Hi, I'm Karen and will officially start Day 1 tomorrow. I have the book on my Kindle and plan to do the journaling at Penzu.com, at least to being with. I have a hard time sticking with any program such as this so was happy to see a team devoted to it. I just turned 65 and live in upstate NY. Have gone from 230 lbs to 155 in my 4 years here at SP but just can't seem to get rid of the remaining 15. Looking forward to getting to know everyone here. :)

Hi folks! I am on Day 8 in the 100 days of Weight Loss book. I am glad to have found this forum! I have my food & feelings journal & have printed out the first ten days of the Weight Loss Journal. Since the beginning of this I have found the self-talk: "I used to be that way, but now I am different." - very helpful. It's been almost a relief to have this tool. Thanks so much. I say it to myself quite often during the day.

I look forward to getting to know you.

Hi Maria! - it's wonderful to see how the 100DoWL book has had such a positive effect on your travels! Carry on.

Hi my name is Maria. I started following "100 Days of Weight Loss" in late August and I am now at Day 45. A week ago I returned from a cruise where I usually struggle to keep weight gain to a minimum. I am so excited and pleased that I actually lost a bit. I never felt deprived and enjoyed everything including the food.

Yesterday's, Day 44 made me smile addressing "it's not the right time". A cruise would ordinarily not be the right time for me but many of the suggestions and strategies ran through my head and really helped me be successful.

I'm recently retired and have another cruise coming up. I will continue to read and practice the suggestions and hope to have similar success. I am thankful for this site and I wanted to share how helpful all the strategies have been for me.

I know I am not an official member till tomorrow but Mondays are crazy so I'm starting here and now. I keep returning to my bad habits and then remembering that today is a new day, 'I used to be like that but I have changed now'.

Mona inspired me with her blogs, doubt I will be able to write so much as her, maybe only in my diary (I have got a super purple notebook to write in about this 'adventure'.) But others on this team have also inspired me too.
I want to stick to my eating plan, lose a little more and learn how to maintain happily and healthily rather than yo yo ing a bit as I have done in the past. emoticon emoticon

I'm not sure about the journal thing - I have a 'Community Journal' - and they are more private than a blog because people don't look at them much, but I can't see a way to make them 'private' - I could be wrong though. Maybe you could ask a question over on the message boards.

I've been around spark for a while and just want to try something to sort of jazz things up a bit.

Also I may be imagining things but isn't there a journal area on this site? I don't necessarily want to publically blog everything I'm thinking but I'd like to have it out there for my own use. I know there are a million ways to do that online but I'm here everyday so it would be helpful if I could do that here.

Hi everyone~~I'm Mona and live in SC. I have traveled this road before and lost 100 pounds only to gain 78 of it back. I want to get it off again but do it in a healthy way and change my eating habits forever.

I am mother to four grown, married children. (one son, three daughters) I have seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Another GG due in March. I love to quilt, knit, cross-stitch, read cozy mysteries and do Bible studies.

My husband has Altzheimer's and this has been a real year of challenges for me. I HAVE to start taking care of me.

Not clear on what this team is all about but my friend Sharon said it is really helping her. I also see another friend, Barbara aka kindred spirit is here too. Monday is my Day #1 and I am jumping in at the deep end looking for help. All suggestions greatly appreciated. emoticon

Hi...I am Callie and .I am a friend of Susan`s . I want to join in on the "Friends With the Scale" session. I wish I had joined you all when you were doing the 100 day challenge. I have been "lurking" for awhile debating on weather to join you. ...only because I don`t have a lot of extra time. I am a caregiver to my husband who has dementia and so far....I have been committed to only one team. I am a "team player" and will do my best to be an encouragement to this team. emoticon

BTW....in the process of getting the book ordered through AMAZON....used for $8.54. I have a friend who gets free shipping so I am checking with her to order it for me.

