I Love my Yoga Class too.
She really challenges us.
Yesterday we did Leg-up-the wall.
And then Pigeon on the wall - I did not know how hard that was. Had cramps in my calfs.
Feel so much better after each class and I am much calmer.

Hi there,

glad you are getting into Yoga.
I started out 4 years ago after I broke my ankle.
It's amazing what it has done for flexibility in that ankle. I kinda fell off the Yoga wagon for almost a year due to a move but now I am going to class again.
My favorita pose is downward dog - my least favorite is Chair.

You're absolutely right - it's pretty interesting what breathing and poses can do to you.

Hello Vic, hope you had a great weekend.
I was not online for a few days - busy as a bee.
Doing better with my walking, average about 8200 steps a days now.

Take care

Hi, I'm a newbie too! I am excited about my new hobby, yoga. It's really interesting, I am reading a book on the subject and have done a few All-Star Workouts on Fit tv. They're fun.
Namaste!

Had a great Yoga class yesterday.
I actually sat on my toes - yippeee.
Learned some new poses too and felt really peaceful and relaxed.
Not much walking today - it rained so I only clocked 6700 steps. Gotta do better than that.
Watching more what I am eating too - when stress hits me, it goes straight to my waist.
Hope you had a great weekend, Vic.
Sounds like you are one busy person. I still don't know how you clock so many steps.
Take care and stay in touch

I did yoga years ago and got up quite a collection of Gaiam videos. I really enjoyed it. Besides for the flexibility it gave me, I also enjoyed a peace of mind I hadn't had before. It's been more than five years since I've really gotten in to it (lost it when I had my son) and I really want to get back into it. I used to do a video at the end of the day but that is now impossible with my life. I don't have that time alone any more. I've realized that if I want to fit it into my life again I'm going to have to change my 'end of day' thinking. So...seeing as I work out of my home, I've decided to do a video on my lunch hour. I will prepare my meal but do yoga before eating. Since I've been working out (6 weeks now) I've already noticed added flexibility when doing final stretches and I'm looking forward to feeling more results.

You are doing GREAT, Silvia! I usually take it easy during the weekend. Had a GREAT WEEKEND, especially today. I taught the morning class and delivered the morning sermon in Damon, Tx. I teach and preach there on the first Sunday of every month. It's about 29 miles from Angleton. One of the ladies signed up for my e-mail ministry. Sounds like you had a GREAT WEEKEND also! God Bless! Vic.

Hi Vic,

did good today. I took Shiloh and we walked our 1.5 mile loop. This is uphill, downhill, you name it.
Really enjoy this walk, it's peaceful and the scenery is great. Only do this one on the weekends, in case I run into a bear, so my neighbors can help me.
Got Yoga class mon and wed. Trying to walk more at lunch but I am not always succesful.
Thanks so much for the encouragement.
Really need it.

Have a great weekend

Silvia

Hi Silvia! Someone asked me once when I was doing 15 miles a day (about 35000 steps), "How do you do it? I replied, "One step at a time". Keep up the good work and respond when you get time. God Bless! Vic

hello Vic,

as you can see I am not online every day.
I try to do it at night, at works it's an absolute nono.
Did well yesterday with my steps, clocked over 8600,
today not bad either at 8560 so far.
I go to class 2x per week, at the local senior center.
The youngest is 38 and the oldest is 84.
It's a lot of fun and the teacher really works us.
At home I try to walk and do weights. Also dabble with Pilates sometimes.
Just got me the 10 Minute Trainer from Tony Horton.
Saw it online and it looked to be fun.
It kicked my butt. I can only do 2 of the 10 minute segments. Didn't realize I was so out of shape.

Anyway, where were you stationed in Germany?
I am from the Frankfurt area.

Take care and keep in touch

Silvia

Hi Silvia1963! Wonderful to hear from you. I spent 3 years in a NATO assignment in Germany, lived and worked among the German people, and learned German....I Loved It! Wonderful people! Glad you are walking 7500 steps. I started with 4000 steps and now do 30,000+ steps. Set your goals for about 10,000 steps, which should be close to 4 miles per day. As for YOGA, I do some of it but still have trouble sitting back on my feet. Do you do Yoga at home or at a gym? I use 10 minutes workouts at home to trim and slim with Desiree Bartlett. She has exercises for both the beginner and the advance students. I have learned to ease into the sit back position until I can sit down without any discomfort. The more I do it the easier it gets. So don't give up on it, just keep working at it. Love the names of your three dogs. Have a GREAT DAY! Let me know if you need help! God Bless! Vic.

Hi Vic,

nice hearing from you.
We are retired AF and live in SE NM.
I am 46 and originally from Germany.
Lived here in the States since 1986 and consider myself a native.
Love it here.
We have 3 dogs, our boy Pugsley (a black Pug), girl Shiloh (recently adopted from the shelter, German Shepherd ) and Bear (old old German Shepherd).
I try to walk at least 7500 steps a day. I have a pretty stressful job that requires a lot of sitting.
Had Yoga Class yesterday (My first Standing Up only class), it killed me. My poor legs were like Jello and the sitting on my toes I just couldn't do.
Did o.k. with the Chair Pose (could never do that before).
Stay in touch

Hi everybody,

I am a newbie to Spark also.
Did practice Yoga for about 2 years, the I moved and did not practice for about 1 year. Finally found a new class I really enjoy.
I am still very stiff and the sitting on my toes is killing me also. Guess I'll have to get thru it.
Yoga did help me immensrly after I suffered a broken ankle, when I started, I could not touch my toes or sit on my tailbone. Hurt too much. Now my ankle is in fine form again.
Just love what Yoga can do for you - body and mind

Hi everyone! I've never been one to enjoy exercise - but when I found yoga, it was a different story. I fell in love!! I'm looking forward to hearing some advice from you pros out there. I just took my first class in several months last night. I had taken about 5, then had to have two surgeries (breast cancer survivor) back to back and didn't get to continue. It was great - but I can tell you right now that the sitting on my feet, toes under is going to take a little getting used to! Blessings!
