Hi, I'm Georgia and I'm new new new.
I'm excited to lose weight and gain a healthy lifestyle. My current goal is to lose 78 pounds.
I think I might like to lose more after I get there, but I'm going to get there and then wait and see.
:) I hope everyone is doing well.

I am a newbie to this entire site. Can someone help me? Over the past 4 1/2 years I lost 30 lbs. Not sure how, I just did. Now, in the past 6 months I have put back on the 30 lbs. I am really needing some motivation. My sister in law told me about this site and she lost a ton of weight on here. She always had something great to say about this site.
I could really use some buddies to work with here.
Thanks

Hi everyone I am also an old "newbie" as I have been with spark people for about 2 1/2 years and just have not applied the lessons learned to the present situation.

In that 2 1/2 years the scale has moved just in the wrong direction. When I first started sp I was around 238, I stepped on the scales on Monday and I now weigh 251.6 this means I could now join the 100+ to lose club so now I am back to lose and more serious than ever.

Good luck to all of you on your goals and future!!

Hello, I'm new to this group, but not SP. I'm almost 35 and currently weigh 189 lbs. My ultimate goal is 115, that would put me in a healthy range for my height and frame. I'm 5'0" and have the bone structure of a 13yr old. Very tiny due to growth hormone deficiency. My inspiration for my weight loss... First to be healthy, second is curiosity. With my tiny bone structure, I wonder how tiny I would be at a normal, healthy weight. I'm sure I'll be a cute little thing! :-)

Have been a member of SP for awhile now.

Since starting over seems to be a theme...why not keep it going, right?

So, here goes. Im LeAnn and I am trying (again) to get this thing under controll (again). I know it CAN be done. I have two children (7 and 1 1/2) and my husband is in the military. I am a SAHM and I do love every second of it. However, finding time to excersize, isnt always easy to do. I will do my best to motivate you all as you motivate me. :) Happy Wednesday!

I'm reintroducing myself as well. Joined in 2007 and got sidetracked - seems to be a common theme! I'm tired of being overweight. Either I lose weight or have to buy the next size up of clothes. Seems a better idea to lose pounds and save money!
I have a lot of stresses and worries lately (family, job cut to 50% time, mortgage to pay) and it's frustrating not to have any control over these issues. Then I thought: what DO I have control over? The answer: what I eat! Back to SparkPeople! I can at least feel good about losing weight! Yay!

I am new to this site. I actually joined a year ago, but only stayed a few weeks. I unfortunately gained a lot of weight in the last year. I need to take that weight off. I want to do a 10k next year. I have a 12 year old that said he will help me.

Hello everyone,

I have been a member of Spark for a few years now. the first year I lost about 20 pounds and since then I have been gaining and losing the same 10. I want to lose about 55 pounds to get to my healthy weight. I have figured out that I can't do it alone so am looking for a group that will help keep me on track and understand the pitfalls I am encountering. I usually do very well for the first week and then start to slack off...... Anyone else have that trouble? I have also joined a 5% 13 week challenge and hope that by breaking it up into a more managable number I will feel that I am making progress!

Hello!

I was here for a while a couple of years ago, but a few job losses and a housefire took out all my motivation for a while. I'm trying to get back into this, and I even have some RL friends to do this with, so hopefully it will work this time and I won't get thrown off track. Last time I really worked at it I lost about 15-20 pounds.

I need to lose 66 pounds to reach the normal BMI range, but I want to lose about 88 pounds. That's my skinny goal, which would leave me at 110 (I'm short, that would leave me with a BMI of 21), but we'll see how it goes on the way there. I haven't been there since I was 12 years old, lol.

Hi all! Another re-introduction here! I'm Nicky, and I live in Alaska. I joined over a year ago, and I'm about 6 pounds down from THAT, but have a LOOOOONG way to go! I want to lose about 55 pounds at the moment. I have a plan- more water, more veggies, more exercise. Every day. And I plan to check in here, because I need all the motivation I can get! Hope you all are doing well!

