Hello. I joined spark with the goal of losing weight and hopefully improving my health. My medical conditions include Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis, Type 2 Diabetes, Depression, Migraines, Fatigue, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Raynaud's Disease. I haven't known a pain free day in over 12 years, but I will not let that stop me. I look forward to making friends and being an active member of the team.

My name is Jessica. I joined this group months ago but haven't really been on the website since. I am a college student that has been struggling with my weight for most of my life. I am finally trying to do something about it. My asthma makes it hard, but I am going to try my hardest to lose the weight. Any and all support is welcome.

Hi I'm Jenny and live in Melbourne Australia. Hoping to lose 110-115lbs. I'm a single mum to an 11yr old boy, Crusoe. We live in a hilly, bushy suburb that has many walking and biking paths around it. The next 12 months, month by month, week by week, day by day I am in NO excuses mode so feel free to give a shout if you hear me crying victim over anything that is in my own power to change! I am looking forward to being healthier for myself and my son.
We are mainly plant-based eaters, swaying between fully vegan at home to being more flexible when out - though nowdays there are so much more healthy plant-based options that again I say - no excuses! We try to keep things low oil and low processed (whole foods). It sometimes takes a bit more planning and preparation which is where I fall down the most.
Looking forward to giving and receiving support on this team!

Jenny (SUNPANTHER) Melbourne, Australia

I will be resolute in consistently following the plans I put in place.
I will be resolute in staying the distance.
I will be resolute in making my health and self-care a priority
I will be resolute in keeping a clean kitchen

I will be a renegade against any bad habits and inner criticisms that seek to derail my resolutions.

I see that this thread hasn't been on in quite some time, but I'll post any ways. I'm Alicia and I live near Cleveland, Ohio. I have two beautiful kids, 2 years and 3 months. I gained a lot of weight with my daughter and only lost half of it, so I'm currently 283. I hate that my kids have a fat mom and I want to lose 128lbs to get down to 155. I haven't been 155 since high school, so it'd be amazing to be healthy again. I've been using Pinterest to pin motivational things. I seen a lot of before and after pictures to inspire me and know that it can be done. Slow progress is still progress and life is not a race are things I need to tell myself every day to get this done.

Hi, pretty new here myself! SP has worked wonders for me so far, I love the trackers. :)

Hello everyone!

I'm new here - 46 years old, about 215 pounds to lose. I'm currently doing WW smart points, which is forcing me to cook at home and eat clean. I'm also walking and doing resistance band exercises for strength training.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone here.

Hi everyone! I have been back at SP since Feb. 22. Lost 10 pounds so far. I have about 120 to lose total. Been overweight about 7 years and despite having lost up to 30 pounds at a time in the past just couldn't stick with it more than about 30 days.

But things are different this time. I have a more long term focus and focus on daily healthy habits instead of just getting smaller as fast as I can. LOL

Nice to be here! SP is really helping me a lot.

Hi all. My name is Pam. I have been a 'renewed' member since mid-December but I didn't begin starting working again on my weigh until Jan. 4th. I am following the SP Diabetes Meal Plan and I have tracked everything I eat (good bad and ugly) since then for a total of 63 days thus far. My biggest fear right now is losing my internet. LOL

I do need to lose 100 lbs. and I might even add 15 lbs. that but I will decide on that when I get closer to my end goal weight.

Good luck all. emoticon

Hi all. Been on SP for a few years, lost 180 pounds, but gained back 40 recently due to some anxiety issues. Back on track since 1/1/16; have lost 4 pounds. I was doing very low carb, stopped working for me so now just doing a healthy balanced plan. Hope to get to know you. Have a great weekend! Thanks for having me!

Hello to you all. My name is Julie and I have 103 pounds to lose, and it sounds great to lose it in a year. However, without a lot of exercise most people say you can only lose a pound a week which is 52 pounds, not 100 pounds. Looks like I need to exercise more. Currently walking 25 minutes a day in 2 walks. In week 2 of my walking program. Am eating 1630 calories a day and on a high fiber, low fat, low GI-index diet with some everyday foods mixed in. Figure I lost 2.3 pounds in my first week of dieting.

On the diet Extreme Transformation and carb cycling, with additional emphasis on increasing fiber grams to 35 g/daily and lowering fat grams daily.

