Greetings from Florida. I'm Cheryl, 60 yrs old a widow with 5 grown children, one of which is still at home. I decided this year to get serious about my health. My numbers are good, Blood Sugar, Bld Pressure and serum levels of various elements. However, my weight is off the charts and I have just been in denial about how bad it had gotten. I want to be able to be active and fit into airline seats and nice clothes. I want people to see more than a fat slob when they look at me.

I have been keeping a food journal in SP since January and have been doing well in keeping within my range levels most days. I just started reaching out to the SP community for encouragement and friendship. In the past I have been a lurker on sites but not a participant. I am changing that. I want to be part of life and have people I can relate to and laugh with. I am looking forward to the challenges on this team. The exercise is the one that is the hardest.

Hi my name is Paula, when I joined spark in 2003 I was 245, and I lost 35 + lbs, in 2009 I had my gall bladder removed and I have since gained back all that I lost + 18lbs. I am 37lbs from 300lbs. I have never been this big in my life, not even when I was pregnant with my 3rd born. I NEED HELP.

Hello,

My name is Mary. I'm currently over weight by 100 lbs plus some. I went with my husband last night shopping at our mall and I found climbing stairs is starting to become a problem. My knees hurt and I become short of breath after the climb. I really need to get into a excercise program routine. One that I would'nt quit because it was too much. Any suggestions? I have tried the Wii fit. It seems good. I just need to stick with it. I seem to get boarded after a couple of weeks. emoticon

Hi all,

My name is Trish and I have about 120 lbs to lose. I had some success last year-I had to really cut carbs-doctors orders-but then I got sick, needed surgery and am currently undergoing proton beam radiation, so due to inactivity, stress, I put on the 40 lbs I lost last year. Honestly, I feel pretty disgusted with the state of my health.

I am hoping through Spark People and the support of my family and friends to really get my weight under control once and for all!

Just like everone else, I have a lot of weight to lose. I'm trying to go from 265 to 150. 150 still isn't what "they" say I should be, but I figure losing a whole person is a good start. Ok, so it's very small, petite, short person, but 100 lb can still be a person. Hey everyone! I am new to SP and so far I am loving it! I am turning 35 this year, and like most of us, I have been yo-yo dieting on the weight rollercoaster most of my adult life! NO MORE EXCUSES! That is my NYE resolution...

My three short term goals are:
Drop one pant size
Fit in the chairs at the movie theatre
Ride the Superman rollercoaster at Darien Lake

And yes - in that order! I can't even tell you how embarassing it was for me to wait in line for 45 minutes to ride the Superman (one of the top 10 coasters in the country) and then when I get in the ride, the seat belt did not fit me so I had to get off the ride... The rude comments that some of the people made b/c they had to wait for me to exit the ride were disgusting!

My goal this summer is to be able to go wait in that line again - but THIS time, I will FIT!

I am only 5'1, so having 130 lbs to lose is a daunting number! So I plan on focusing on my short term goals which will ultimately add up to my longest term goal...

Hold on tight 'cause here we go!!!

i joined this group awhile back, but never got really involved until now. i figure i would get the jump on new years so that i could get into the routine before then. my starting weight is 230 and i'm looking to get to 130. or somewhere close to that would be good too! i am doing the EA Active 2 personal tainer for the PS3, so i hope it works!

Merry Christmas! My name is Tangee and I have 120 pounds to lose. I have already lost 25 pounds following the book Fat To Skinny by Doug Varrieur. I hope that I can lose the weight, all of it in 2011. I have been drinking alot of water and watching what I eat but I have not been exercising. I plan on doing WATP Leslie Sansone DVD's every day until Spring when it warms up and I can walk outdoors. I want to get through Christmas without gaining any weight. My name is Amy and I am in my mid-30's with more than 100 pounds to lose. I recently moved from KS to CO (where I am from originally). I work from home as a freelance graphic and web designer. I am happily married (over 10 years) and have 2 kids, daughter Andie, 17, and son Chris, 9.

Here's my story:
I haven't always been big and I can't really blame it on genetics (most of my family are much taller and in shape for the most part). Over the years I have made some bad choices and have not been the most active. For the last 3 years, I was working full time at an office during the day with co-workers who loved to go out to eat. I found that I have little willpower when it comes to restaurant food. At home, I make pretty good choices about what I buy and cook but not so much when I'm at a restaurant. I was also getting my bachelor's online at night. So my daily activity was almost none. We did have a membership to the YMCA and I was doing pretty well for a while but found that I had little time or energy after sitting for so many hours a day at the computer. After I got my bachelor's, we moved to CO near family and I now freelance from home so that I can have more flexibility for my kids.

At 200 pounds (3 years ago), I vowed that I wouldn't let it get any higher. And I tried. But then found myself at 220 and then at 250 which is where I am now (well, actually I am just about down to 240...YAY!!!). My ultimate goal is to get down to 120-130. Now that I work at home full time and we can't afford a gym (for now), I make myself either get out and walk a minimum of 3 times a week or I get on the treadmill (we bought one several years ago and it's just been a dust collector until now).

I am more determined than ever to get this weight off. I am making myself track my foods and my exercise and I really think it's helping to keep me motivated. I would love anyone who wants to be an e-buddy and help keep me going and I will do the same for you. I look forward to meeting some of you and hearing your stories.

Hi My Name is Shawn. I am 45 and started my journey at 314. .I am not really new to the group but have not been on here for a very long time. That being said I am back on track. It has been 13 days since I got back on track. My first weighin I lost 5.2 pounds. My weigh in last night I lost another 5 pounds. I am exercising twice a day and have been now for the past 13 days. I gazelle for 20-30 minutes and Just dance Sweat for another 30-40 minutes a day. I am making this journy all about me. Thanks for your support !

Hi. I'm Nikki. I need to lose half my body weight to get to my "ideal" body weight, but I'd personally be THRILLED to be under 200, which even then is still over 100 pounds. I can blame my weight on a lot of things, but it all boils down to me not taking care of myself. I started gaining weight ten years ago shortly after my oldest was born and it has gone up and down (primarily up) since. I just turned 29 and vowed on my birthday that the year I was 29 was the year I got my body back.

So, here I am.
