GBLUEHERON It sounds like you are off to a great start with tracking your food and way to go on biking to work. I love biking but biking to work would be quite far for me every day! It is only 20 miles 1 way on a very bad highway. Maybe some day when I am a wee bit closer. :)

MZMEGGS There is tons of support on this team, head on over to the general chat and there are always usually people talking about something or another everyone is willing to offer suggestions or just are there to hang out and talk to. PS we can definitely do this.

Thanks for the welcome and I'm so glad to see all the activity here. Feel free to add me as a friend. I need all the support I can get because not many people in my life outside of "computer-land" understand or support my lifestyle changes. lol

We can ALL do this! emoticon

I've been on this site before...hope I stick with it this time. Right now I'm focusing on tracking everything I eat...I hope that seeing how much I'm consuming will motivate me more. Spring is here soon and I'll be riding my bike to work much more.

Hello and welcome to the team everyone! Feel free to take a look around and join in what ever you need to keep you motivated this is one of the best teams I have found that uses numerous programs that uses people to help other people stay motivated.

MZMEGGS hello & welcome you can do it just take it one day at a time.

Jenn hello and welcome, we just went on break for the biggest loser so should be starting soon again. Check it out I am sure you can join in when we start again.

DIVA2279 Hello and welcome, there are a lot of people looking for buddies here so check out the chats and you are bound to make some new friends.

CECELIA2012 hello and welcome, Yes we can do it!

REMAINUNBROKEN Hello and welcome, Life can be challenging at times and eating healthy when everything is crazy is not always easy I so know what you are talking about I tend to do good when I have a fairly consistent schedual but when life gets busy tend to slack off on eating heathy. I have found that keeping healthier foods in my car has helped me stay on track. For instance I use easy mac, tuna and peas and make a hot dish in the microwave. It may not be the healthiest thing in the world but it is still better then McDonald or any other fast food joint and if by chance there is something better on the menu I like I am not worried about wasting food. There are other simple little things that will work too it just takes some figuring out.

JMC1172 hello and welcome to the team. I love you enthusiasm and excitement. You will go far with that attitude keep it up!

MICHGAL38 hello and welcome to the team, hope you found so good stuff when you were out exploring, if you have any suggestions feel free to let me know and I will pass it along.

SLAYER7577 Hello and welcome, Just take things one day at a time it will come with time Make some small goals and shoot for them once you reach them add in some more before long you will be making and reaching larger goals. Trust me i hated making goals did not see a point but have learned a lot from them so have found that baby steps work well for me. You can and will do this and there is so much support here.

THIMS214 hello and welcome.

LADYTARI Thanks so much for giving the team so much support and motivation!

Hello everybody! I'm a 34 yr. old mom of two boys - and have been overweight pretty much my entire life. I've been on every diet out there and can't seem to keep it off. This is the most I've ever weighed and so tired of it. I can't do it anymore! I have to loose this weight and keep it off - not only for myself, but also for my two young kids.
I hate having my picture taken because I'm so embarrassed of myself. My 5 yr. old son asked me the other day why there are no pictures of me with him and his brother.. It broke my heart. There are no pictures of me and my boys! I didn't know how to explain it to him and I don't want to!
I need help and know that I can't do it all alone.
I am excited and overwhelmed right now.
:-)

Hello all! Just starting today, need to lose 100+ pounds, am 38, so this is definitely the perfect message board for me. I'm looking forward to meeting others who are just beginning this journey, and I'm also going to head off and explore this site further as it is just a tad overwhelming at the moment. Best wishes to everyone!

Hello everyone!

Excited to be here. Looking forward to dropping about 100 lbs! I feel like this is the last opportunity for me to make some wise decisions and changes before my health really takes a sharp, permanent decline. I am leaning 100% on my faith to push me through this because I am 100% certain I cannot do it alone.

I am motivited.
I am excited.
I am looking forward to working hard and enjoying the results.

Ya'll have a great day!

