I'm not. The only thing that is new is my commitment. I've been half-assed trying to loose weight since the birth of my second child (over 2 years ago!) and finally gave up early this year. Of course, I gained! I'm 40lbs heavier than when I got pregnant with my 2nd baby, and 50 pounds heavier than when I first met my SO 6 years ago!

Anyway, I'm Rachel (Nice to meet y'all!). I'll turn 24 in Nov, my son will be 4 in Nov, (my SO will be 30 in Nov). My daughter is the odd one out, she turned 2 in May. I'm a stay-at-home mom, but getting an Associates of Arts in Healthcare Administration-Medical Records through the University of Phoenix online. As of Monday, I will have 24 credits (out of 60) and rocking a 3.5 GPA! My son just started our church's preschool program this last week, it's the first time he's ever been away from me or my mom for more than an hour on Sunday mornings, but he is loving it and doing very well! It's a full 7 hours on Tues. and Thursday.

I am a very playful mom, but I also want my kids to learn, so my son already recognizes numbers up to 13, can count up to 17, recognizes all his shapes, colors, and letters, and even knows some letter sounds! He's also discovered the joy of Legos, and Lego-based video games. My daughter also knows all of her shapes (square, rectangle, triangle, diamond, circle, oval, start, crescent, arch, semi-circle, octagon) and, while she still confuses black, white, and brown, knows all of the other basic colors. The newest thing she has learned is trapezoids, and it's the best thing ever to hear a toddler saying that! Sorry for the Mommy Brag, but being a mom is the most important thing in my life, and I'm just so darned proud of my little monsters!

Back to Spark things though. I've tried setting weight loss goals and goal dates, but that never works for me. The summer of 2005 (I was 16) I spent at least 1.5 hours 5 days a week exercising, I walked to the library, I stopped drinking soda during the week, and started eating healthier. I didn't track any food or exercise, and I didn't have access to a scale. But according to the scale at the doc's office, I started the summer at 176lbs, and 4 months later I was down to 136lbs. I want to get back to that weight, and I think I might do it the same way. I know I can't exercise 1.5 hours a day, and that I really should track my food, but I can totally ditch the scale. I think instead of weekly weigh-ins, I will do a monthly one.

So that's my life's story, more or less! I look forward to sparking with all of you!!!
