That sounds great ! Best to you as your son Zack becomes a great pet owner. Skills that many people our age should have also.

Oh, have no fear, despite the fact that I was crazy about Ollie, there will not be another dog in the house for quite a while.

We are considering taking Zach to a trainer who has a setup similar to Ceaser's. He will learn how to be around dogs and how to treat them will helping out.

The trainer is a great guy and he indicated that he would love to have Zach help out.

Hopefully, he will instill good dog skills along the way.

Hard decision to make for sure, I think I would wait at least a year tho, just my opinion, not sure how I would handle it otherwise. Glad my husband always agreed with my choice of breed.

Isn't that something. That is a hard to be placed in my your son. Well Dad, best to you as you try to figure out that right age for a boy to have a dog ! Yes, I hope that Ollie has found that perfect home with no boots, or young children. I'm thinking he would be best in a female only home setting !
Keep us informed DAD ! Glad I'm not in your shoes !! TeeHee Because I know that I would cave in and there would be another Pups soon !

Today I want to Mid Ohio with my son and of course on the way down there he advised that he wants to get another dog. I told him I did not think he is ready, but I of course thinks he is. Initially he told me he wants us go get Ollie again since he is now 5 he will be better with him.

I do however think Ollie has been adopted out again and I certainly hope this home is a winner for him.

So very sorry that you had to take Olllie back. I pray that they find a home with no children for him and a wonderful Dad like you who can play with him. He sure sounds as if he learned very quickly which is one of the many traits that I love about BT's !
Hope that Zack is okay after his bite and that it wasn't anything to bad.
I had my 1 st dog bite a year ago July 4th ! It was a neighbors dog who was lose around kids and adults at a 4th Party. I had dropped an ice cube on the ground and went to pick it up when Bailey just bite and wouldn't let go. Being an aniaml lover didn't go to the hospital should have, but being nurse I had a bunch of butterfly bandaids on hand and was able to match up both sides. I have never disliked a dog in my 59 years, but that one I will not run out to save if he is lose. He drives both my Pups crazy barking with anger in his bark.

Hope that your wife comes around about BT's. They for the most part protect their family!
Best to you and thanks for filling us in. I was thinking that after a month and no picture it wasn't a perfect fit. When I was looking 3 years ago for a new BT I couldn't find a resuce near me. Ending up doing as my vet suggested and got a new puppy ! She for the most part isn't as smart as my male. But when my Bizz got attacked last month by a cat and had to wear a collar and have both eyes covered in bandages, she took a toy and walked him around the yard to his favroite spots. Finally she showed us that she is a smart little girl. When he was able to remove his bandages and there was a ? about his vision, she still wanted to play the game of leading Bizz around. A couple of days later, we saw him playing his favorite game, chase the butterfly around the yard. His vision is great and now Zoe doesn't know what to do for him. What a sweet little girl she was to care so for her brother in is time of need.
Have a great weekend. ! Kay & The Pups

Actually, I am sorry to say that we took Ollie back to the rescue shelter we got him from.

Although Ollie had some issues from his past, I firmly believe that we could have fully rehabilitated him. Ollie learned very quickly to wait for his food and to wait at the door before coming in or going outside. He learned to sit, lie down, working on beg, to stand up and twirl in a matter of two or there weeks.

He did have some issues with people leaving and with feet. He seemed to have issues with repairmen and their booties.

The problem we were not able to overcome was our five year old son's propensity to torment Ollie. Despite being disciplined many times, Zachary continued to bother Ollie rather than be a pack leader. Eventually Ollie bit Zach. Many children would be deterred, but not Zach.

We were reconsidering even unitl the day we were set to take Ollie back but when my son threw a ball at Ollie from behind when Ollie was just laying down, we really had no choice.

I miss Ollie deeply. He and I bonded so much. BTW, he looked so much like Abby it was remarkable. I will try and post a picture shortly.

One thing I must share that so impressed me was that after a little prodding he fell in love with chasing a core ball. I would take it outside and he would chase it until it went through the border of the fence and he would stop. Maybe the third day we did this outside, he began to chase the ball near the border, then he would get up near the top of it and use his paws to change its direction and turn it so he could chase it around the rest of the yard without having to wait for me to get it back in the yard. I thought that was so amazing.

One last thing. I think it is best that we wait a few years for Zach to learn how to respect a dog before we get another. Having said that, my wife is not a big fan of Boston's since she thinks they all bite as our Abby bit a few people as well. (Having said that, one person that Abby bit I dislike so much, that if I was not PC I would bite her too).

Maybe at some point my wife might come around to another BT, I sure hope so too because I love them so much.

Thanks for asking about Ollie.

Congratulations on your new addition!!

I am so excited that Ollie found a wonderful home ! My Sasha sleeps under the covers on the bed - I know because I wake up to her "pulling" the covers back and sliding under them - The Boston's I grew up with slept under the covers at the feet of my dad - never could figure out how they breathed - but Sasha loves being "buried" as well - Have fun !!!

My wife, son (almost 5) and I picked up our new BT today. His name is Ollie. He is a rescue and was a stray. What a wonderful sweet dog he is. All he needed was a good firm leader and he is just so good.

When I put my son to bed, Ollie just crawled in under the bed until I left the room. I feel so blessed. We were wondering where he would sleep since we were not able to pick up our old dog's crate from my parent's house today. Something tells me he will be sleeping in bed. ;)

I will post pictures later.

We were so excited to have such a nice and of course beautiful dog.
