Thanks so much Bob and Eliza!!!

I'm on the central coast in CA... if you put your finger on the map about halfway between LA and SF, you'd be pretty close!!! We live inland from the coast and are blessed with beautiful weather most of the year.

emoticon Monica! What perfect timing to come back before your boys were born; I'm sure it made a significant difference. My parents did not tell be about Christ or any religion because they wanted me to make up my own mind. It did not work out for me well. I spent too many years in sin. I found out about Christ as an adult and always wished I had Him while I was growing up. My daughter has been raised in church and her life has been so much better than mine was at her age.

Blessings, Diana

Hi... my name is Monica. I'm a cradle Catholic that was really raised outside of the faith, for the most part. I came back to the Church about 25 years ago... just a few years before my boys were born. Married with two boys in college.

emoticon Michelle! I know what you mean about it being harder (age related, I'm retired) to lose weight now. I was stuck until I adopted a husky from the shelter and she just walks me to death. Get those dogs sparking it up on some walks. I have noticed I have to eat less now and more balanced with fruits and veggies and it is still slow. I would love to buddy up with you and encourage each other. emoticon to the faith. This time I have concentrated more on my spiritual journey than on my weight loss and it seems to be working better for me.

Hi,

My name is Michelle. I've been using Sparkpeople off and on since it started in 2001 (when you actually paid for the service!).
My husband of 20 years and I share a home with our 3 dogs (2 of which also need to lose weight!) and just came back to the Catholic Faith about 6 years ago. We unfortunately don't have children of our own but have a wonderful Parish where everyone is family.
I need help and encouragement losing about 70 lbs. It used to be fairly easy for me to lose weight but even with eating right I have trouble now.

You understand me. I have been on Sparkpeople since 2015 and the religious teams just don't seem very inviting or friendly. I have belonged to Catholic Critters in the past and found that this team is the best...as a Roman Catholic.

I am going to check out the CatholicCity.com website! emoticon

It is sad to think about your old parish closing down due to low attendance. We need a real revival in the Catholic Church today. A revival that produces a close relationship with Jesus and the parishioners tell and show others about the faith. I think it could start with earnest, persistent, prayer. I was telling my daughter when I was in high school my best friend was Catholic and she never talked about it. I had no teaching in any type of faith and really could have used someone to connect me to God. Instead, she was just like everyone else in my public school and that is not a complement. When I was in my mid to late twenties I found out about Jesus though a television ministry and he changed my life forever. I married a Catholic and we have raised our daughter in the faith. Now she is researching ways to share her faith and recently found CatholicCity.com.

Iím sorry to hear that you donít always have a ride to Mass but am grateful we have so many other ways to connect with church due to technology. It is not the same as going to mass but it is edifying. Life has a way of forcing us to adapt to new circumstance in our life. Jesus will be with you every step. I donít recognize your link but I know there are many. My husband likes EWTN on the computer. My daughter and I love going to mass and receiving the sacraments. Iím sure what you are saying in church is perfect to our Lord. Maybe there is a parish that can bring the Eucharist to you. You will be in my prayers.

I am re-introducing myself..

I am a confirmed Roman Catholic. Played the organ at Mass for 20 years. Due to poor attendance, the church was shut down..

Years have past and I relocated. Now I attend Mass when I have a ride there (I don't have a car). When I don't have a ride, I participate on-line at thesundaymass.org

I have found the new Mass rituals hard to follow, for example, different ways of saying things. I just cannot learn them. I just quietly say the way I know hoping not to feel out-of-place. How about you? They have those laminated cards in the pew... I guess I am just old-fashioned.

Anyway, joining once again!

Hi All--

I am new to this team. I am a devout Catholic. I teach small children Catechism and love it.

Unfortunately, I am divorced and have never been blessed with children of my own. I am looking for a position where I could teach in a Parochial school for a living. I have been an engineer for many many years, but I feel called to work with children.

I have a devotion to the Blessed Mother and am looking into joining a lay order.

Hello Everyone,

When I single and was praying for a Christian husband; I specifically requested that he not be Catholic because I didn't really know much about them. I have been married to a devout Catholic for over twenty years. This development has always made me think God has a sense of humor. Our family (myself, daughter, & hubby) loves God and is trying to stay fit. I look forward to meeting everyone!

Blessings, Diana

I've been here once before and thought to myself I want to come back. My name is Darlene if you remember me. I'm the one moved to Tacoma after my husband passed away in 2005. And I live in a one bedroom apartment along with my youngest daughter and her family. I've been a Catholic for amost 2 years now this coming March the day before Mother Angelica passed away. And I love it.

Hi, I am here to track my foods. I do ok on my weight, just a few more pounds to go to be at my goal. I am retired, not to much to say. I have been blessed with a great husband and kids. I spend my time taking care of my family, a garden and exercising. I had alway ben chubby, now I am close to my goal and I feel good. I have a mother, who is 96, prays novenas and many rosaries daily. So I guess you could call me Catholic Lite as I only pray one rosary a night.