Hi....my book arrived in the mail just now and I am excited to start reading it! ROCKPORT9 was blogging about this book and piqued my interest, so thanks, again, Laurel. I think this will be much more in line with what I need in the way of help. Looking forward to looking around the team page and seeing what else I need to do on the team. But mostly I just want to start reading the book!!!

P.S. I am already loving being a Spanglette! Very cool....

Hi - I want & need to work toward a healthy lifestyle. I've tried so many times before but didn't get very far. I just bought Linda's book for my Kindle and am so excited. I know this approach will work for me.

Damp Foggy Morning! My body hates this weather...... so day 2 of it and day 3 of being sore, tired, extra achy and almost bitc$y, almost but not quite, just blah. lol
Still doing the days, not doing quite as well with the food. I get very tired of only chicken or fish. I like my red meat also we can't afford chicken all the time. Anyway will survive. Still so much to be thankful for.
Arguing with hubby over purchase of a truck, that he has shown me we can afford , but I still don't feel we can. Be good to have but if you were a long time spark friend you know our vhicle issues........ constant changing his mind which ends up costly.

Oh well off to start another day. have lots to keep busy with, now just feel like doing them. HUGS

Rejoining and new intro...

Hi, I'm Vicki and I just turned 58 last week.
I've played back and forth with different plans for so long now that it's difficult to really decide what's best for me at this point.
For the next 12 months I want my calories to be 1300-1600 calories a day, and add more exercise to my daily routine. Right now I average about 15 minutes a day to exercise, but I want to increase that to about 30 minutes 5 days a week. A lot depends on my pain level as to how much I’ll actually be able to do on a daily basis. I have RA of the spine and some days I can barely walk, much less exercise.

I think if I can follow this plan, then within a reasonable time I can reach my goal weight of 195 lbs
My highest weight EVER : 267 (Aug. 20-2013)
Current Weight: 256.4 lbs.
Bust: 50
Waist: 44
Hips: 52
Thighs: 28

Hi, I am Joann (jmaries51) and I have been in and out of this team over a few years. I just noticed the Linda has joined and since I am feeling I need a bit of structure to get myself motivated again, I have decided to join in again on the 100 days -

I think I will review the first days and catch up to where Linda is on day 6.

Question - is the journal download free on the Diet Café or do you need to pay the $30 in order to get to it. (which I'm willing to do, only the post here said just to click on the picture of the book on the main team page. I have joined the Diet Café but don't see the journal download when I sign on.

Also I'm considering only going back to Day 5 to sync with Linda's journey but I may go all the way back and just check in with her log every day to guage my progress and get a peek ahead.

@PEGPENGUIN - welcome back! oh, the options!
1) start again at Day 1
2) jump in where you are at Day 45
3) go over and see where Linda Spangle is - Day 5 maybe - and travel along with her

I think I'd go for 3) if I was starting again (and, by the way, I can see myself going right back to the beginning when I get to Day 100, and doing it all again -because there are layers and layers of emotional gunk to shift!)

Hi! Wanda here, just so pleased to find this team! I recently signed up for Linda's Café and I've read Friends with the scale. Not so friendly yet though! I've started 100 Days of Weight Loss twice without following through but this time I've spent some time preparing. Got the book on the kindle for when I travel and in hard copy because I know I will be writing and underlining. I have my journal ready to go also. 100 days-here I come. Actually I expect it to take me way over 100 days because we will be traveling quite a lot and, you know, life is just busy but.....I will do every one of the 100 days!

Hi, I was so happy to see this team on Spark People, I have the 100 days of Weight Loss book and have started it twice. Life gets so busy, it is hard to keep up. I was on day 44 as of May 4th and not sure if I should start over or continue. I adore Linda Spangle's website and some of her blogs really hit home.
I am married and have two teenagers at home. I belong to a TOPS weight loss group that has been very supportive.
There seems to be a lot going on with this particular team and I hope I can keep up with it.

