And my reading addiction, aka hobby, keeps me from decluttering!

hahaha I have stuff I have bought for hobbies I've never actually gotten into really doing, like crochet or beadwork etc.

Farmer's Almanac claims this will be a harder winter, and I kinda think it will be. Seems like we've been overdue for awhile.

I have an even weirder thing. I buy stuff for hobbies I think I'd be interested in doing. I'm not even doing them, have never done them, probably never will, but I have the stuff in case the mood strikes me? I am working on several projects at once but just feel mostly like I'm 'spinning my wheels'. At least the retail therapy has slowed way down. I haven't bought new stuff for a long time.

I would much rather be outside working in the yard than inside dealing with the piles of things to go through. Plus there are just some things that have to be done before the snow flies...and we've already had one winter storm that dumped 14 inches of wet heavy snow. So now it will be easy to just chuck all the plants I might have otherwise tried to save over the winter.

If the prospect of simplifying seems uninspired, boring, or too small a gesture to address the chaos that lives in your home, head, or heart, consider this scientific fact: When you reduce a task into smaller, doable steps, and repeat the task, you effectively bypass fight-or-flight triggers in the brain and rewire it. Over time this reduces internal clutter, noise, and overwhelm for good.

Taking a simpler, baby-step approach to life ultimately makes it possible for us to accomplish a whole lot more! And a whole lot more means a richer, more inspired, and more spacious life.

I love these stories. Some are quite short but the characters and the adventures as they travel to historical events and places are just wonderful, hysterical and great reading.

So reading is what I do the most of when I don't want to deal with the clutter!!

And reading is another 'hobby' that keeps me from getting de-cluttering done! Yup, just another way to escape.

Me too!! I was always wanting to be outside "working" rather than inside the house "cleaning" when I was a kid... probably anything to get out of the stress of the household drama. If I was "working" like pulling weeds out or sweeping or mowing outdoors, then my parents couldn't deny that I was "working" and didn't make me come back inside. I just always rather be alone with my thoughts... but sometimes that doesn't work either.

She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms.
