Hi everyone, I'm Dawn and I'm 39 and have been overweight my entire life. I recently found out that I have diabetes, high cholestrol and high blood pressure. This is how it all started to go down hill for my dad who died at 63. I refuse to go down that same path. Therefore it's time to get serious and do somthing about it. I would love to find a walking buddy. I have a dog who would love the walks too. I live near Buddy Todd Park off of Mesa drive. Love to hear from anyone interested.

Hi... I'm Paul and I'm trying to get back on track! I went to the doctor about 2 weeks ago and found out I gained about 30 lbs in the last year. I was out of work for 15 months, sitting around doing nothing... now I'm working, but I take the train to Irvine and my commute is literally 4 hours a day. Then at work I sit down for 8 hours... that's TWELVE HOURS of sitting down doing NOTHING to burn calories!!!

My food has been pretty good... but my lack of exercise has always gotten me in trouble! So, this last weekend, I cleaned out a portion of my garage and made an area for my cross trainer machine and my bow flex. I LOVE the cross trainer, but really have little interest in weight lifting. I need to get over it and start to strengthen my muscles! Muscle burns fat!!! So, I've used the cross trainer 2 days now and I feel great. I've lost about 5 lbs since I went to the doctor, so I'm glad about that.

I live in Oceanside near the back gate of Camp Pend. I'd love to find another guy to work out with if you're in the area.

Hi, I'm Karen, 40 something looking to lose 25 lbs. I am almost an "ex" marathoner, did 3 and a 1/2. Lately I am lucky to get in 3 miles. I live by ECHS with a crazy schedule (Wife/Mom/FT Job/AvonLady). I was excited to see this group but sad it currently doesn't have a leader. I am already over committed but very enthusiastic about meeting others like myself.
Still learning how to navigate around this site and the nutrition section is scaring me, but I am determined.

Hi everyone! I'm Amanda, and I'm also a Marine wife. I'm 23, and we live over by Mira Costa as well. I'm a lifeguard on Camp Pendleton, so anyone who lives in the Mountain district, I'm one of your lifeguards!

Anyway, I'm a member over at LA Boxing, and love it there, but started getting really lazy, and just needed to switch things up. So I started the Couch 2 5k program, and I'm on week 3 now. I detest running, so this is exactly what I needed to change my tune, and I'm liking it so far. (Shockingly.) I have about 10 or so pounds to lose, but in reality I'm just trying to get healthier. I'm new to SP, just joined today. I was on it a few years ago when we were stationed back east, but I just never did anything with it. So here I am again!

Hey y'all! I just joined SparkPeople and have been working out using the Biggest Loser Last Chance workout for over a week now. I plan on finishing the 6 week program and start Insanity. I have so much to lose! I am married to a Marine and plan on surprising him with my weight loss when he returns from a six month deployment. He leaves this Monday.

My name is Venette.. I will be 36 on the 25th of this month.. I am 5'4.. per the dr's scale as of 1-8-10 I weighed 224 .. But per my home scale as of this morning I weigh 217.. so I dont know if it is off or I lost 7 lbs since then.. I have started counting calories and walking at least 30 min a day. I have a very active 2yo son, a full time job and a tight budget so going to the gym is out.. but I plan on buying the Wii game "walk it out" so I can do do more walking at home.. I work 2 12 hour days and two 8 hours day with 3 days off.. my hardest time is walking on my weekends. I pick up my 7yo nephew and they have a soccer field next to the school so I have decided to go early and walked a mile around the field. this has helped keep me motivated on my days off... I live across the street from the Driveins/Swapmeet and would love to find someone close who would like to walk at night.. I cant jog or run because I take my son with me and it is just a walk... let me know if your interested.. and if we cant walk maybe we can just be support for each other! take care and Aloha!

Hi Kari, (I have a bird named Safari.) :) Thanks for the correct pronunciation of your name, I am sure you get a version of Carrie all the time with that spelling.

Anyway, Welcome to Oceanside and the group. I attend Mira Costa College also. We have a friend who works at the nuclear plant. It would be nice to get to know you and/or do some walking on the beach with you and/or your husband. My husband needs it to.

Howdy everyone! I'm new to Spark. :)

My name is Kari (it rhymes with sorry, atari, calamari, safari), I'm 25 and I live in Oceanside near Mira Costa College, where I go to school. I'd like to lose 40-60lbs. My starting goal is 40. Once I get there, we'll see! Ultimately, I just want to live a healthy, fit life. I'm not sure where this group fits in, but I don't have many friends in the area (moved here from Orange County because it's close to my husband's job (San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station) and family), so maybe I'll actually meet some cool people!

