Welcome Back... I am also a lifer. 20+ years.. And it is always good to have other lifers to chat with.
At this point I am at a straight 3.mg a day.. Last reading was high.. I had to drop from 4.0 every other day to a straight three..
I agree with the greens being problematic with balancing weight-loss and blood-thinners..

I vary from 5.0 mg to 6.0 mg per day. I usually take it in the evening so if changes are made during the day because of my blood work, i won't have already taken it for that day.

I rarely stay stable for more than 3 weeks at a time. Right now I take 5.0 1 day a week and 6.0 6 days a week. My stable is an INR of 3.4 ... when I was stable at 2.4 (which is a more normal number) I had a clot in my other leg. My clots were in both legs 1 month apart.

Wow that is a lot. I alternate 7.5 and 10 mg. My doctor likes me to be 2.5 to 3, but I seem to always get down the 1.6 once a month of so. I try to just stay away from the greens, but man I was a huge green eater before I was diagnosed and it is so hard. I have put on weight because I eat more carbs and bad stuff. I feel so restricted. emoticon

Thank you and it's fun to have people to chat with that have the same concerns. May I ask you and whoever else wants to respond, what dosage of coumadin that you take? I have been worried that my blood is very resistant and it's very hard to keep my PT/INR level. Let me know. Thanks.

Thanks. I'm a lifer too and I go to the doctor weekly also. Its been such a change for me, but I'm dealing with it. It keeps me alive. Can't argue with that. Glad to be here.

Welcome to our team. I am a lifer on coumadin since Jan 07 ... with lots of ups and downs and weekly blood work. I'm used to it and now it's just part of my life routine. Glad to see you here.

Hello, my name is Amanda and I'm glad I found this team. I have been on Coumadin since June 07, because I have a very rare blood disease called Prothrombin Gene Mutation and have blood clots in several major veins in my abdomen. Its been a learning experience and working out and eating correctly is my most difficult problem that I have being on blood thinners.
