Welcome aboard! I have to echo the others - the nutrition tracker has been a huge help to me. There are some really good articles for adding exercise to your day. I need to work harder on that - I spend much to much time sitting at a desk at work.
I am new, too, and live in Southern CA. Today, because of the wonderful day of music in Pasadena, I walked more than my 10,000 steps and am still going strong to picnic at the last concerts of the day tonight. We just need to keep at it one way or another. Welcome!
With trying to lose 20 pounds you might 2 pound intervals as intermediate goals. Nutrition tracker is real important. Even though I think I know how to eyeball portions, I'm still off and sometimes I don't think enough about the combinations of things I am eating. Exercise is critical, speaking as someone who walks an hour a day and still is not losing. I need more cardio and to do the strenth training.
Welcome GermanIrish. I am also 54 and new to Sparks (about 2 months) I heard someone say that if I lowered my goals I would be more inspired (or less discouraged). I changed my goal to work it off 5 pounds at a time. That seems to be more within my reach and seems to be the motivation I needed. Good luck.
I am 54, and I have that last 12 pounds to lose. I live in southern California. I have struggled with this weight for a while and can't seem to get down to where I belong.
