Hello everyone. I havent been on here for a while and havent been following the plan. I am back and will reach my goal. How has everybody been doing?

TAKE THE INITIATIVEl

Don't sit around waiting for enought energy to get going. Get yourself moving and you'll create the energy necessary to keep you in motion. Do yu just not feel like doing anything? That's the time when you can make the biggest positive differnece for yourself by going ahead and taking action anyway. In ways small and largem your world right now is filled with opportunities to make a difference. Take the initiative. The only thing you need to take the first step is

Whew, it's been a while since I've signed onto Spark and even longer since I've done WW. It's time I recommit to focusing on my well being! I am easily distracted :) I almost forgot to introduce myself. My name is Debra, Minnesota is home, enjoy being outdoors, cooking, exercise, family, friends, my dogs & playing Words With Friends.

Greetings from the UK

I have just started doing Weight Watchers online and have had a successful first week. I am just getting used to tracking ProPoints etc.

I am in the south east corner of England.... I am 48, signle and the last time I tried weight watchers was some 15 years back - things have changed

It would be good to have a buddy - and any hints and tips going!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi, KKZMOM11!
Glad to have you join the team. I, like you will always be a sparker, but I love the WW program. I haven't been to a meeting yet since the 360 program rolled out, but I've checked it out in my online account. Looking forward to seeing how the new changes will be implemented.
It is a slow process, but I decided a long time ago (for survival) that it works best that way when you are trying to make it stick for life...gives us time to work out our own wrinkles and customize our programs to out needs.
Welcome again!

Hi Gwen...do I remember you with a previous Spark ID? Glad you are joining us! The Simply Filling plan is a great one!

I decided this morning that I want to create a spread sheet with the new "routines" that WW just incorporated into the plan. Looks like they are very similar to spark streaks/fast break kind of stuff. I want to post the document for our team once it's done, because I know many of our members aren't active members at WW, but really love and use the program, so stay tuned! Once it's posted, I would like to start a challenge thread using them-hope you'll be joining the challenge:)

Welcome, Theresa!
With an attitude like that you will surely succeed this time. You are right- it doesn't matter how long it takes, as long as you don't quit.

Hi my name is Theresa and I've been doing WW since 2009. This is my last and final journey and it seems like anything that can stop me from succeeding has happened. I use to want to take no more then 18mos. or 2yrs on this journey, but have realized it doesn't matter how long it takes as long as I don't give up! So far I've kept off 30lbs of the 65 I was down before a major surgery(car accident). By the end of the year I hope to be down 20lbs more, atleast this year won't be a total loss. I'm glad I found this group, can't wait to get to know everyone here!

Welcome, Valerie!
I'll have to look into that app you mentioned and put it on the team links page. Sounds like it might be a great tool for a lot of our team members!
I did a couch to 5k training program almost 2 years ago, and I'm so glad I did. I don't log as many miles lately as I have in the past, but I'm happy with what I have accomplished.
Sounds like you are doing a lot of great things for yourself! Glad to have you on the team!

Hi everyone,

Thank you Michelle for the warm welcome emoticon . I've done WW in the past but never stuck with it. I joined the 3 month online WW and that didn't work for me as I think I do better with some interaction (although meetings are too much $$). This looks like the perfect team for me. I've been on SP for quite a while and I love the site! I starting using an app called Pts. Plus Diary that I found to be the easiest and most comprehensive. Even has the scanner built right in. I am a runner. I run about 2.5-3 miles 4 times a week. I used the free podcast on iTunes Couch to 5k with Robert Ullrey to get off the couch emoticon
I'm looking forward to getting more involved with this group and reading about how everyone is working the program and what works for them.
Thanks for having me!

Welcome, Crystal!

I looked at your photo gallery and your daughter is terribly sweet-looking, what a cutie! I love the outfit you wear in your own photos and your long hair, you look quite pretty.

I have found that participating at SP, especially in this WW from Home!! team, is what made the difference for me this time, what allowed me not to quit when I felt discouraged. This time, I have been able to keep going, to regroup, and to find small steps to keep progressing somehow.

As she mentioned, our leader Michelle has lost 100 pounds and maintained for over 6 months and she has a lot of wisdom to share, to help us on our way. For instance, check out this thread where she shared specifically how she prepares her lunches in advance.