Hey I'm Tera from a hole in the wall in Kansas. I recently had a daughter in April, and since going into the hospital I've lost 31 lbs (22 baby weight). In order to be at a healthy weight I need to drop another 94 lbs. It's seems like such a huge goal and it's so easy to get off track. I just joined a women's gym, so with that and support of others I hope I can make it happen this time.

Hi My name is Phyllis and I am from Alberta Canada..I have 60 pounds to loose..I find I need to track everything as I eat it..so as to keep track at how many calories I have left for the day..This seems to be of great help so far anyway. I also try to have my dinner a bit later in the evening..Seems to help with the night time snacking (my downfall)
One thing I like about SP..Lots of support..Thankyou everyone!!!

Hi, My name is James but my friends call me Sweet James. I am 20 and I want to be down to the high 190's and low 200's... I weigh 322 as of Monday. I was diagnosed with diabetes this week and hit finally hit home when my doctor said if I don't turn my life around I won't see 30. It scared the crap out of me. I want to be able to have a wife and kids someday and I want to become that person that I always wanted to be. When I think of myself I see a sweet compassionate guy that plays football, soccer, basketball, and baseball. When I see myself in camp videos I see a fat unhappy guy that has tons of potential, very active and agile for being 322 pounds. It is time for a drastic change! I quite literally have to change my whole lifestyle completely, I have to now watch my cholesterol, sugar and carb intake, and my weight. It blows... and it is finally becoming a reality. My doctor recommended this website to me and I got on and realized that this place is going to be my new home. The good news about all of this is since college, I have been my heaviest at 340 and my lightest at 300... go figure. This just shows that I am capable of losing weight if I want to do it.

My name is Rebecca and I saw myself on video today. I can't even describe the feelings I had at seeing what I "really" look like. I started Sparkpeople a couple of years ago and lost several inches and quite a few pounds then just fell off the wagon. Jumped more like it. I hate having my picture taken and god forbid someone breaks out a video camera. It's run for the hills, all my extra weight jiggling after me. Not anymore. I'm thinking of taking a video of myself once a month, so I can SEE the effect that eating healthy and exercising is having on me.
I know that with support and a good kick in the rear every now and then I can reach my goal.

I changed my ticker tape thingy because seeing how far apart my goal is from where I'm starting depressed the (*&( out of me. I decided to go with what I'm allowed to lose by my birthday and then I'll go another six months down the road. So far, looking at it makes me happy. Down 8 pounds...

I can sympathize with your losses...My Dad passed away unexpectedly dec 19, 2005 which was four days after my Uncle (his brother). Times can be tough, but it does get easier! My Dad is my inspiration for losing this weight and getting healthier. He was overweight all of his wife and had many health problems caused by it. In the two years before his death he had lost about 100lbs. He was truely trying. He ended dying of a massive heart attack. I want to lose this weight for him and for myself. Anyways I'm rambling, just wanted to let ya know that if you need someone to talk to, I'm here! :)

Hey! My name's Christy and I'm from NEArkansas. I'm happily married with a five year old son and have a very full time job as an apartment manager. I've been overweight most of my life and am looking forward to feeling and looking better! My ultimate goal is to get down below 200lbs. I've decided since that is a lot of weight to lose (I started at 270lbs) that I'd break it up into 10lbs at a time so I don't get discouraged. Since joining SP I've lost down to 255!! I look forward to meeting others on here with the same struggles as myself and working together to get healthy in 2009!

