Welcome and I'm sure you'll find plenty of help here. I'm new too and everyone is so nice. I'm actually starting again....last week ended up being not so good but Nov. 1 looks like a perfect starting point so maybe that will be your perfect starting point as well.

I'm hoping to lose weight and start feeling better and anxious to see how well I can do by Christmas. My total goal is to be healthy and at a good weight by my 60th birthday in September.

hi, i'm new to the team...i worked with spark a couple of years ago, and, did well..but...i got lazy and gained all the weight back....i want to get back into a healthier weight, but, the motivation is not there...
i'm looking forward to working with all of you and getting serious about it again

Thank you for the welcome and that is a great way to get your walking in...with the doggies. I have 2 shihtzu's but neither of them like leashes so I don't take them walks. They play in our fenced in back yard occasionally.

I used to love walking and took my walks every morning at 4:30am b4 getting ready for work and I really miss that. Due to spinal cord issues, my walking abilities are limited more to a walker and/or cane. I'm still having a hard time accepting my limitations but working on those issues. Just a long story and pretty boring :)

But...I love the nice welcome notes I have received and hoping I can get back on track like I used to be and get this weight issue beat.

I suggest using the Nutrition Tracker (above left under My Tools) to monitor your food intake. I was surprised just how many calories I was eating and how distorted my portions were. The Tracker also has recommended ranges of nutrients to support a healthy weight loss program. By adding drinking 8 cups of water and exercising consistently you will have the basic elements of a great weight loss plan.

This is not a diet. It is not about deprivation. It is about portion control, moderation and healthy choices. Toss the junk food and have plenty of veggies and fruits on hand.

Take small steps to reach your goals so you can experience ongoing success. Start with drinking the water and once that is a habit add another step. Its always desirable to set yourself rewards for each mini goal reached.

Well, just wanted to say hi to all and introduct myself. I'm a 59 year old nana with 3 beautiful grandkids and my goal is to lose weight and feel better by the time I hit 60!

I had been heavy my whole life and when I was in my 30's, I managed to lose 90 lbs and kept it off for over 20 years. So, now I'm very disappointed that I have NOT been able to get back in that mindset to accomplish that again. I had health issues crop up that limits how much I'm able to get around and I also quit smoking so between those 2 things, it's been more difficult this time.

So here I am..hoping I can be of help to others and also hoping by keeping track of everything, I can get back to the point where it was doable.
