Welcome!
You have found us for a reason. All the support you may want is right here. Chemo put me into instant menopause. No replacement hormones allowed so...all the symptoms eventually go away. The hot flashes take a few years.
Here I am 18 years out. Any help you need we are here, just ask.

Jan

Welcome to the team! I am 1 1/2 years out from my diagnosis, went through surgery (lumpectomy not mastectomy), chemo, radiation and herceptin. Had my hysterectomy (I was hormone negative, so it wasn't scheduled but chemo side effects made it necessary) on Feb. 16th, also going through that without hormones, so I can sympathize!!

This is a fantastic group, and I hope you feel at home here!

Welcome! We have a great team here in all stages of fighting this horrible disease. I had a left breast mastectomy in Sept 08, 6 rounds of chemo and 30 radiation treatments, just finished 2 weeks ago and getting stronger every day!

This team has helped me so much, to stay eating healthier and walking and just feeling not alone in the journey. Welcome!

emoticon You have come to the right place. SparkPeople is full of people helping one another. Those of us on this team have that special bond... breast cancer has touched our lives. I lost my right breast 6 years ago to cancer. Five years later I had a prophylactic mastectomy, followed by a hysterectomy (my sister died from ovarian cancer). Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi fellow Survivors! My cancer journey began when I had a mammogram 2 weeks after losing a good friend to this disease. I finished 8 rounds of chemo the day before my youngest daughter's 13th birthday. I have 2 daughters, 17 and 14. I had a total mastectomy in January of 08 and am awaiting prophylactic mastectomy on the other side and reconstruction - hence my participation with SparkPeople. My plastic surgeon said that while he wouldn't tell any woman what she needs to weigh, he advises postponing surgery until I'm closer to my goal weight. I gained over 30 pounds during the whole treatment thing (5 surgeries in just over a year and being given steroids each time didn't help!) Right now I'm fighting a hysterectomy without being able to take any hormonne replacement. Yuck! I hope to not only find support from fellow sojourners, but be a support. I'm doing much better eating good and just finished an exercise class, so my confidence level there is up. God is so faithful! I just need help keeping taking one step at a time. Look forward to getting to know everyone!
