Hi, my name is Denise and I am looking to loose about 45 lbs. I just recently retired and will be 65 on Monday. I am hoping with being retired now I can spend more time doing exercises. I do currently run and want to get back to running half marathons again. Other than being overweight I don't really have any health problems. I enjoy getting out and doing different things and exercising. I also read and crochet for relaxation.

Hi. My name is Terri. I was diagnosed with prediabetes a few years ago. But I am not taking any medication. I am trying to get down to 150 pounds. I致e lost 40 pounds. Have 50 more pounds to go. I知 just trying to eat healthy; a little bit lower in the carbs and a little bit higher in the protein. I知 looking for a group that can challenge me to stay with the program and not give up. I need people to push me because I don稚 have very much self motivation. I am trying not to eat any type of sweets although I fail at that periodically. I notice you all are pretty active on this team, hopefully I can get some motivation here. Looking forward to meeting everybody.

I seem to come back every Fall when my knees start swelling and moving becomes an issue. I live in Western NY so I am a slave to the weather. I love the seasons though and wouldn't live anywhere else. I hope to succeed this time to get down to 200, but so far I have been losing the same 10 lbs. each year. This is a fun group. I love the word games. I will turn 72 this April, so I am definitely over 50. Happy Holidays to all.

3rd time on Spark People. Back at the bigging again w/ my weight but my general health seems much stronger this time. I'm 52 w/ 50 lbs to lose.

I am eating mostly organic, tons of fruits and veggies, loads of color. I am trying to reduce animal protein this time around. We'll see how it goes.

I have lost over 200 pounds, but recently put weight back on due to emotional hunger and lack of exercise. It's not so easy at this age. Looking for fellowship and motivation.

Anne, I am in the same spot. The older we get and the harder we try and what worked before doesn't work now. It's like trying to get across the room on a treadmill ? I was on the Atkins and lost 10 lbs in a month but just completely stalled since then. Now just working on the program with Spark Coaches. Hi...I'm Terry and looking for help in losing this weight...I'm 63. and it seems the weight just does not wan to come off...it's so frustrating!!!
I am interested in a holistic lifestyle, using herbs and essential oils instead of all those chemical based products...I recently bought the book, The Essential Oils diet", by Dr Eric Zielinski and his wife Sabrina....I've heard good things about this one (and...so many others)...however, this one tells how to transform your bad habits and chose better ones...here goes!
I'm looking forward to working with all of you...I'm here if you ever need me!

Hello! I'm Anne and am once more on a quest for improved health and fitness. It seems like I've been on a diet for the past 30 years...never can stick to it though, lol! I lost 30 pounds on a low carb diet but have gained it all back and now it really doesn't want to budge, even following the same diet as before. I'm ready to give it another try, but I know it isn't going to be easy, especially now that I have a few physical limitations added into the equation. Hi all, I'm not new to SP but am new to the group. I have physical challenges but need to move in order to lose weight. It's a learning process to discover what I can and can't do, but I've incorporated quite a few strength exercises from my physical therapy programs. I finally feel like I can make some progress and this seems to be an excellent group to join.

I can make my choices and I choose to make better ones! I have the power and strength to do this!

I'm 52 and I live in Los Angeles. I'm making my second serious try at losing weight, trying to get down to 125 from 174. My first try was about 7 years ago and I reached my goal but then gained it all back. I'm determined not to let that happen again. I had lost 10 pounds in the first month which was amazing but this morning when I weighed myself I hadn't lost at all since last week so that was kind of tough to see.

I've gotten plump. My mirror tells me that! Too many meetings where we sit and plan community activities has really tired me out mentally so I sit in my resting chair at home afterward. I dropped half my organizations and civic clubs to give me time to chase down wellness during my future years.

I am a returning Sparker. 2 years ago I had a stroke and don't remember those 2 years but my body says I ate badly. Gained lots of pounds. So Monday I started again to see if I can keep track of my food and exercise. So far so good. Been out working in the gardens around the house, whew! I hope this helps lose some of the 30 pounds I'd like to lose.
I'd like to keep up with this and get better (body and mind).

Back again having regained and more. Waistline has expanded beyond anywhere it has ever been before and it has to go. I have PCOS and that makes thing more challenging, but this can be done, albeit probably slowly.

i am happy that this website is free. It seems to cover all options if anyone wants to loose, maintain or just be healthier concerning their weight, fitness, and nutrition, Fabulous deal. I am happy to be enjoying the process but never does that make it easier in evening for me. That's when snacks like cheese, start calling my name. I am taking everything in moderation approach and tracking tracking tracking. It's been an eye opener. I do have substantial amount to loose about 40 pounds, but could be happy with my first 5 and on! First step could be hardest...

