Hey Glen, The Slam has been awesome so far. In training up to Western States I worked my way up to a 270 mile month and raced 5 marathons and 2 50Ks. I lucked out at Western Sates because it was the second coolest temps in WS history but I felt like I was due because when I ran Boston this year for the first time it was the 3rd hottest in it's 116 year history!

Anyway, WS went well and I ran a 26:33ish then didn't run for 5 days and started back to 30 mile weeks of easy running until Vermont where I ran a PR of 22:31. I took another 5 days and am back to 30 - 35 mile weeks. August 18th is Leadville! I'm looking forward to it because I have a lot of friends there. After Leadville will be Wasatch on September 7th, my B-day. I love Wasatch, my favorite 100 of any I've run so far.

Wow - I'm impressed, Brian. You've got a great track record. (No pun intended. Wait, this is ultra running - there is no track!) PLEASE keep us (me, anyway) posted on your training/progress with the Grand Slam.

Hey everyone, I've been on Spark People for about a year now and am just starting to explore more than the calorie and excercise functions. I was curious if there were other ultrarunners in the cummunity and here you are!

I have done 61 marathon or longer races, 9 of them 100s and I'm currently doing the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning. I'm always ready to have a good conversation about running and like to hear about the races other people have done.

Run on!
Brian
