One of the most amazing things I have discovered about running is the joy of just doing it! Running during the week has a certain joy to it, but you cannot beat the joy and emotions of race day.

Congrats! Way to meet your goal!

Use net time. The gun time is longer, because it takes into account how far away from the starting line you where when the race started. The net time (sometimes called chip time) is from the start line to the finish line.

Awesome job and I'm so happy for you! I'm not too sure about the differences either but in either case you beat the time you wanted to. Way to go!!!!

Yesterday I finished my first half marathon and I am very excited about it! I was really very nervous about it and soo happy I did it! I wanted to finish it in no more than 2 1/2 hours and my official time I think (they have a net time and a gun time and I am not sure which is the one I use here--can someone explain?) was 2:29:21 which was gun time, net time was 2:28:39! The friends running the race, the organizers/volunteers, the spectators and families cheering us on were amazing!! There were two things that truly stood out for me on this race was at mile 9 there were three kids with thief dad playing the Rocky theme on their instruments which totally made me cry and just gave that bit of inspiration needed to keep pushing! Then I felt almost defeated at 12.5 miles and a gentleman said to me, just a half mile left, the finish line is around the corner, don't give up, you can do it! And I did!! It was an amazing experience!!! Just had to share that!!!
