Howdy, everyon!

My name is Diane and I'm new here. I was doing very well on my fitness journey for about 5 months before being diagnosed with a Chiari malfomation. My cerebellum is trying to escape my skull via the back door, basically. I struggle with a lot of pain and fatigue and I'm trying to convince myself that fitness still matters in the midst of all of this.

Hello! I am a traumatic TBI survivor of 3 years this past October. It has been a struggle recovering and my weight has taken a plunge due to emotional eating and dealing with the stress of recovering. Thankfully the past 6 months I have gotten a good job and actually feel normal again. I'm still tired, have mood swings, and other issues but overall I feel a lot more normal compared to 2 years ago. Regardless I'm excited to be here and really feel that SparkPeople will help me. I only started this 2 days ago, but feel very motivated. I'm even more excited I found this group. It's very important to speak to others who can understand what it's like to be in your shoes. Very glad to be here!

Hey there,
Welcome to the group! I too am a TBI survivor of 4.5 years. My weight has always been an issue, and in 4 months I will be 50 years old. I look forward to learning more and more from all of our group, and getting bodily healthier each day.
Welcome!
Barb G

All the best,
Barb G

Thanks for your kind comments. Sometimes you just end up with what fate has dealt, but I really do believe that adversity can be a catalyst that enables growth and ultimately makes you a stronger and more resilient individual. It is important to focus on that...at least for me. Thanks for your post.

Welcome to spark and this group. I hope it helps you as it has helped many of us. My life is altered by an inoperable bt so I can only imagine it being by the hands of another person and admire your strength and positive attitude. Good luck with your weight loss and I wish you well with your health issues.
:) Sandy

I am new to the Spark website and this group. I am living with TBI that occurred in 1994 due to a car accident. I hope to find some new friends and support here. It was great to find a group with individuals who are experiencing the same issues I deal with every day...It sometimes seems as if I'm the only person whose life was completely altered by someone else (running a red traffic light) Being disabled has enabled me to grow in many ways and I am grateful for a group like this as I continue my journey.
