Hi and welcome to the team.

Dorothy

If you tell God no because He won't explain the reason He wants you to do something, you are actually hindering His blessing. But when you say yes to Him, all of heaven opens to pour out His goodness and reward your obedience. What matters more than material blessings are the things He is teaching us in our spirit.
Charles Stanley

emoticon This is the beginning of a new lifestyle for you. you'll be happy that you did this!
Start using the nutrition tracker to see what you are actually eating for a couple of days. Then use the tracker and menus that are provided. If you don't like the food for that day. Point and clip on each food item to make changes. There is lots of help here so if you need support , just ask. emoticon

emoticon Welcome to the beginning of your healthy lifestyle. Diets don't work, but making small changes to the way you live does work.
emoticon Most of us are here for the long haul, so feel free to get to know us. Questions ... wonderful, that's the only way we learn. Aha moments ... share them. We love them and they even open some doors for us to get further in our journey. Rants and pity parties ... well, I guess. I will warn you though … this is a pretty upbeat bunch of people you'll be talking to.
emoticon Check out a few Spark Pages. You'll soon find some like minded people to hook up with as friends. Join a few teams. I find that the challenge team motivates me when I don’t feel like doing what I know I should.
emoticon Don’t let all the information that is here overwhelm you. Just try to make two or three small changes, and when you've got them mastered, and then move on. Before you know it, you'll be amazed at how long you been here and how far you have come!

emoticon to the team. SP is a emoticon website with a lot of information and so many people who are supportive, encouraging and motivational. Keep logging in, posting and tracking nutrition and fitness.

Take it one day at a time and enjoy the friends and people you will meet. Have never had surgery, but believe that if you can do it naturally you are better off in the long run.

Good Luck. God Bless.

Welcome to Spark People where you will gets lots of support and encouragement. I had Mason shunt gastric bypass in 1970 but over ate the system; my staples are still in place, but I over ate and stretched out the small portion of my stomach I had to use. No one back then was given support or aftercare and I had no type of diet counseling to help me. I think you have definitely come to the right spot for help. Watching calories and keeping track of your nutrition and drinking the recommended 8 cups of water per day (even if you have to work your way up to that goal like I'm doing) is the only thing that works for me. So far since March 28, 2010, I have lost 12 pounds and have held my own for 3 weeks. I can't wait to start losing again. My doctor told me that my first weight loss was likely mostly water weight and once the water gets regulated into my system again I will start losing. I also know I have to watch what I eat better and drink as my downfall is soda. We can do this, you and I, along with all the others on Spark People who are doing it. emoticon emoticon

No I have not had surgery, wish I could afford to have the lap band procedure. About 11 weeks ago I stopped eating meat, I eat fish and I eat eggs and have lost 10 lbs., slow, very slow, but I also don't feel like i am dieting. Best of Luck to you!

Hello I have joined Sparks People with the hope of accomplishing several things.
Five years agao I had gastric bypass and lost 100 pds and as of today I have gained back 30. I didn't meet my goal for the amount of weight loss I wanted to achieve from surgery though.. I did accomplish getting off of the meds for dibieties and blood pressure med . I had to start taking the med for high blood pressure again about 7 mo. ago. I am now being treated for IBS. I need help with getting my diet correct and back on track. If there is anyone else out there who has had surgery and gained please reply. I can use all the advice anyone can give.
Thanks
