- that increase your appetite, leading to weight gain. Eat burgers inside the house, not outside, and don't forget the carmelized onions and mushrooms!

That burger will only have caused the scale to show increased weight because:

1) higher sodium diet than usual
2) It hasn't come out the other end!

Don't let ONE MEAL cloud your mind. Sometimes that one so-called 'bad' meal can actually help us because it reduces the chances of our getting bored or feeling deprived.

Personally, I need to lose about 5% and stay there before I really notice a change. I think it totally depends on where your genetics have decided you carry your weight--LOL-- and what sort of clothing you choose. I wear looser clothing, so others don't notice as soon as I can *feel* a difference...tighter muscle definition, less floaty bloating in the abdominal region, etc...

It's such an individual thing.

Some people see dramatic changes in just a week or two (usually those who are decreasing salt and see big changes from losing that excess water weight).

For others, it can take weeks or months.

Instead of trying to see a change every day, set aside a pair of pants or dress that fits snugly, and try it on once per week or every other week. It's hard to see incremental change when you're in the middle of it, but can be easier when you're looking less frequently.

Take life one day at a time - enjoy today before you worry about tomorrow.

Looks fine to me. So long as at least one indicator shows progress, you're making progress.

If your clothes don't seem to feel looser, have your partner check by placing his fingers along your waistline. If his hands end up on your butt, you're good. :D

Hi Auna Vista, you mentioned that I send you the 28 Days diet plan, here's the link. It is a Facebook page. If you don't see it just scroll down. Some say it's a fad others say, no.

Looking forward hearing comments. Annalie m.facebook.com/28daygauteng/

My BMI says overweight, too .... JUST. My Dr doesn't want me going below 70kg (just over 154lb). You have to remember, BMI is only a rough guide.

Why don't you get your body fat measured before trying to lose more weight? Most gyms will do this for a small fee. Just make sure that they use skin-fold calipers, AND whoever does it is properly qualified to do so. You might find that rather than weight-loss, you might just need muscle toning exercises, particular for the core area. That can actually give the appearance of having dropped a couple dress sizes (helps your eyes and then your husband's eyes emoticon )

You must also remember that just because you *FEEL* unhealthy, doesn't mean that you are!!!

Losing a pound is a bit like taking a piece of paper towel off of a roll of paper towels. At the start of the roll it takes multiple sheets to get a layer off. At the end of the roll, one sheet goes around multiple times. The other thing that comes into play as you get closer to your goal weight is how you are doing it. If you are minimizing your deficit and maximizing your muscle retention, your shape will get smaller. If you are maximizing your deficit and losing a higher percentage of muscle then your weight will go down but your measurements won't change as much. For someone already at a healthy weight gaining muscle mass (and sometimes weight) can be the path to the smaller shape that they want. There are a lot of variables here.

-google first. ask questions later.

4lb when I started really meant nothing in the way I looked AND felt... I fluctuated by more than that each day.

Do you use the Nutrition Tracker? If so, if you edit your SparkPage to enable us to see it would be helpful, but remember, at the weight that you are currently, any weightloss will be slow. Just because you can't see or feel it doesn't mean that things aren't happening.

Another thing to consider - at your current weight, do you actually NEED to lose any weight????

I really couldn't tell a difference until I've dropped 10#, but then I always lose weight in my upper chest area first, so my shirt size gets smaller before any pants size.

Just stay with what you are doing.

Hello, Annalie!!! emoticon

Everyone's body changes at different rates. Some people even have problems with it, but try to keep at it, since they know getting healthier is the best they can do for themselves. So I would say hang in there, and wait it out. If you quit, you won't know!

As far as your eating plan, I say share it here! This is a great chance to hear what the dietician thinks of it, and if she has any special advice for you. It may be something you need to know! Of course, other people will chime in, that's gonna happen. But really pay attention to what the dietician thinks, because she's the expert, okay?

I wish you the best! emoticon emoticon

Hallo, I am following a fitness and eating plan (diet ?) and I wondered how soon will I be able to see a difference? My jean is still fitting as before! I'm trying hard not to get discourage but... I have lost 4 pounds so far.

Is it possible that I can send the eating plan I follow to you? It will be interesting to know what you think of it. Maybe it's a fad diet? There are a lot of positive reviews but also negative ones.

Thank you. Annalie emoticon