Hi, I joined because I need to lose weight and it's harder now that I'm closer to 60 than I am 50. I'm a Christian and Catholic, but I honestly have not taken my walk with God as seriously as I should have until the past year. I am married and have two children.

Hi, guys, my name is Madison. I guess I am what you call a cradle Catholic. My faith is something I am very passionate about in my life. I was confirmed in 2010 and was named after St.Elmo also known as St.Erasmus. Just like you Bob I am very dedicated to serving in my parish at St.Viator here in Las Vegas, Nevada. I usually right now would be serving with the youth ministry volunteers and being a regular youth band member at the 5 pm Mass. I had other things planned to start this year. As you all know life happens. I became too sick to go to Mass but have Communion served to me every Sunday. Through having possible Liver Cancer I have learned to love myself for the way God made me and to not give up on my faith like before I would have when things go to hard. I look forward to being connected to other Catholics and learning from you guys along the way.

Hi! I'm another that has been here before (more than 3 times!) then I have a flare-up with my health, get discouraged and delete my account just to turn around and try again. This last time was just a few months ago. First, I want to apologize because I've gotten so much help and offers of friendship here, yet I haven't been a very dependable friend or team member. I'm honestly sorry for this. Secondly, this really will be it! I realize this is a lifelong battle and I need Sparkpeople and most importantly this team to help me win the battle. I'm sorry I left before finishing the Novena, but I did continue to pray for each of you. This is a new commitment to you, to myself..if I have a health flare-up I will let you know and not delete my account.

MARY IS AN APOSTLE

Every apostolate is a radiating of Jesus Christ;
it is to give something, if we can use the expression,
to give something of Jesus Christ....
Mary gave us the whole Christ, Way, Truth, and Life.
She is the Apostle empowered by God.

The task of the Virgin Mother is to gradually bring about
the birth of Jesus and to form Jesus
in all those who should conform to the image of her Son.

Mary will form Jesus Christ in everyone. This means becoming Christians,
apostles, saints.

Hi Alicia. I'm glad you came back to Spark, and I'm especially glad that you've joined our team. It's hard to beat those old habits. But we can do it with commitment and friendship. I've been up and down, too, but I'm hoping this time I'm not just interested but also committed. I have some health concerns and if I can get a healthy life plan in place, and stick to it as best I can, I can keep those concerns from becoming my reality.

Here's to us... emoticon

Hi there, my name is Alicia.

This year (2017) is the year for me as in October I am turning 60 and this is the last time that I want to go up and down the yo-yo scale. Over the years I have reached my goal of 130 more times than I can count but I have never stayed there mostly because I let the old lazy 'who cares' habits slip back into my life. I do the 'all or nothing' thing and before I know it I am 10 more pounds higher than when I started the journey. I have made some amazingly great habits of walking every morning first thing from spring to fall. Making all my recipes from WW or Spark People as well as the desserts from these two sites and yet I have thrown them out as well. Now I have put the focus on being heartburn free and that has made all the difference. I track to be so and to avoid taking over the counter meds for it.

I have been a member 3 times of Spark People, deleting the first two accounts when I have thrown in the towel yet again. This last time is the last time and I joined October 2, 2014. This time I am never deleting my account first and foremost because of the wonderful Spark Friends that I have and second because I am sticking with the for the long haul. With the Lords help I will reach my goal and stay there. I have been a member of this team before and realized that I have missed this team and have re-joined it too and plan to not leave it anymore either.

My Spark name is Coeuraimant which is two french words - Coeur which is heart and Aimant which is Loving which translates to Loving Heart and that is my focus to both myself and everyone I meet.

Welcome, Michelle. We share a similar background. I've been back in the church for about 12 years now. I finally know what the Catholic faith is about! I'll never leave again!

Hi my name is Michelle. I was raised Catholic, left the faith, "got saved", read my bible and returned to Catholicism. I love God, Mary and all the saints. I pray the rosary every day and commit all that I am to Him who made heaven and earth. Bless you all!

Hi - I'm Jo Ann

I joined a few months ago, but I'm finally posting now.

I'm a convert. I completed RCIA in 2013. Interesting fact is that my husband is a convert as well.

I live in Michigan in the Metro Detroit area with my husband and son (8.5).

My husband and I are both on our weight loss journey together.

I am almost at 20lbs lost since October 2016.

Mostly, I'm focused on reaching my 175 goal first, then I'll think more about getting into the 145 - 150 range.

Baby steps. Focusing on the smaller chunks.

Anyway - glad I'm on sparkpeople and I love the supports that it has in place.

I've learned so much and am grateful for all the tools. Especially the nutrition tracker.

I can't believe how "off" I was with a lot of my portions and food choices.

Nice to meet and get to know other "catholic critters".

Hope everyone has a great day!