Welcome Crystal! We are so glad to have you join us! Since you have used WW before and had measurable success with it, you know that it works. It took me slightly more than a year and a half to shed 100 pounds, and it got slower as I got closer. I know that the temptation is great to get bored with it at that point and meander off plan, but it's so worth the patience and hard work to become a healthier person and better example to your beautiful daughter. I agree with you not wanting to use the word "diet". It's a state of mind that isn't consistent with leading a healthy life, which is what we all desire and deserve.
One of the things I struggled with was planning too in the beginning, and slowly I have become an expert at it...well enough that suits my needs very well. Finding what works for you is so important. I'm not a menu-planner per se, but I have learned to keep a nice bank of staple fruits, veggies, whole grains and lean proteins always at the ready for creating a healthy- well balanced meal or snack. Preparation in advance is so helpful to me, but you've got to find the right way for you to better prepared, and you will rock it!
Welcome again!
Michelle

Hi everyone!

My name is Crystal. I'm 32 and I live in Texas with my DH Phillip and our 2 1/2 year old daughter Layla. I joined WW in '07 and really loved the concept. I lost about 25 lbs before I lost motivation though and really haven't worked it since. I've tried numerous things and then give up on them after the "newness" wore off. I've been gaining more and more weight since then and now I'm at the "whoah how did this happen?" phase. I would like to lose 100 lbs.

My motivation is my daughter. I want to get by body healthy and begin living my life as a fit and active person again so that I can be a good example for her. I do not want her to experience a childhood where she constantly hears the word "diet" in our house; she'll hear enough of that from the outside world.

Today is my first day of working the WW program. I know that in the past, when it did work, what helped me was planning ahead of time what I was going to eat. It is kind of a pain for me to do that so I think that my be a struggle - however, I am going to set it as one of my goals. My second goal will be to do some form of physical exercise everyday.

I wish everyone a blessed day!
Crystal

Hi, I'm Irish Ei. I went to WW for years off and on and lost weight. I do believe it is the best program for me. Retired two years ago and only went to 3 months of meeting just before that.
I had wanted to get the PP information. Now, I am starting again to FOCUS on tracking and fitness more and need to really lose. I do love SPARK and am happy we receive all this info for free. My doctor told me about and so happy it is Free!! (-:
I cannot remember how to calculate my WW pp daily target. Was it 27 or 26? Also I think it may have changed, since I gained weight in past few months. Does it go by your weight as to how you calculate your daily Target? Thanks for your help. I want to join this board and was so happy to see it is available to us. Thanks for your help.

I'm Sue. I'm not new to WW or to Sparkpeople. But I am new to the team. I prefer to old plan of WW - actually Core - as I never found the "sweet spot" on PP where I could lose consistently. I lost 113 lbs on WW a couple of years ago, but gained back about 50. I am now up almost 40, but still down 70 from my starting weight.

I can't do anything about my genes, but I can sure do something about my jeans!

Sounds like you have a good game plan! Don't deprive yourself- treats have been incredibly important to me. It reminds me that this a life, not a diet...and that as long as I make healthy choices most of the time, I can indulge some here and there. The last few days have been a little more than here and there for me- but that's ok- I plan to elaborate on that in a different post :-)

Hi all, thanks for the weigh in info below. I'm Annie from the UK. I was going to join weightwatchers tomorrow but signed up for online instead, 3 months worth was just as cheap as one so I went for it. I have 4 stone to lose but hopefully by the time I'm through those first few months I'll be in the swing of it and can just weigh in here. I'm trying to do it so I eat as close to normal as poss, but obviously will have to cut out a few things, or maybe save some points and have them as a treat?

We do! It's in the message board in the Weigh in Forum. You can choose the thread that matches the day you weigh in, or you can just check in on the generic weigh in thread. All the threads get team feedback.

Hi, Jo! Welcome to our little team. It has helped me to persevere even when things were not going as I wished. If I had been without this encouragement, I would have given up a long time ago. Our leader, Michelle, has helped me to stay level-headed and to keep going no matter what. I recently went to WW meetings, but I do not intend to stay long (for financial reasons) & the support I get from SP is essential to me. There are many WW teams on SP (& I have signed up for many), but this is the team that I prefer & this is where I have chosen to post my WI since I came back to SP last January. Since there are not many of us, it is easy to get to know everybody who participates.

You can use the challenge threads for added accountability if it is motivating for you. I like posting my daily points+, it helps me to look at the big picture, not just the number on the scale. I wish you great success. Let's help each other.

Hello, Laura! What version of the points program are you doing? Momentum?

As Michelle (MKelly) mentioned, to the right of this thread, you can click a button for the team's links. Among them, Michelle has put one that allows you to calculate your daily allowance, either for points+ or for points. There is also a long list of foods and their points (not points+) among those links. May be very useful to you.