Welcome to all our newbies in this group!! The last few months of 2008 were really tough for me with my dad dying unexpectedly and my grandma who raised me also passed away early December. I have cycled through bouts of wanting to binge eat for no apparent reason, anger beyond my understanding and deep feelings of such great loss that it matters not to me whether I am 140 or 340 lbs. Yet then almost like magic one of my boys will come up to me and simply hug me for no apparent reason or say they love me out of the blue and then I remember I am doing this for ME first but.. running a close second is I am doing this so hopefully my boys will not have to experience the loss of me before say 40 or 50 !!! That would mean I have to live to be in my 80's or 90's. And if I am going to live that darn long then I want to be in fantastic health and not be on a bajillion medications! ha ha . So I have lost over 25 lbs and still have about 50+ to go. Been on a trip to So. California cause my partner has business to take care of and it is hard eating in the hotel and getting my excercise but I am just doing the best I can and realizing that this is real life and I have to handle these situation for the rest of my life.

I went for no exercise, to forced exercise, to looking forward to exercise. So, I say to you, go about it slowly. Make yourself a schedule. Put it on your calendar. Increase your time by 5 minutes each time. I started off with 15 minutes. I don't have a problem doing 60 minutes, but I wear a heart monitor-calorie counter and when I reach my 500-600 calories, I can either quit for the day or do more. It is sorta a game now. Be sure to drink at least 1 8 oz. glass before you exercise, as well as 1-2 8 oz. glasses of water while you exercise. - and just think, 24 oz. of water DONE.

Diane,

I am in the same boat. I can visualize, actually dream of seeing myself healthy and thinner, however when the alarm clock goes off in the morning, the excuses show up to stop me.

Best of luck on your journey - I am starting my fitness journey today with 20 minutes of Cardio.

I need to lose this weight for me - I am going to be 39 this year and this is the heaviest that I have ever been. I have been tracking myself since 12/30 and doing okay. Still can't get motivated to exercise, keep finding excuses, but I am determined to get it done in 2009.

Happy New Year to all!

Hello! I'm not exactly new here, but I haven't been here for a year so I guess I should reintroduce myself.

I'm Laure. I'm 26, I live in California and I have two kids. I've done the weight loss thing a couple of times, gained all or most of it back. I've been at it this time since August and I'm already down 35lbs. Hoping to lose the other 46 and get down to goal this time.

Hi, Let me introduce myself. I lost 55 pounds 3 years ago with nweight watchers. Since then I've had a thyroidecdtomy and loosing now is very hard. I have gained back 20 pounds before my medication was correct. Now I'm ready to try again. I hope I can get some inspiration from all of you.

Hi
My name is Judi. I live in Michigan. I stopped working this past year so I have spent much more time working on me. I've been on Spark's for about 6 months now. I lost a considerable amount of weight last year, but this year, I've lost very little-except lots of inches. So, a few more days to 2009 and my goal is to eliminate 50 lbs. in 2009. That's less than 5 lbs. per month. Positively, if encouraged, I can do this, and I think we all can!

You can't get the brass ring on the merry go round if you don't reach for it. Go for it. I know you can!

Hello Everyone I am here because I would like to lose about 55 lbs - I was off to a great start but. . . my father died right before my birthday in May and on Dec 6th my grandma who raised me out in Washington state passed away as well. I have been so unmotivated lately and have gained back 2 lbs after losing 20 lbs. But in the last week I have started to change my attitude back to the way it was, so this coming Monday (tomorrow 12/29) I am beginning again and this time I am going to try my best to come up with a plan I can sustain for a lifetime. Hope all had a great holiday and are planning a great new year's celebration - god knows I am ready for 2009 to be here, the end of 2008 has been so grueling for me personally that I am not sad to see it go.

Hello! My name is Christina and I am 28 years old and I live in the Seattle area. I've been a member of spark people for over a yr but it wasnt until August that I got serious about my weight loss. Since then I've lost about 44 lbs. I'm very excited and hopeful about the future now. I have a short term goal of losing 20 lbs by March 14. I feel confident that I will be able to accomplish it. I hope everyone had a merry christmas and a happy holiday season.

Sincerely,
Christina emoticon

You can and you will do it. You deserve this.