You have to make this year a priority. You can do it. I have had to do over many times, but I renew my resolutions monthly, and do a check point to see where I am. Then I make changes to my program.

Another year, another diet. I set a resolution to loose weight every year since 2000, but never loose enough weight to make it to maintenance. I actually have been getting heavier even though I stay on my chosen diet for the year and then transition to another diet. I have 125 pounds to loose.

Have a blessed Solemnity of Mary and a happy New Year.

Hello! I have been on Sparkpeople for 5 or 6 yrs -- it goes so fast! Have not lost any appreciable weight, but have learned a lot about myself and my body's needs. Made some great friends, too! I am on one small, private team and the larger one for my region. Trying to expand my faith, so it was cool to find this team! We all have something to share and learn from each other.

I am a cradle Catholic, did Catechism in the 50's, attended Catholic HS for Jr. and Sr. year, married in the Church, baptized my 3 kids, got them through the Sacraments and now only 1 is a regular attendee. My son did not get married in the Church and only one of his kids is baptized -- not a Catholic! I, myself, had fallen away for many years, but was a music minister when I did attend. Recently left my "home" church because of disagreements and politics within the parish. Still searching for the right place for me. Hubby has discovered that none of his "Catholic upbringing" has "taken hold." So we have lots of discourse!

I was in a Bible-based weight loss program once. Anyone else try that? "Weight Down" by Gwen somebody.

I did not introduce myself...I live in El Paso, TX born and raised, Mom used to go to a church "Our Lady of the Valley" I did attend 1st holy communion classes with the Jesuits, then
I went to a all girls high school...Loretto Academy for 4 years, wearing a uniform that I really loved and, riding the bus till I got my drivers license.. emoticon

I was given a new car when I graduated and, then one day leaving Moms house I was hit by a drunk driver..he totaled the new car. I did break windshield with my head and blacked out on the steering wheel..but I was lucky I did not break my neck..I was not able to move my neck side to side and, had a bad headache. emoticon

I have been attending the Traditional Latin Mass for maybe 10 years now. emoticon

I did rest for a long time (therapy) and now I am ok.......thank the good LORD...I am afraid to drive but, once I get in the car and go I am fine...it is the other guys I have to watch..
hugs! emoticon
I love to collect angels.

All the best with your healthy goals, Halee.

Kimi - what a great attitude regarding your distance from your home parish and your decision to treat it as a sacrifice.

Hi, I am Kim. I am currently staying at my mom's house to care for her (2+ years), and am away from my home parish, but have been able to be of service at the parish close to my mom's house - I am an extraordinary minister. I was at morning Mass in my home parish yesterday and got the distinct feeling that being away from my home parish that I love so much is a sacrifice that I can offer to God.

I am a graduate student, working on the final 12 units in a masters program to become a counselor as a marriage and family therapy (MSC/MFT). I want more than anything to be able to be of service as a Catholic Family Therapist, but I don't know if God is calling me to do that. I love being able to serve God as a Catholic woman, in any capacity.

Thank you for having this team. Even though I am not on SP as often as I could be, I do look forward to meeting you all. God bless you.

In the love of the Two Hearts

Hello! My name is FITNESSGRAD! I think this team will be very good for me.

I am a confirmed Catholic. However, I really do not go to Mass anymore. But, I do pray. I do not have to be in a religious building to pray to God. God is everywhere.

The team forums will hold me accountable which is good. Also, fellowship with others will keep me up to date with church matters.

It cannot hurt to join this team, right? If anything, I will learn.

Thank you!

Hi there, I am rhook20047 - Bob- married to my wife Margaret (40 years on 8/6) with two adult sons Chris (33) and Brad (30). Chris is a Podiatrist and Brad is a lawyer. Chris lives with us as live has dealt him some bad deals, but he is making the best of it.

I am most active in my church. Most recently I have gotten involved in the A.C.T.S. movement in our church. I am a team member for this year's retreat, and will be co-director next year God willing.

I am a cradle Catholic as is my wife, and our boys were raised Catholic and both active in the church. I studied for the Permanent Diaconate but had to leave due to health reasons. Very active in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the Knights of Columbus. Soon to be retired where I hope that I can actually spend time working for the church which gives me the most sense of accomplishment.

Let Go and Let God!

I can start our new introduction thread off, if you like ...

For those who don't know me, I'm cjbaggins - Cheryl - and I'm one of the Leaders of this Team and I live in Canada.

I have been married to my husband for 26 years now, and we have three adult children - Danielle (22), Edward (20) and Suzie (18).

All three still live at home, for the next couple of weeks anyway. August 1st, my younger daughter, Suzie, travels to our capital city (Ottawa) to begin training for her Canadian missionary trip with NET Canada (National Evangelization Team).

I can't believe my baby will be the first one to leave home, lol!

I was born in England, and baptized and raised Anglican. After being married for a few years, I converted to Catholicism as I thought, if I was Christian, I should be in the Church that Christ Himself founded!