I play lots of video games, and I like science, art, music, and animals. Food wise, I'm weak for baked goods, like cupcakes and danishes. I don't belong to a gym, but I do have access to gym-quality weights, a punching bag, and wrestling mat. I walk and jog down by the beach with my husband once in a while (would like to do it more), and hopefully, if my husband gets on day shifts at work, and we'll be able to take a dance class, because I love swing dancing. XD I love swimming in the ocean, but I think I need to invest in a wetsuit to do that year round... BRRR!

Hi - My name is Rae. I lost 20 pounds but now I am having problems staying motivated to losing 30 more pounds. I need to lose the weight for my health but I also hate the way I look. I just turned 50 and I need to be healthy for life but I just can't or won't do it for myself! I need help! :-)

Hi Pattie,

Welcome to spark people and to the Oceanside Sparkers Group. Unfortunately at times this group is not as active as I would like it to be, but it only takes one person to keep me motivated, so hopefully you will check back often and we can keep each other motivated.
I shop at Henrys almost weekly (every Sunday) so I probably have seen you there. I will have to introduce myself next time.
Anyway, this site is great for helping you to accomplish your goals, so remember to stay strong and you will get to your goal eventually.

Hello, my name is Pattie and I live in Oceanside near the back gate. I work part time at Henry's as a cashier so you may have seen me there. I have been here since 4/1/09. I need to lose lots of weight!! My biggest long term goal is to run/walk a full marathon. I acutally did a half marathon a couple years ago.

Hi all, I'm Riann (sounds like Ryan) and I JUST joined Sparks. I was introduced to it by a Sparker I met on the internet and, so far, I'm loving the site. I haven't been able to use it to its full capacity because I've bee on vacation but as soon as I get back to Oceanside I will be religiously on it all the time!

About me:
I live in Oceanside and I'm a member of 24 Hour Fitness. I have no problems going to the gym and working up a really good sweat; it's eating the right things that becomes problematic for me. I find that this site is amazing in the aspect that it makes you a menu!!

I'm an avid runner so if anyone out there is looking for a running partner or anyone to do any 5k's, 10k's or even half-marathons or full marathons let me know!! I would love to go for a run. ...Also, if anyone is a member of 24 Hour Fitness we could maybe get together and go to a spin class...?

My name is Lisa and I live in Oceanside not too far from downtown. I started here about a year ago and have lost 30 lbs so far but still working on losing about 80-90 more. I'm hoping to find folks to meet up with and go walking after work or on the weekends.

My biggest weakness is that I am a foodie who also enjoys wine and I love to cook. The best thing about that is I enjoy fresh ingredients and since being with spark I have been focusing more on quality of ingredients rather than volume. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Thanks girls for sharing your info with us. I probably live very close to you Kal fo rnow. Moving really sucks, but I do know what you mean about going where the marine corps send you. My family is not currently military, but both my hubby and I grew up as "military brats" as they are often referred to.

Hi Audrey!

My name is Kal and I live in Oceanside near the Mission San Luis Rey.

I gained 30 lbs. this past year when I went from being empty nester to fulltime stepmom to two girls ages 11 and 16. ;/

This year on my birthday in October I gifted myself a trainer and gym that was going to keep me on track caring for ME which is something Mom's and women tend to forget.

This is the first year in five years I have not coached the walking group for a large marathon training group in North County and I miss it tremendously.

I am the Area Manager and National Director for a wonderful Non Profit.

Home is where the Marine Corps sends us. I am a former Marine and my husband is an active duty Marine. Sadly, we will move this summer but this is where I call "home" and pray to return one day!

I am a foodie. I love reading about food, collect cookbooks, planning meals and menus and preparing. I am trying to adapt my cooking to both the girls preferences and a healthy lifestyle -- not always successfully!

Hi Audrey! Thanks for becoming our leader.
My name is Judy and I live in Vista (the Shadowridge area).
I would love to loose 30 lbs, but would be VERY happy if I lost 20 lbs.
I was hoping to meet people in the area that have similar goals and interests. Perhaps meeting up with others to walk / train would be nice.
I have a lot of hobbies and interests, but gardening is one of my favorites. I love being outside.
My food weakness is snacking before dinner. It doesn't matter what type of food it is, it's just a problem.
I belong to Curves off of Sycamore in Vista and love it. I also walk/hike/bike 2-3 times a week in various places (Carlsbad, Vista and Oceanside).
I have 2 children in college, so now I am finding time for ME! I also help run our business which is located in Vista.
That's it! I can't wait to hear from other local Sparkpeople members.