I don't even know if I have ever done this so if I have, sorry. I am a single parents of a teenager and I am trying to not pass my bad habits on. I have got to do something about this weight and I am really struggling.
I seem to be fine when I really plan everything out, but my schedule often doesn't allow for that. I need help with motivation, I think I need somebody to kick my butt. I've been logging everything I eat and it is horribly depressing to see that I am doing really well and then whoops there goes my schedule and in goes the junk. I need to find away to pack wholesome food in my car.
I generally have a case of water bottles in the car at all times so that helps, but....

Anyways sorry for rambling I'm just frustrated.

Hello everyone! I'm new to this site also. I'm 32 and finally on the right track to becoming healthy and active :) I know I have a ways to go (100+) but I'm learning to take it one day at a time. Would like to meet some like minded fellow spark people to buddy with and encourage each other along the way!

Hi my name is Jenn! I turned 30 last Friday and still have 138lbs to lose I thought I would join the 30 somethings lol. I am currently in the middle of the BLC#13 for 20 somethings challenge and would love to join the 30 somethings challenge when you finish and restart them. I find the challenge gives me the boost that I need to get to the gym and keep on track.

Hi there! My weight adventures have been so crazy it'd take me pages and pages to break down all 500,000 reasons I'm here. lol

Long story short, I lost 80 pounds in 6 months through healthy eating and exercise back in 2007... then my father died in July of 2008 and I re-gained 64 pounds of the weight I'd lost. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in February of 2011. I've been trying to track calories and exercise when I'm able (exercise sometimes causes my MS symptoms to flare up in a very bad way!) but I haven't gotten real with myself about why the weight's not dropping off like it did in 2007. It's time to get real. I'm here.

I have lost and found literally hundreds of pounds over the last 20 years and I'm ready to shed this weight once and for all. I just want to be active and healthy. I'm glad to be here and look forward to sharing this journey with you all!

Hi all! I'm a 37 yr old married mother of one (a 3 year old daughter). I'm a social worker and work with chronically and acutely mentally ill adults. I also live across the street from my parents and help with my 75 yr old mom who is in the beginning stages of alzheimers.

I have ALWAYS battled my weight. I hit an all time high of 420# about 11 years ago. I had a version of gastric bypass surgery and worked hard to lose 170#. I never did get under 200, tho. Then a difficult pregnancy landed me on bedrest for several months. Following my daughter's birth there were complications, and several more months of inactivity while I healed. All in all, I gained 70# back.

On January 3rd, weighing 308#, I joined a gym for the very first time in my life. I am now working out 5-6 days a week. My hubby is very supportive and is also working out 3-4 days a week. I've re-vamped my diet and have been working hard.

I've lost 20#, but would like to lose 100# this year. (Hubby's lost 13 himself!)

HI Everyone,
I'm 31 years old originally from Ohio but I have been living in central PA for the last four years now. I just got married back in Oct. 2011. I don't have any children, because I can't, but I have a cat that might as well be my child. I go to school full time and work full time.

I have been battling weight since I was eight, and I am tired of it. I wish that I had been motivated to loose the weight before I got married last year, but I am now more then ever. I am tired of the looks and stares, the condecending comments, and I am tired of being ashamed about how I look.

I have a huge goal of losing 145 lbs, but I believe I can do it.
Good luck to everyone and I would love to talk to you and help each other!

The tragedy in life doesn't lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach.

Hi Everyone! I am a happily married 31 year old mother of two. I have a son who is 6 and my daughter is 4. My family and friends mean everything to me and I would like to be with them for a while. I want to lose weight, so I can be active with my kids how I used to be, be around to meet my grandchildren, and feel good about myself again. I also want my children to learn how to live healthy lifestyles, so they can live long, healthy, happy lives.