I'm hoping to lose 100 pounds by the end of 2016.
I had lost a good amount of weight, and then began to gain it back. I'm here for some motivation and hopefully a fresh start!

I'm not new but I've been gone for a long time. Too long. Thankfully my mind is in a good place and I have the motivation to stick to a healthy diet. I just need to break my day into 4 to 6 hour hurdles before claiming victory for any given day.

Hi everyone, My name is Sheila. I have not been on in a long time. I have decided to have the gastric bypass. That will happen on Jan 5th. I know I will lose right after the surgery and then I will have to work at it. It is only a tool to get me going in the right direction and if I abuse it I will re-gain and I don't want that to happen.

Have a blessed day, Sheila

Hi, everyone! My name is Chris. I'm 49 years old and the mom of two boys, 13 and 11. I work fulltime from home and am a widow. I've spent the last several years taking care of everyone but myself but it's time for self-care. Well, not just that. My kids are interested in eating healthier, so it's up to me to make sure our environment is set up for success.

I've been morbidly obese my entire life (well, since I was a pre-teen), only having lost a significant amount of weight in 2006/2007, which I regained after my husband died. So really, I'm looking at breaking a lifetime of eating, physical, and mental patterns.

I've recently went through a battery of physical tests and am in really good health except for the weight (and a B12 and Vitamin D deficiency, which I'm working on). So no excuses.

I'm working on keeping to around 1500 calories (any less and I'm MEAN!) and exercising daily.
I feel sluggish but I know that once I really start to drop some pounds, the exercise won't be as draining.

So I'm glad to be with a like-minded group of people who know the challenges we face in getting serious about losing a big chunk of weight.

Hi Anjea,

Congrats on the 30 pound weight loss. That is awesome. I was once 360 pounds at 5'7" and lost my first 45 pounds on my own. After I joined Sparkpeople I lost another 52 pounds. I regained almost 50 pounds after a bad injury that took over a year to heal and another 3 years for me to be out of pain from it. I have lost over 30 pounds that I regained but really need a support system to keep me on track. I am doing better now and have recently come back to Sparkpeople to try again. I joined this team last week and have lost my first two pounds. I am starting over on Sparkpeople just 12 pounds heavier than I was when I was injured. Good luck meeting all of your goals!

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to the team and I am excited to find you guys. Recently, lost over 30 lbs doing the 1.5 to 2 lbs per week on my own. Just got so freaking tired of being over weight and unhealthy. So far so good and I am looking forward to even more success.

Welcome, Cerys!l

Please feel free to strike up a conversation. It's been a little quiet here!

I am a housewife in Ohio, USA. This time around on the weight loss journey I am doing the really hard work .. emotional. I started seeing a counselor a couple weeks ago and have great hopes for some healing of my own.

Blessings,
Heather

Hi Cerys,

I am also new to this team and am a teacher. I hope that you heal quickly. Just hang in there and work into it slowly. Good luck meeting all of your goals. :)

Hi there everyone!

I'm not new to sparkpeople, but I am definitely feeling a lot more excited to start my weight loss journey now!

I'm 27 and next year I am getting married to a wonderful man who I have been with for 10 years. I am a teacher here in the UK, and I have recently stepped down from a position of responsibility at my school so that I can focus more on getting my life a bit more sorted (was feeling like a bit a workaholic, and definitely wanted a less stressful life). I have had really bad foot problems since I was 16-17, and I went from being really active, doing kickboxing training 3 times a week and long walks in the mountains where I lived to basically very little exercise because of my foot troubles, when I went to university I got a bit depressed and turned to wine and cheesecake, and over the course of a year put on a lot of weight, which afterwards steadily crept up. Over the past 5 years I have pretty much maintained my weight around 210 pounds, odd fluctuations up and down, but not by much. I haven't really been serious about losing weight, because I was too busy working and food was a comfort for the fun and social life I was missing.