Hi, I am a new member of the team. Actually, I just rejoined last week. Last year I lost 70 lbs through diet and exercise, with the help of Sparkpeople. Then I went through some major changes in my life and I lost my motivation. I had to get a second job. And with being a single mom and working two jobs I had no time to exercise. I realized that I needed to make time, no matter how difficult that might be, so that I can be healthy and lose the weight again. Another lesson I learned along the way is that I had limited my diet so severely that I couldn't continue with it, and when I fell of the wagon, I fell hard! So now I am back, starting over, this time hopefully I will make better choices.

Hi, everyone. I have been away from here for about a year but i'm back. I also gained a few more lbs but have lost 14 lbs in the last 2 weeks. It feels great. I actually started walking daily and cutting out most of the fat. It was hard but when I lost 6 lbs in the first 5 days it has inspired me. Vitamins, salads and cottage cheese have become my best friends. I hope to be getting one of those brazilian wax jobs next summer. haha.

HI Jen, Wendy and all others.

Yes, I too need motivation and for the same reasons you all said. It's easier to come to puter then it is to go to a once a week meeting.

I would also like to encourage others which will in turn help me to stick to my own goals.

Wishing us all well. We CAN do this.

Did anyone see the "Today" show today (Mon Nov 3rd) on NBC this AM? They did a study of people at a buffet using different sizes of servings spoons and plates. Those who had the biggest plates, spoons who sat nearer to the buffet ate more. It was quite interesting.

I have already bought and use smaller plates and forks and find this very helpful. I hope that'll help others with the portion control as it has me. I am also trying to eat , as per a nurses suggestion of eating every 3 hrs food in the size of my palm when I can. This keeps our motabolism up and running smoothly instead the stop and go by eating larger meals in the day. Between the both of these suggestions hopefully I can do this.

I need to get rid of the "hopefully' Thinking and just get determined. Anyone else struggle with this? If I could picture myself smaller, maybe that'd help. That shouldn't be hard, yet it is. Eighteeen years ago before a car accident and a few traumatic events in my life, the most I had weighted was 120. Now I am up to 213. I know on my scale line here it says 208, I need to go and change that, I had gained.

TY Diane

Hi My name is Jen
I have used sparkpeople for about a month now, and I love it. I have a daughter who is 19 months and I gained a ton of weight during pregnancy and then after I had her, I still ate like I was pregnant. Shortly after I realized that I could not go on like that. During the last year I have lost alot but have come to a plateau and starting getting frustrated when I wasn't going under 230 lbs. I am glad that I found a group with a similar goal. I am in a wedding in March 2009 so I was really hoping to lose 50lbs by then. So far I have lost 10lbs but I know my journey will be getting harder and harder.

HI! My name is Wendy, I am happily married and a 39 year old mother of 4, a 20 year old son and 3 daughters ages 19, 17 and 16. The last 2 years have been extremely high stress and I just keep gaining and gaining. I hate to say that I am un motivated and a bit lazy but I am. No matter how much i want to lose the weight I just keep eating! Today for the first time in years I actually stuck to my diet and that gave me hope that maybe I can get thru it tomorrow and I did start an exercise program this morning and am hoping to continue it but I need SUPPORT!! I have been a member of a weight loss group for years and while everyone is wonderful we do not support each other except for weigh in days, everyone is just to busy with their own life. So it is great to be on here and I hope to use this to motivate me to a healthy weight!! I need to lose 80 pounds but I am working in small increments...making my way to a 10 mpound loss is my immediate goal.

Wendy Elliott

Hi all!!! I joined this forum about a year ago when I first started Spark but have been doing well without posting. I lost about 40 lbs for my wedding and would like to lose another 40-50 but can really use a little extra push along the way to keep me in line. I'm still logging all my food, but need a swift kick to get me back into the gym. good luck to all of us!!!! emoticon

I too joined this forum a long time ago and have recently started over. It seems like I have started a lot of things over. I'm happy because I've lost 6 pounds, which seems like so little but is the most weight I've lost in a very long time.

Ooops I didn't realize I had already posted here not long ago. Sorry!