Hello everyone, not new to sparks but new to the team. My name is Joyce, we live in Florence OR. We just celebrated our 55th wedding anniversary Feb. 28. We have 3 adult children, 10 grandchildren and 5-1/2 great grandchildren, our 6th is due in August.

Since 2014 I have lost 26lbs, I know that is slow but at least it is staying off. I try just to lose 10lbs at a time, sometimes it seems like forever because I will lose than gain then finally stay in one stop and start losing again. But happy I am losing.

Right now my husband is going through radiation treatments for his cancer. The last biopsy was not too good of news, Monday we will see what options we have. I know his dr said with what type he has we have two choices to go to find out treatments, Stanford or Portland OR, Portland is closer but still 31/2 hours away. After Monday we will know more.

I'm new here too. So we can learn together. My issue is the exact opposite - I don't eat enough and that can be harmful for you too. And yet I am still overweight. Mobility is an issue for me.
So here we are and trying to do what's right for us. Good luck to us both.

I'm Bonnie, new to all this. Bear with me as I learn my way around, please!
I'm here because I've been concerned this week about the way I feel. It's as if my body has shifted and I don't have the energy I had even a month ago. I need the accountability and the encouragement to get back on track, and get out the door each morning for a walk. That is what helped me lose weight and feel healthier last year. Plus, I love the tools here on SP, which show me (shockingly) how many calories I'm taking in each day. No more daily white mochas!
I'm looking forward to reading and being encouraged by your stories.

Hi everyone,
I have tried this many times and have failed each time. This time I am determined for it to work. I have 19 weeks before I see my primary doctor again. I would love to lose a few pounds (at least 10) before I see him again. I have developed osteoarthritis and feel that the extra weight I carry is contributing to the pain. I know that the weight is not the total cause but still I feel that if I lose a few pounds It will not be as intense.

Greetings and salutations.
I知 Robyn, 50, from Colorado. I知 a hard working massage therapist building a business to go fully solo.

I started holding fat storage in my 40s, and just want to be done with that.
I prefer to eat plants, but past years have led to bad eating habits. (Tiny violin playing my heart bleeds for you) you know how that is. (An excuse, truepeacenik, a flipping excuse)

I知 playing around with modified intermittent fasting. It seems to take a lot of nibbling out, and that alone is helpful.
A gym membership is on the horizon, and I go and dance (think crazy hippie dancing) a couple times a month. For about four hours. I also hula hoop and I知 trying to work in calisthenics regularly, rather than irregularly.

Hi, I知 not new to SparkPeople but it has been quite a while since I致e been active on it. I have been using MyFitnessPal the last few years (I found it easier to log food) but I致e gained 10-15 pounds since summer and I need more motivation and support so I知 back hoping some team support will do the trick. I知 57 years old and have been fighting the fight most of my life.

Hello - I was with SP for several years, starting in 2009. Then I closed my account for a few months. I've MISSED it, so I'm back. Hi Y'all! I admit it...I am a hot mess.Turning 50 was like hitting a brick wall. I feel like I woke up, my kids were gone, my mind was gone, and where in God's name is my waist? I gotta get it together...seriously.
Started a new career at 49 and finally feel like that part of life is SOMEWHAT settled, but then new things get thrown in the mix.
I need to drop 40 pounds, but I LOVE Pepsi and I work on the GM side of a superstore. Is there hope? I sure hope so!

My name is Teresa. I have a tendency to gain and lose rapidly. As I am getting older, I don't lose so rapidly. I am tired of the roller coaster. I am now back to the basics once again.
I have an ornery Siamese cat who needs adjustment when it comes to being an indoor pet. She is a rescue and hasn't had the contact which is part of being a lapcat. She is young, and curious, and I haven't given up yet. emoticon
I am working on becoming more active myself. I have had some health issues. Medication changes are being made, and I can see some positive results.

