Hello! I just started SP and trying to navigate through all the sites and become comfortable with all the forums recommended for me. I am new to "forums" and I am hoping it will help me stay motivated! I need to lose 20+ lbs. I live in san jose area and excited to see SJ people on here :)

Hey ladies set up a time to meet at the campbell track or vasona both are excellent for walking. There are also great gyms in the area.

I'm here to tell you that you CAN do it. I'm down 97lbs. I do it eating a balanced diet and exercising. My food plan is pretty close to the South Beach Diet, Supercharged. I eat pretty low carb and the carbs I DO eat are "good" carbs. Nothing white or processed. In other words Whole grains only, but in limitations. I eat a lot of meat and veggies ans a bit of fruit. I treat myself once in a while with a bite or two of the "naughty" food though, so I'm not left feeling too deprived.

Hi Natasha,
I am working on the same magnitude of weight loss goals that you are. I am 61 year old grandmother -- and I would be interested in knowing if there are any groups getting together in San Jose for working out. Heck, Id be happy to meet up with someone for a walk ! I work full time, so weekends would work out the best for me.

One step at a time with both the weight loss and the site...there is lots here, and it is easy to get lost!

Try not to let the site overwhelm you too much. Even months in, I find more things I didn't know about. Each of us finds our own starting point that works for us.

I started with the three trackers on the Start Page - Nutrition, Fitness, and Weight. Without changing what I was eating, I just started figuring out how to find foods and record them, how to figure how the amounts. Without getting into any major fitness program, I went walking and recorded that, did 10 minutes of dancing and recorded that. And I both weighed myself and took some measurements.

If all that sounds like too much, you might want to consider starting with some Fast Break Goals. Click on My Tracker at the top left and go to Other Goals. The last category on the page is Fast Break Goals. Click the button to Add/Remove Fast Break Goals. Look through the three categories and see if any of those goals sound like something you'd like to do and that you believe you can do. Once you've picked one to three goals, they will show up on that same page and you can track your progress on them.

No, not all those goals will directly help you lose weight, but sometimes the first step is just getting comfortable here, learning how to use the tools, and getting a little more active than you have been.

If there are any groups, I don't actually know about them. There are a few people in the first forum section looking for others - one near Campbell, one near Evergreen. I personally go to a gym downtown daily after work.

Hello all my name is Natasha and I'm new to this site. So far I'm a bit overwhelmed with the site not really sure how to use it just yet. However I'm trying to lose about 100lbs so if any member has any great tips I'm more than eager to hear them. Are there any groups that meet in San Jose to do group workouts?