I started doing WW points (TurnAround 2004 version) on my own last December, then at the end of February 2012, I was confident that I could find online all the info I needed to try Points+ & I switched (to Points+). Then 10 days ago, I went to a WW meeting, because computers and I do not get along very well & I wanted paper versions of Points+ materials. I'm surprised how much I've enjoyed the 3 meetings I have attended, how motivated it makes me feel. In fact, I think I may have broken the 'plateau' I have been on (had lost only 3 pounds in 9 weeks since switching). I think the WW Points programs are all excellent and have helped millions of people to lose trillions (?) of pounds. In fact, I think if you want to follow WW without being a member, the Points programs are a bit more flexible; the mathematical formula to calculate points is definitely more simple. I still own all my materials for Success 1-2-3 (1999), Flexpoints and Turnaround (2004), but I never followed the more recent Momentum. If there are any questions I could answer, please let me know.

You made an excellent decision to follow the program with which you had great success. It is still a great program, very effective. I'm sure you will do well. emoticon emoticon

Hi, Laura! Having done the program once before, you shouldn't have any trouble using the info that you will find on the team links page.
Welcome to the team! We just started working in a challenge for daily food intake for May. Be sure to check that out, and also if you are into tracking your activity there is a thread for that too in the Weekly Topic/Move More Forum. Both are pretty simple to keep up with.
WW is the only program that I have had complete, full circle success with too, and I've now maintained my loss of 100 pounds for 10 weeks! I still consider myself a newbie in the maintenance game, but I'm also very proud of it.
Nice to have you on the team!

Hello all - my name is Laura:) I almost copied Jo's post below - sounds just like my story. Weight Watchers was really my only success. I still have some of my old WW info. but I'm trying to remember how exactly to calculate what my daily points should be. I think it used to be 18 pts. I'm looking forward to checking out all the info here:) emoticon

Welcome, Jo!
We are a small team, but we are active in the team. Johanne just started a daily tracking challenge in the challenge threads, and I'm really liking it. It's GREAT for accountability. We also have the weigh in threads- you can pick the thread for the day you weigh in. Even if no one else is on that day, several of us check in on all threads.
Glad to have you here!

Hello, Everyone! I am Jo, and I'm new to this team. I've been around the block with weight loss and gain, and have been on and off both Sparks and WW for the last couple of years. I'm excited to see a WW team here. I'm not in a position to go to weekly meetings for WI, so I need more accountability than I get from WW alone. Any accountability buddies, either here, or on WW Online would be greatly appreciated.

Johanne and Irene - thanks for your suggestions! I did not measure during that time, but try to pay attention to tightness of pants/jeans - and did not notice a difference. I'll add a few more points on days that I am very active. Thank you again!

Hi, Katie and Hi, Kathy,
I welcome you both to this team! I hope we can help each other to lose the excess fat.

Kathy, if you are very active could it be that you have been adding at lot of muscle mass? Did you take your measurements to see if they, at least, have improved?

Hi Michelle & Kathy - Great suggestion Michelle - being around W/W for a long period of time - I, too, have heard that if you are active and not eating enough - just plain not eating enough of your daily allowance - you will not "release"*** the lbs.

*** I am using the word "release" as I've seen that if I lose something I am going to find it again, and w/losing wgt it's going to come back...LOL therefore releasing it - it will go away...

Good to see you Kathy. You regularly get a lot of activity in, and I'm going to suggest that you need to increase your food intake to see the scale come down when you are that active. I know that may not make sense, but I have seen that be the case with a number of people- some of which I know personally. You may have to experiment a bit with how much you want to consider either adding to your daily target or what percentage of your earned activity you want to use- whichever way fits your tracking method the best. If it were me, I might want to start with adding 2 or 3 to my daily target- but that would be just an arbitrary selection- not based on any science or anything- and tweak it from there.

Good day! I'm Kathy, and am in the my 50's and need to lose 20 pounds. Have been with WW for about 1.5 years. Gave up a few months ago, and am getting back on track. Got very frustrated this winter when I wasn't losing. Had time to be very active, and was earning 70-75 activity points. Didn't use those points, but used by extra 49 each week - and still was just standing still. Ready to give it another shot, and wish I could figure out why I can be very active - but not lose weight! Looking forward to being a part of the team - and best wishes to everyone!

Hi Katie!
Glad you are here. I wish I had discovered how successful WW was when I was a much younger mom like you have, but better late than never, right?
We are a small group, but we are active here, and we can't wait to hear from you. We have a thread for weigh-in- You can use the thread for the specific day you weigh in if you want of the generic weigh in. Either way, we will give you feedback and cheer you on. Right now we have a few Saturday girls, and I think one Monday girl.
Welcome!