I am Jae. Married to my husband of 46 years. I have two grown children with families of their own. I have five grandchildren and one great great daughter...I also have two fur kitties who bring me joy.
I have Fibromyalgia, OsteoArthritis. and long standing depression. My husband has Dementia which has recently progressed to mid stages.Needless to say for me some days are more challenging than I can bear. It is not easy to be a caregiver and especially if the caregiver needs care. But with the Lords help I manage to get through everyday with gratitude knowing things can always be worse.
I started SparkPeople weighing 214. I now weigh 162. I would like to lose another thirty pounds. I am an emotional eater and I will always have to keep my emotions in check and learn not to lean on food for stress...
I have learned to take one day at a time. not to regret yesterday or worry about tomorrow. For as we know tomorrow is not promised to any of us.
When I am not busy taking care of my husband or the everyday decisions come up. I enjoy coloring, writing, music, and my computer...I was born with Spina Bifida ...which was difficult for my childhood but many life lessons learned along the way...This is my path that has been given to me..nothing left to do but learn to walk in joy with it.


The pain passes ~ only the beauty remains...

Hello from UT. I have been with Spark a long time and been active with it on and off--I still have not lost the weight I want and in fact since first starting have gained. I have lost and found the same 25 pounds over the years and have yet to find my WOE that I can adhere to for life. (I may have found it I shall know in a month!). I am 55,a grandmother, married 32 years and wanting to get my health on track with fitness and diet. I am going through the wonderful menopause and as we ll know it puts a little more difficult spin on our efforts, but I am determined to prevail!

Hi my name is Kathryn, I have been on SparkPeople for s few years. I. Lost 50 pounds but put back a few. I have kept off 35 and have 35 more to go. I am married, 60 and a retired teacher. I live in Sacramento CA. My hubby is disabled and I am his main caretaker. We have caretakers come in and spill me so I can take off and have free time. I love hanging out at Starbucks after taking 30-60 minute walks. I have a wall push up streak doing 35 day 25.

Hi, I just joined the team. I have been on SP for more than a year this time around and have been on the team for 50-99 pounds to lose, but figured it was time to also join this team and say hello! The weight has been coming off very slowly the past few months but I'm keeping at it. I hope in a year or two I can reach my goal. I am 60, retired, overweight and looking for my - what do I do now? And I found Sparkpeople!! Only been doing this for almost a week so still in the learning phase. I Log in every day as soon as I can and download my free video workout, and start drinking my water. Post all my food, steps and goals. Doing my small steps to lead into my big ones. I signed up for a 5k for June, July and August and figure I will succeed to finish under 50 minutes. Gotta start somewhere!!!

I am a 57 yo grandmother who has spent the last two years taking care of elderly, very sick, parents. I just moved back into my own home this past weekend, so now it is time to do something for me. I became a couch potato during these past two stressful years, and now I am ready to get back into taking care of myself and becoming active once again. Hi Sharoncaps,, nice toe to ou. We lived in Burnsville MN for 10 yrs. (Twin Cities area) have a daughter and grandson inAnika and son and 3 other grand kids in Eagan. We did visit places in MN but I don't think we have been to Moorehead-well maybe when we traveled to Utah/Yellowstone.I am not sure.😳

Good morning everyone. I hope you're having a good day. I'm getting my trackers going and trying to get back into my morning workouts. Don't you feel amazing all day after a morning workout?! I think I can be more consistent when the sun comes up earlier. My husband tells me I'm solar powered. He's right. I need that morning sunrise to get going so early.

Hi everybody! Last time I was doing this, I was in the 40+ teams... I'm almost midway through my 50's and starting this healthy trek again. It is so much harder 10 years later but I am DETERMINED to get to my goal.

First month in, 10# and 5.75 inches gone.... I've only had fast food 3 times and saved about $400 not paying for breakfast/lunch ever work day. It's not easy, but it's working for me.

Looking forward to some challenges and hearing everyone's stories/accomplishments.

Hi, I am Sharon and I live in cold Minnesota. I am 75 years old and have COPD so do have a few challenges with exercise. I walk 60 minutes a day in 15 minute intervals. I do it this way so that I am getting exercise all during the day. I am trying to get back into doing some strength exercises and keeping myself busy. I have 3 kids, 5 grandkids and 2 great grandkids. They all live here in the same town as I do except one grandson that is in Indiana right now. He will be moving to Minneapolis, MN come Memorial Day.

Hi I am 57 years old and now have 6 wonderful grandchildren. I知 excited i finally have my husband on board to help me do this. I want to be around for my grandkids. They are my joy. So starting Monday I知 in all the weigh to watch what I eat and to start the treadmill. I strained my shoulder so I can稚 work to much on my arms until therapy is over.