Hi Hawaii4pn, my name is Rudo, and I am an SP vet, still fighting the fight, to pretty up yout spark page, you go to community-sparkpages, and you should see an option to either start one up or edit. When you get to the editing section, it should give color, font and other options to put on your page. Good luck on your journey.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this site too. A friend recommended it and I thought it would help me be more accountable as that is usually a problem for me. My BFF and I are embarking on this journey together as we both have over 100lbs. each to lose and work pretty well together. Our reward is that we will be going to Hawaii for a week just the two of us ladies, and I want to wear a bikini. (haven't done that since I was a kid!)

I have a question if someone will please help me out. Since I'm new I don't know how people get all those pretty spark pages. I'm such a girl and I want my page to look purdy! If there's anyone who can help me out please send me a message?

Looking forward to making this journey with lots of support and glad to be of support to anyone who wants it!

Cheers

Hi there! I am not new to SP, but have been gone for about a year and a half while I was pregnant/adjusting to life as a new mommy. My daughter is just over a year old now, and I am ready to get back to losing weight!

The last year has been tough on me (more on my page about that), and when stress hits, diet goes out the window with me usually. I want that to change!!

Hello everyone! I am very new to Sparks people and am still figuring out how all of its wonderful resources work. That said, I am 38 and have roughly 110 pounds to lose. I am finally making the decision to lose it forever and get fit and tone as well. I am single, have no children yet, and just last year finished up my masters in Education (career goal)....soooo now is the perfect time to reach my health goals. emoticon My mom has also been inspired to lose about 50 lbs...so we are doing it together. SInce we started working out at the end of JAnuary...I have lost 10 lbs (as of today!) My goal is to continue to lose 10 lbs per month..so far I am on the right track.

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending. ~Author Unknown

Hi everyone, My name is Shelley. I'm married with two sons (15 and 8). I work full time, and I am also a full time student. I am majoring in Criminal Justice, but may change my major to Sociology. I have always been a little overweight, even as a kid. I gained my real weight after the births of my two sons. Since then, it only went up. I started this journey at 268, I'm now 245. I want to be at 145 this time next year. My BMI is way up there (morbidly obese) The morbid part really got to me, I want to be there for my sons. Both of my parents are gone. So, I'm giving this my best shot.

Good luck and God bless...

Hi! My name is January. I am a 35 year old, single mother of 3 beautiful kids. My oldest daughter is 17, and I have girl/boy twins who are 14. After graduation and the birth of all of my children, my weight was average. After my divorce, deaths in my family, and much stress, that has totally changed. I went from 160 lbs to somewhere way over that. LOL. I know that I have a very challenging journey ahead of me, but my oldest graduates in June of 2013, and I plan to be at least 100 lbs lighter than I am today. By the time my twins graduate in 2017, I plan to be at my suggested weight which is around 150. I hope that recording my meals and my progress and having people to talk to about the everyday challenges, will keep me motivated throughtout this journey.

Hi, I am a single mom to a beautiful 2 year old girl. I joined in the past but wasn't very motivated. SO.... I am trying again. I am 32 and have over 150 pounds to lose and need to do it for my daughter and myself. My doctor just told me I am pre-diabetic and if I don't fix it then I will be full-blown diabetic by the age of 35.

I have thought about having gastric bypass but the side affects and risks are just too much if I can do it through diet and exercise. I would love to have a partner to help keep me motivated and on track since that is something missing in my life. I hope that one day I will be able to play with my daughter without being in pain or out of breath. I am looking forward to making this journey.

Jennifer

Hello everyone;

I just joined Sparks People but I started my weight loss journey at the end of January 2012 and have lost 13lbs so far but still have a long way to go. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. As a teenager I went up and down in weight over the years. With years of doing very little physical activity and having 2 children 21 months apart, I just kept climbing that scale. Well enough is enough, this time I am going to stick with it and reach my goals. I look forward to this journey and am excited to chat with people that are trying to reach similar goals. Best wishes to you all.