Hello, my name is Jane and I just bought this book today. I am 56 years old and I have been on the weight loss roller coaster for most of my life but have never addressed the emotional side of things. My Mother-in-Law and my Mother have both been ill for a long time and both died within 10 days of each other in June/July. I have been struggling emotionally and eating out of control. I am just now realizing how much their illnesses and caring for them has affected my life for the last several years. I need to help myself to get both physically and emotionally healthy so I can enjoy my life with my husband, children and grandchildren. We love to travel which is another big motivator. Airplanes are much more comfortable when you are healthy! I need to lose about 60 lbs.

So glad to be a part of this group. I am a nurse by background, but for the past 25 years, I have worked as a weight-loss coach, speaker, and writer. I have my own personal issues with gaining weight easily, especially since my breast cancer surgery 4 years ago. I blame the long-term med I have to take, but it's probably also from getting sloth with my efforts, and eating to cope.

As a weight-loss coach, I am passionate about helping people overcome the barriers that get in the way of success with managing their weight. I am the author of three weight-loss books, including my newest one, "Friends with the Scale."

Starting on Aug. 18th, I will be writing a blog post each day about the lessons in the book "100 Days of Weight Loss." I will also include my own personal answers to the questions at the end of each lesson.

HI put a bit of introduction on my reasons to lose thread but here you go! LOL

57, have severe arthritis and fibro. Have had to retire due to this as worked in medical field. I love to walk and can walk but slower than I like. I am needing to lose 30-50 lbs. waiting on a R knee replacement but it has been a year and 8 months and no call yet, yes I am Canadian but at least I don't have to pay or wouldn't be having it done.
Married, 2 kids, 2 grands, we like to RV but for now it is parked seasonal as we have my dad living with us and don't want to be too far. Have land in cottage country in NS Canada and want to build there and be as self sufficient and have solar etc.
Love to read, scrapbook, used to make cards, and want to learn to quilt. I x stitch when my thumbs allow it.
So have tried diff ways to lose, none of the dramatic kind or weird ones. but did paleo, and also have done a naturopathic dr diet for 3 months did lose 27lbs but eventually went back to sugar and wheat... she was helpful but my insurance ran out and so don't go now. I was doing NO S and did good for bit but now am not losing. 2 of my best spark buddies suggest proper healthy non processed food ( we do eat mostly like that) and the right portion. I have issues with portion control and also with MINDLESS eating and once the sugar gets to me or bread I am so often not able to stop. One friend says that is BS but let me tell you I don't always think so.
no matter, will get back to eating more veggies, I do eat very little processed and if it is cookies etc. all homemade but still sugar. Would love to get off sugar other than fruit. what gets me is I did it with no cheats at all for 3 full months. didn't find any diff in pain or anything but did lose.

Okay long winded tonight but have to go put heat onmy fingers they are so sore from typing this and my back is tight. bed calls. night.

If you have enough strong days in a row, that makes a strong week. If you do it again, you’ll have two strong weeks. Do it some more, and you’ll have built a strong month. Keep it up, and you will have a strong year—one strong day at a time.

Hello everyone! My name is Sheila and I am on day 3. I am excited to be a part of this group!

I am 57 years old and a little under 100 pounds overweight, but I could stand to lose the full 100 without wasting away! I have struggled with a weight problem for most of my adult life.

I am married to my high school sweetheart, and we will celebrate our 40th anniversary in December. We have 5 grown children and 5 grandchildren, with a 6th grandchild due this month.

I am an RN, but don't work full time anymore. I went back to school and got my degree in my late 30's/early 40's...and gained at least 20 pounds while in school (the freshman 20, Ha!), plus about 50 more during the next 12 years of working full time. Not that I was a Skinny Minnie before that, but at least I managed to stay in OneDerLand. I haven't seen OneDerLand in at least 12 years.

Basically, I need all the help I can get! But, I also want to be an encouragement to others as we share this journey together.