Last summer after trying every solution to fix my foot problems I was referred on for a surgical consult, and they finally took x-rays of my feet and the surgeon (who previously told me that the recovery and pain from the surgery would probably be worse than my current pain... kinda of a man-up and deal with it conversation) told me that he was shocked how bad my feet were (Duh!!!!!!) and that I should have had surgery long ago... following that I had foot surgery on my worst foot in october which took me away from school for 10 weeks laid up in bed whilst my bones fused back together with the new bits of metal in my foot... was rather painful and frustrating to be off my feet so long, but I repeated it with foot 2 (the not as bad foot) 3 and a half weeks ago... and I am up and walking about already!! much better than foot 1!

I am really hoping that now this is all fixed I will be able to get on to doing some exercise, because it has always been a bit of an excuse for me, and I am not happy with how I am anymore. I want to be able to get up and do things without wondering if I am too big or if people will look at me a certain way at the gym. It is still going to be a few weeks before I will be out of the aircast and able to exercise fully, so I am just focusing on my diet now in the hopes that I can ease into that before I kick off the exercise.

Just had day one of eating well (the last few weeks I have been fed by my fiance - which is lovely not having to cook, but his go-to food is all quick super processed pizza and chips kinda thing, so it was really nice to have salad again!!) and I am feeling really positive!!

I have tried this kinda thing before and not really got anywhere.. so I am really looking to meet people who I will want to chat and work with to keep me coming back all the time, so I hope you guys are friendly!!!

Cerys

Hi! My name is Debbie and I live in Texas. I am new to this team, but not to Sparkpeople. I am looking for a group that will be supportive and I will fit in with. I need to lose 125 pounds and would love to lose at least 100 of that in a year, so this team seems like it might be a good fit for me.

I have been with Sparkpeople since 2006 and was part of a wonderful team that I loved but it gradually fizzled until it was just me left. I tried, unsuccessfully to revive it. Last March I was under a LOT of stress, life came crashing down on me, and I stopped "Sparking" all together. Things have improved quite a bit and I am ready to try again. It is so hard to do alone...I really need a good support system or I will fail again. I am going to give it all I have and do my best to live a healthy lifestyle and achieve a healthier weight.

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and be a part of this team!

Greetings.

Time to get serious. This time, I'm adding counseling to nutrition and exercise .. or, at least I will be after I meet with a counselor next week. I have been on and off the wagon so many times, and pray this time is the one that sticks. Having weighed in at my highest last winter, and being labeled "pre-diabetic" this spring, something has to change.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone, and figuring out the team lingo.

Hello All,

My name is Amanda. I'm not trying to lose 100 pounds, but 50lbs. There is such stigma in myself and in my family about how heavy I am. It breaks my heart. I'm on other boards that have to do with my meds (which help -NOT) with my weight.

I figure if I can lose at least 10 pounds by the end of thesummer, I'll be in great shape. For me, it takes a bout of food poisoning to lose 3 pounds. ICK!! Not a fun method of losing weight...

I'm excited to listen and learn from those having taken more positive steps than me.

Amanda

Hi all! I have been a member of Spark for many years. Going back and forth with it over the years (and my weight!) In August of 2012, I decided enough was enough. From that time, to December of 2013, I lost 50 pounds. I need to loose over another 100 pounds. I have been bouncing the same 7-8 pounds since January and this morning gained another 2. So now the scale is creeping back up and it needs to stop!
I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I just found this group and this is my goal now. From May 2014-May 2015 I will loose 100 pounds.
I do have a lot of stress in my life and I realize that I need to stop turning to food to make the pain go away.
So, Yea to all of us for trying and we will succeed!

Hi everybody. My name is Myah. I just found this group today but I have been on Spark People since December. I started my weight loss journey in October (2013) though.
When I started I weighed 292 with the goal of losing 150lbs in one year. Currently, I weigh 208 and have lost 84lbs in just over 6 months.
So, I am well on my way to the 100lbs in a year but I am really pushing for that 150!
The first 50lbs fairly melted off in about 2.5 months, then slowed to about 10lbs a month. Now though I am really, really struggling to keep to that 10lbs in a month, it is getting harder and harder.
Anyhow, if anybody is curious, I am on a low carb, grain free, Paleo style diet, drinking lots of water. For exercise, I am doing Zumba, Tae-Bo, and some strength training.

I look forward to talking with you all!