Hi Folks! I just joined this site so I could track my food intake and fitness better, as well as receiving and giving extra motivation. I need to lose about half my body weight (130 lbs) and frankly, I'm embarrassed that I'm as heavy as I am. I'm tired of always being the fattest person in the room, but I'm trying to not beat myself up over that. I've lost about 10 lbs on my own and I'm in it for the long haul of another 120 more! (I still have to figure out how to get my tracking thingy at the bottom of my post to move!)

Hello everyone, I just joined this team. I have been a member of SP for a little over 1 month. I am a wife and mom of 3, as well as a full time employee. I decided it was time for me to get myself back to a person I like. This is the first time I've decided to actually do something about my weight, not sure what motivated me but here I am!

Are you kidding me right now?

Hi, my name is Mary, I am 36 and new to Spark People. I have been a member now for about a week and a half, and am really impressed with the site. I have been tracking my calories and activities since starting and now am ready to try and find other sparkers in similar situations. I am currently at 250 lbs and would like to get down to 145 lbs. It's nice to meet everyone! I look forward to talking with some of you! emoticon

My name is Sally I am 31 years young and have struggled with weight most of my adult life. I work full time, go to school full time, and I am a single mom to a beautiful almost 4 year old daughter who I have full time also. Stress over the years since my daughter was born has made the weight pile on and with very little time to exercise let alone sleep some days I am having trouble losing the weight. I have a gym membership but only go for short periods at a time and having a hard time keeping up with it for more than a couple weeks.
I am at my heaviest right now at 265ish and even being 5'9 puts me in the obese category and I know I need to make some changes if I want to see grandkids someday. My whole family struggles with weight issues especially the women. My father puts on weight during the winter months but easily loses it in the spring and summer without even trying.
I have tried many diets before but have a hard time sticking to them long term. I remember when I was 160-170 and thought I looked like a whale, and now I would love to be that size again. My goal is 145 which I feel is a good weight for my height and that way I would match what my drivers license says I am LOL!!!
I have a few medical problems already that are not due to my weight and I do not want to have any more. I have arthritis in my back and a problem with blood clots and circulation in my left leg due to a DVT in 2005 following a surgery. I know these are not excuses not to exercise so the only one holding me back is me and better time management skills. I recently discovered Zumba and go to a class at the gym twice a week and I just bought "Just Dance 2" for the Wii and it is soooooo much fun. The first night I played for two hours by myself and was very sore the next day I could barely lift my arms.
Thirties are supposed to be the best years of our lives and I want to make the most of them!!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Joanna. I found Spark a few years ago and have made a few fumbled attempts in the past but this time will be different. I have clear goals in mind and I am motivated like never before.

A workplace weight loss challenge is what sparked me this time and having my co-workers cheer me on is a big help as is my boyfriend who is changing his lifestyle right along with me.

Happy to be here!

Hi Eveyone. My name is Adrienne. I am married with 4 children. Their ages are 7,5,3,and 1. I was surprised and thankful to find this team because I would like to go from my 250 ish self to right around 130 or 135. I am a whopping 5'2" and just want to feel more like I did when I was younger and more involved in sports and things.

I have been blessed that I haven't had any health problems that usually come with being overweight, however I know that can't last forever and I want to get to a healthier weight to set a better example for my children. I just don't want them to have to make weight their focus. So I want to do this so it's not an issue for my children later!!!

I welcome any advice or revelations you all have along the way.

Good luck on your journeys! We're going to get this done.

Hi. My name is Marleen. I turn 36 next month. I am new to this board but not to sparkpeople. I am currently at 322 lbs. my first goal is to get to 300 and work from there. Weight has been an issue since high school and got worse after quitting smoking 12 yrs ago. Health issues, stress and a traumatic experience helped me tip the scale over 300. It's time to tip the scale back.

Hello - My name is Stefanie, I'm 31 years old & I live in Oregon. I'm the single mom to the best 13-year old boy in the world. ;) I am here because I need all the help I can get in this struggle of mine to lose weight. I'm about 5 feet, 7 1/2 inches tall and I weigh 276 pounds as of this morning.

