Welcome, and congratulations on your pregnancy! I just gave birth to a healthy baby girl after developing a DVT and acute bilateral PEs in July (while 9 weeks pregnant) and being on Lovenox for my pregnancy (until about 36 weeks when I was switched to Heparin injections 3x/day). The injections were definitely no fun, but I had my last injection yesterday and am now on Coumadin.

Hope your pregnancy continues going well for you!

Ruthie,
So sorry to hear about your clots & issues. I am however VERY happy to hear you're OFF the coumadin. I was on it during the 1st 4 mos of my pregancy (37 yrs ago) and my son was born with multi-challanges. He's hydrocephalic, CP, blind in one eye, and developed scoliosis years later. At age 13 I had him evaluated at Boston Children's and they told me his disabilities were caused from the coumadin. Most of them were symptoms of "Warfarin Embriopathy", which was a very rare birth defect at that time (only 4 other children diagnosed then, but many more now).

He's doing well today, he's going on 37 and lives in a group home. He has his difficulties, but is the love of my life and always has been.

Hope all goes well w/you & baby, CONGRATS!
pstensen!

Congratulations and may God bless you and your family. Thank goodness for insurance, the cost of medical care is out of control.

Hi! My name is Ruthie and I was diagnosed with DVTs and multiple pulmonary emboli in July. I was on coumadin, but then got unexpectedly pregnant in August (my husband and I are very happy) - so I now have to be on the injectable 2x daily Lovenox for the next year probably. Thank goodness for insurance, since it costs $5,000 per month -- but I only have to pay a $40 copay each month!
