Thanks for the welcome. I used to watch my mom crochet beautiful things with thread when I was little. She stopped crocheting when I was 4. Years later I taught myself from a little booklet that was published by a yarn company--I don't evenremember which one-- when I was tired of knitting! viv

Hi! Is this where we introduce ourselves? I have been a happy hooker for ymore years than I wish to admit I have to my credit, and I find crocheting a great deterrent to eating, nail biting stressing and has the added advantage of producing something one can wear, give to friends, donate to charity or sell to produce income to buy more yarn!

Hi, my name is Jean. I joined Spark People because I got on the scale yesterday and gained another @15 lbs with no real explanation as to why. I just had my thyroid checked in August, so it shouldn't be that, but I may have to have some bloodwork done again. *shudder*

I taught myself to crochet about 17 years ago. I mainly crochet afghans/throws (I'm known for them), but have also done scarves, shawls, and lace gloves. Crochet is my stress relief and I love doing it. My husband considers it magic and our room-mate has asked me to teach him some day in the future. I've tried learning knitting and just can't seem to get the hang of it - or I'm just not patient enough. :)

Anyway, I'm the mother of a 19-y/o daughter and the wife of a fantasy artist. Needless to say, I am the major breadwinner. I also manage my husband's company when I'm not working my full-time job in the financial market. I have health issues that have caused the majority of my weight gain that I have used as an excuse for not losing weight for years.

Today's the day...something has got to change.
