JERF ...
The reason is lactose. Parmesean has basically no lactose. Cream and butter are mostly fat, although cream has some lactose in it, but you probably don't use much at a time. Unaged cheeses, like cream cheese, cottage cheese ... higher in lactose! Aged cheeses (like Paremesean or cheddar) have little or no lactose left in them. Milk and icecream ... full of lactose! Bloating, gassy hotspots!

You might still be quite sensitive to lactose, and you could try taking lactaid or generic version of that before/with the dairy products.

Interesting!

Personally, I detest cottage cheese. I like almost every kind of food, but that's one thing that will literally make me gag. The only way I can tolerate it is either blended into a smoothie, or as a substitute for ricotta in lasagna (cheaper and easier to find).

I truly enjoy Knudsen reduced fat cottage cheese and plunk the contents of a small Del Monte brand can of peaches on top (50 calories). I do the cottage cheese by the 1/2 cup serving size.

All things are possible.

It was all over the place back in KS, but since moving to Aus, in 2011, nope. It either doesn't exist here or it's very difficult to find.

It’s always been a thing where live. It’s really high in protein.

Unfortunately I can’t eat certain dairy foods as they cause me digestive issues, bloating, gas, constipation (cheese, milk, cream cheese, cottage cheese). But for some reason butter and heavy cream are okay and a small amount of yogurt or a sprinkle of a good aged Parmesan are okay.

I buy Breakstone's LiveActive for digestive health. I sprinkle a little organic cayenne pepper on for a little extra kick. It comes in a four pack, so stays fresher longer.

If you like it that is great. It also has enzymes and is good for your gut health

There are two things that I loathe.
One is Winter!
The second are people who act like they are perfect. Especially when it comes to their diet.

Love cottage cheese! ;) I also buy the lower sodium version (doesn't even taste low sodium). I eat it with fruit or plain.

DH and I both love cottage cheese. I have to buy it every week for DH. I can't eat more than a spoonful, due to dairy intolerance, but I would if I could!

I like cottage cheese! Last week, I made whole wheat noodles, added cottage cheese, vegetables and spaghetti sauce. Yum.

I agree, cottage cheese is a very comforting food that somehow I had forgotten about. It is so good with a large variety of fruits and vegetables. Thanks for reminding me about good old cc.

I remember cottage cheese as a popular dieter's option in the 70s. Well it is becoming more relevant again because of its protein. I love it. I just had the lower sodium 2% fat version with lite bread toast and blackberries. Yum. I seek a feeling of well being from my meals, and hey cottage cheese is good for that.
