I limit our carbs. I reintroduced them into our eating plan on a limited amount. For example, I made a sausage and shrimp gumbo for dinner. I made a cup of white rice to serve this over. This is our limit for the week. I plan to have a roast with lots of carrots and I will have two medium potatoes with it. That will be the limit for next week. We can have a pasta dish the following week. This allows us to enjoy these foods, but not have them daily as was our habit before I started this eating plan.

Good for you Whiteangel ... males lose easier because womens bodies are made to told onto fat because of pregnancies ... to protect the child ... lol but when we're not pregnant ... evidentally our bodies dont know they can drop the excess ...lol

My doctor had me on a modified low carb years ago, and it worked for me ... he allowed fruit, yogurt, and white veggies (cauliflower and potatoes) in moderation ... pretty much just cutting out yeast foods .... and sugar ... but it was still the idea of NOT being able to eat something ...

So sounds like your plan is a good one !!!

I personally believe in eating real foods. Whole foods, limiting carbs, but we still need them. When I joined I would not weight myself a I was ready to go into a 3 and my body has settled to a good size for me. I do not need to be skinny. My belly has gone away and when I lay flat in bed My stomach drops between my bones. This feels good when I could hardly get my arms around that area of my body. We enjoy meats, ffresh fish, lots of fresh seasonal veggies and fruits. I keep cut fruit in the fridge just in case I need a snack. This works for me. When I started eating better, Hubby lost 56 pounds, Would not know it, it was easier for him. It just disappeared and my keep clinging on for a while.

The South Beach Diet worked for me...and still does. Not the current version which, I believe, was bought by Nutrisystem and provides the food but the original by Dr. Agatson. The original book and cookbooks are available on Amazon. It is more a dietary lifestyle rather than a diet -- along the lines of a Mediterranean diet.

Thank you WhiteAngel .. I feel the exact same way .

I can read article after article, but when you actually have a discussion with a person in real life, it sticks so much better .. I am hoping for that interaction again .. :)

Thank you ... You know .. I might set up an exchange thread, where people can offer suggestions to make the page more active.. Thank you for helping that idea pop into my head !!! :)

I am all for exchanging helpful ides and support fro the members who are . I know each of us need support at different times. I love keeping open conversation with other Sparkers. When I first joined the boards were really active. I learned so much just by reading these. Each one gave me a different prospective to consider, encouraged me to reach out of my comfort zone to make progress.

I must agree with WHITEANGEL. Spark People is about personal interaction and support.

Sometimes I start playing a team "game" but usually drop out quickly because that is not actual interaction...no discussion between team members. I don't really take part in challenges, either, but that is because I am not at SP for weight loss. I am a self motivator who sees my role as a supporter of those who are finding their way on their personal path to health and fitness.

Thank you WhiteAngel ..

That's exactly what I'm trying to do .. I am hoping that my persistance will bring more and more people back in .. this page has been slowly fading into the sunset .. When I chose to become the leader, one of my goals was to give the page some CPR, and bring it back to life .. :)

Any ideas as to how ... I'm open for suggestions !!! But thank you for your idea !!! emoticon

Does anyone have any suggestions for what THEY want to see ?? I'm working hard getting activity back on this page, and I thought to myself .. "Self ... why not ask what everyone ELSE would like to see?? "

Any suggestions ?? I'm open .. The changes you will see will start coming through probably the month of July ...