For the longest time, I weighed between 240-245, but I quit smoking last May and immediately put on 20 pounds in the first 2 months, then another 10 or so after that. So I am now at my heaviest weight ever.

I was always a skinny girl, then got pretty chunky around my pre-teen years - by the time I was 15, I was back to being very small and stayed that way through tons of exercise and very limited eating...until I got pregnant. When I found out I was pregnant, I was 18 and weighed 132 pounds. During my pregnancy, I gained 55 pounds - I think because I finally had an excuse to eat. ;) After I had my son, I only lost 15 of those pounds right away - the rest stayed with me, and has multiplied little by little ever since. I remember when my son was 13 months old, I weighed 172 pounds. Now my son is 13 YEARS old and I weigh 100 pounds more than that. That's depressing!

I think my biggest food & drink enemies are chocolate, sugary drinks and carbs. I drink probably an average of 32 ounces of Coke or Pepsi every day, 72 ounces of sweetened iced tea every day, and when I have dinner, it's spaghetti and baked potatoes, OR chicken, macaroni & cheese, and scalloped potatoes, OR tuna casserole and mashed potatoes....yes, a noodle AND a potato is standard in my house. And at work, I have the misfortune of being only a few cubicles away from someone who keeps mini Reese's, Hershey's, and Almond Joy's on her desk, LOTS of them!, at all times. So whenever I get a craving, I know they're right there. So convenient!

I have tried sooooo many diets, crash diets, long-term diets, no-diet diets...the most success I had was Weight Watchers, but even that, in the end, didn't work for me. :( I found sparkpeople after reading an article on Yahoo about a couple that lost almost 300 pounds combined by doing it the old-fashioned way: watching what they ate and exercising, along with using sparkpeople. I absolutely refuse to reach 300 pounds, but what's funny is I've also absolutely refused to reach 250 pounds, and I've absolutely refused to reach 200 pounds....obviously my absolutes aren't so absolute. And that scares me. I hope and I pray that this time, it's different. :)

Hello! My name is Kelly and and I am a 34 years old. Ihave been married for 8 years and have 2 teenagers from previous marriage. I was one of the lucky ones h never had to worry about my weight. I wasn't super thin but I wasn't within my healthy weight. In the summer of 2010 I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder and put on a high dose steroid regimen. In 9 months I gained 115lbs. However, my doctor told me it would be very hard for me to lose weight while on steroids, so I didn't bother. So now I am slowly reducing my steroid dosage , am in full remission and trying to lose the weight. I look forward to reading everyone's else journeys and to share with everyone mine.

Hey everybody! My name is Erika and I'm 31 years old. I'm not married, but share my life with an awesome man who I've been with for almost three years. I hear wedding bells in our near future, hence me REALLY wanting me to get some of this weight off. I've struggled with this issue all my life and have never been what I would consider small. I lost a significant amount of weight back in '08 and got down to a 16W. I moved back to my hometown and became very comfortable with my new life and gained back ALL...of...that...weight! :( When my sweetheart and I met...well, what seems to ALWAYS happen when you meet your significant other....yep, I gained even more weight! I have cried, been depressed, and tried, and tried to find that willpower and motivation that I once had, but seem to only be able to muster it up for a two weeks or so and I fall of the wagon again.....

One of my downfalls is this....My bf works in the oilfield and is gone 28 days at the time and home 14. When he was gone last time, I was doing so good...eating right and hitting the gym everyday. When he's home, I feel the need to cook these home cooked meals (we are true blue southerners, so you know what all that entails.) and my gym routine seems to say farewell. Then, by the time he leaves again, I've enjoyed all the yummy, horribly bad for me foods for the time he's been home, that I don't want to give it up.

I've never heard of this site and am BRAND NEW! I'm hoping that this will motivate me and keep me on track! By the way...any pointers on exactly how to use this site would be GREATLY appreciated. Does it have a Facebook layout where you see a wall of posts/comments and such? Like I said, I'm new....so, HELP!!! emoticon emoticon