I started back to loosing weight about a month ago. Just found this challenge today. My goal weight is 145 so I have to loose 150 lbs total. I have lost 11 in just about a month. Right now it is Passover, so tracking has been hard, but I have consistently lost a little each day. Once it is over. I will reset my streaks and see what happens.

Hi! My name is Wendi and I have nearly 200 pounds to lose. I have been on spark on and off for years. I hit my highest weight ever and finally decided it was time to get busy and work on me. I had given up but realized my boys need me to be their role model. My 2 older boys are both about 80 pounds overweight. I don't want them to fight this all their lives. So I am looking for lots of encouragement. Hope to get to know you all!

Hey everyone! My name is Jess, I am a 29 year old receptionist and wife from Iowa. I was on Spark before my wedding and lost about 30 pounds. After I lost motivation and with the stresses of life my binge eating got out of control. The past month has seen a lot of positive changes in my life which has led to a natural start to recovery of my binge eating, and I am here to keep that train going. I joined this team to give me a focus on losing a substantial amount of weight in a healthy way. At 300+ pounds it's easy to feel like I should put up biggest loser size numbers instead of a steady 2 pounds a week. I feel like the last 5 years has taught me A LOT about myself and my food issues, and looking at turning 30 in the next month I feel like I am finally really ready.

Hi my name is Heather I am a bit of a busy mom as my user name implies but I am excited to put this part of my life as a priority! I am ready to loose weight and become a much healthier me this past year I had 17 or 18 surgeries on my knee due to an infection and I know in my heart of hearts if I had been smaller in size this would have resolved much quicker! I am ready to put my health as a priority and I need to loose at least half of me so a 100 lbs in a year sounds lovely sense I really need to loose about a 155 lbs or more but right now I am looking at it in 5% goals :). Looking forward to getting to know you all and sharing with you all as we go in this journey together.

Instead of giving myself reasons that I can't, I'm giving myself reasons I CAN!!

Hi all!

I've been on spark for years and joined this group at the beginning but am finally back to finish my journey!

Lost my first 70lbs on here and then got complacent and now it's time to get this thing done and be the healthiest version of myself that I can be because I deserve it!

Glad to see that this group is still active as a lot of my old ones have died away!

Hello ALL! I'm Rachel, I'm from the mid-west. I think in all I would like to lose 100 pounds but this whole thing can be so intimidating. I've decided to break it down into phases. Phase 1 is me getting back down below 200 pounds. Phase 2 will be getting down to 175-150. If I'm still in need of more loss at that point I'll start phase 3. That will be getting all the way down to 130 range. I had steadily gained weight my entire adult life. My eating has been the root cause, of course. Not cooking my own food, fast food, and too many "rewards". I've been active on spark for only a little over a week. I have a tendency to go all in for short spurts and fizzle out. The problem always being that I would go to the extremes. By following the spark meal plan this past week I've felt full and not cheated.

Hi everyone I am a 66 year old grandmother of two. I want to lose weight and be healthy for my grandchildren. I don't want them having an obese grandmother. I have started walking and eating much better and staying within my calorie range. I would like to weigh 100 lbs less than I do now by this time next year.

Hi! I'm Nikki. I was on Spark a billion years ago, but just wasn't ready, so it didn't work for me. Ok. I didn't work for me. I've rejoined, bigger than ever.
I'm tired of being tired! I'm sick of being sick! I do want to LOOK a heck of a lot better, but now, at 40 with two kiddos under 10, it's more important for me to focus on HEALTH. I want to be here for my kids as they grow up.
So, now I'm ready. No fad diets, just better food choices coupled with exercise. Up 'til now the bulk of my "exercise" was me going from the couch to the kitchen. NO MORE SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE FOR ME!

Hello, everyone! I'm Healthyme98. I rejoined SP in April of 2013. My mom was battling throat cancer, and I was eating for both of us! emoticon
I had joined SP atleast 5years ago? At that time I lost 30 lbs. However, I spiraled into depression due to a medicine I was taking for Multiple Sclerosis. So, I regained 30+lbs emoticon

Until December of 2013, I was pinging and ponging between weights. From my heaviest point till now, I have lost probably in the 15lb range, but I never posted the highest weight. emoticon

I am SUPER EXCITED to join this team because I have exactly 100 lbs to lose now! emoticon emoticon emoticon