Hi,

My name is Katie and I am my mid twenties. When I was sixteen, I was overweight and had lots of success using WW and attending meetings. I ended up losing 65 pounds. Through college, having a baby, and life, I have gained all of it back plus about 20 more pounds. I started following the new pointsplus system about a month ago and have lost 10 pounds.

I've found the it's much harder to follow WW without the support of meetings and accountability of weigh-ins. I'm excited to find a group where I can get some of that support back.

Welcome to this team, Irene.
I too followed the original plan in 1970-71 (when I was 17 years old) and lost 80 lbs in 5 months. I did not get to goal though. When WW started tweaking the program in 1971, adding starches and decreasing protein (they also added healthy fats at that point), I started cheating and eventually dropped out of WW. I have come to the realization that the original program was quite low in carbs (2 slices of bread, 2 glasses of skim milk, 3 (I think) servings of lower-carb fruit, small servings of #4 vegetables) and quite low in calories as well.

I too got rid ofl the booklets. My mom recently gave me (I asked for it) the original yellow recipe booklet with all the fish and veal recipes, but she did not have the actual diet information (#3 vegetables, #4 vegetables, etc.).

If you like to reminisce about the good old days, you might enjoy the fun blog that I found when I was searching for information about Jean Nidetch.
theskinnyjeansproject.blogspot.ca/

I still have the booklets from 1995, which had the Selection Plan (exchanges of different food groups) and also the Fat and Fiber Plan. But I would never want to give up the flexibility that the Points or Points Plus give us. I only recently (8 weeks) switched to Points Plus & I have reached a plateau. I want to find how to make it work. I'm allowed a very large daily allowance because of my high weight.

Yesterday, I was reading PERSISTENCEMIMI's sparkpage & was very interested that she combines Core and the Simply Filling Technique to fit her own needs. She says she calls it the core plus plan.

Good Morning - I was the most successful on the "Original" plan (1968) - but then I had 10lbs to lose - don't recall the plans I used after each of my children were born - (1971 & 1973). Wish I had kept the booklets from all the "generations" of W/W plans. I think I have the plan booklets from the last 2-3 plans...I know I have them from the 1st Points plan.

I was also successful on the plan that was around in the mid-1990's, I was also more active then. I've put on the 15-20 lbs over the past 6 years and now it's time to get it off.

I am going to count points even though I am planning on following the Simply Filling method eating Power Foods it will help me stay on track. I'm thinking that using any activity points/weekly points would be beneficial, especially if I am exercising/walking.

Have a great day.

I have heard great things about eating the power foods. The bulk of my diet comes from power foods, and I could probably use the Simply Filling method, but I track the traditional way, because I feel like I'm in better control that way.
Being on the bottom of the daily target range is tough. I use quite a chunk of my weekly allowance most weeks, and sometimes I dip into my earned activity as well. I make sure I get out and walk or bike most days- that seems to help keep my weight in my maintenance range- so far anyway:)
What plan were you most successful using?

emoticon and emoticon on achieving Lifetime.

I am a lifetime member as well, but right now about 20lbs above my W/W goal and would like to get back there...

I have a difficult time w/the W/W Pts+ plan - was not too successful w/ the original PP plan either. I just got back to walking a few days ago - yesterday I got out and walked 1 mile and have been using a Leslie Sansone U-Tube video which is also 1 mile - going to incorporate a different video from SP in addition to the 1 mile. Hope Leslie has one on U-Tube that is longer so I can increase the distance....

Thinking about just using the Power Foods - and also counting the points associated w/those foods - I'm at the lowest # of PPs+ and don't usually use the weekly points allowed or count the activity point - probably a mistake not counting the activity points.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi - not new to SP - been here for several years - also on other teams. I'm a long time WW, now having a problem - I choose not to go to meetings although I like them, but got tired of spending $$ and the weight not coming off - have a difficult w/the new program so all in all finding this extremely frustrating. Thought I might try another wgt. loss program, however I think this is the healthiest one around. Been a W/W since 1968.

I would like to loose 15-20lbs by October of this year as my granddaughter is being a bat mitzvah in November and I want to look and feel good at that time.......

HI. I joined this group over the weekend. I don't remember if I said hello and since I'm on the phone in a meeting listening to everyone's status, I would stop by and say hello.

I'm still learning about how to get to my goal weight, which mocks me for only being 20 pounds away. I lost 20 already and it seemed so easy. Now I haven't been as diligent at the gym, so my work has to be in the kitchen.

Looking forward to getting to know how this team works.
