Yup; I try not to be. Mostly try to encourage, and, when asked, I throw out a variety of strategies, for them to choose.

And, I acknowledge that motivation is HARD.

Faith,
Sometimes Vanity works FOR us, I know it does me. My biggest fear is that I will become, an ass when I lose weight. One of those people! It worked for me, surely you can do it! I was that way with Smoking to a degree. I have gotten a lot better! Irrational I know, but still a fear I have so I keep a Vision Board handy to remind me to stay humble!

Worrying about what other people might think if they see you overweight can be a huge motivator to lose it if they haven't seen you for awhile. That's what spurred me on. Sounds like vanity, lol. But, if vanity works ...

I saw on my Spark App that I should be down another 10 lbs, but strangely that does bother me but rather motivates me, Cause I know know that I am not keeping up to what I should! Unfortunately there is always one more thing that needs done. But I need to put myself first. The docs tell me I am healthy, but I cannot comfortably do certain yoga poses anymore, that tells me I need to lose the weight. Also I'm to see my family in May and I haven't seen most of them for four years. And I still want to be the smallest sister! I hadn't been most of my life so in 2009 it felt really good to be the skinny one! And even if my sister's have not lost weight, it doesn't matter I will!

Hi there, KAT & GREENIE! Welcome to the team (even if it is a team we'd all prefer not to belong to)! KAT, you hit the nail on the head. We are told from the start "Don't stress out," "Don't get too hot," and "Don't get sick." That makes us want to crawl in a hole and stay there. But we can't do that. We have to continue to live our lives as normally as possible. During the summer, I do try to stay out of the mid-day sun and get everything done in the morning when I have ever so slightly more energy. If I have to ride my bike (my form of exercise) in the middle of the day, I've been known to stuff my sports bra with ice. Works like a charm. And I try not to stress my body too much, but that's part of life. Just like getting sick. Again, we could avoid those if we buried ourselves in our homes, but who wants that?! Let's all do what we can to live the best life possible and that included making ourselves the healthiest we can. :) Hopping off my soapbox now.

I thought I was alone, which is silly, because there are SO many people out there with MS. And losing weight is difficult because of so many reasons. I have problems with heat and I cannot jump or run. I used to be able to run, in a circle, but since I broke my ankle, not even that!. I was diagnoses in 1999, and they told me then that in 10 years I would most likely be totally disabled is I ever got better, fooled them, here I am 14 years later, working full-time and still able to do anything I want! But run, but I do not really miss that, I do miss working up a good sweat, I used to cut grass when I was like 12, 5 lawns all around a 1/4th of an Acre.
