My name is MaryAlice

I've been on Spark People for a long time. I have a fitbit one. It is the third tracker I've had. Lets hope third time is the charm. I don't know though, I got it 15 min ago and just set it up and it says I have taken 48,000 steps this week and climbed 81 flights of stairs. Off to see if there is a reset button.

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear

Hi everyone hope all is well.

I have had my fitbit for about four years. Two years ago my computer was stolen and the sync place that goes into the USB port was in the computer. it took me sometime to find a laptop I liked then I went and brought the sync place. Now i'm back and try to lose weight.

Hey everyone,

I have had my fitbit for a few years, but I have been looking for the best app to sync it to. I think SparkPeople looks like a great app to use it with. So, I just started tracking my progress again!

I just got my fitbit about a week ago. Love it but doesn't always track my stairs or steps. Oh well, I'm still doing well. Pretty close to my goal weight now trying to tone. Happy wednesday!!

Hi! I just got a Fitbit to replace my spark activity tracker which I lost. I'm still learning about how the app works and how it is supposed to integrate with SparkPeople. Trying to get back into the habit of walking more now.

Hi. I received the Fitbit Charge HR for my birthday last weekend. My goal is 10,000 steps per day. I'm 57 y/o and a practitioner of Taoist Tai Chi (4-5x/week). I've added walking and resistance bands to my exercise routine last month and this month respectively. I've never used this technology and am fascinated at how easy it is to sync to SparkPeople. I'm hoping I can use you all as a resource for how to best use my Fitbit!

I understand the weight gain from sitting down on the job. I gained around 20 lbs also. So having the fitbit helps me to see my activity(or inactivity). When I see one of my connections pass me, it makes me want to work harder.

I am Kat.
I am an engineer. I sit at a desk.
In the last 2-3 years, I have put on 25lbs. I am used to being around 120lbs at 5'1, but I got all the way up to 145lbs.
I have been working on more than just my weight. I want to feel good about myself. I want to be healthy.
For christmas, my mother got me a fitbit One. It only took her 2 years after I informed her I wanted one. She got everyone in my family one so that we can encourage each other.
I use it to track my steps and my sleep. I feel the sleep tracker has been more useful.
My family did not believe that I was getting as little sleep as I thought. After getting the fitbit, they thought it would prove them right, but it proved me right. My sleep patterns have improved with me working on them, but I have had a night where I was in bed for 12hours and only still/asleep for 4 hours.

I am in bed for around 8-9hours most week nights. For awhile it was 5-6hours per night, but now it seems to be getting to 6-7 per night. Hopefully, I will keep improving my sleep as I improve my body and health.

Happy Halloween! I got my FitBit Charge last week and now that I'm more familiar with it and saw I could link to Spark I'm all set. I'm following low carb and I'm going to start Focus T25 next week. I wanted to get used to the new food routine first.
Looking forward to reading and responding to team posts! Have a great day!

I have had my Fitbit Flex for some time, I was really interested in it for a while but lost motivation. I am looking for some online support and perhaps a buddy eventually.

I am 45, married, live in L.A.. I will be using a BowFlex, free weights, and walking as my main source of exercises but I also love to go to Griffith Park and hike in the woods...well, the woods as we have here in LA with traffic noise in the background.

Thank you for reading!

@StarryK, to start sleep mode you tap on the fitbit sort of like you do to check your progress but just keep tapping until it vibrates. Then it's in sleep mode until you tap it several times for a second or two and it vibrates again. If you wear it to bed and can't figure out how to set sleep mode, you can enter the sleep manually as well and then it'll figure out sleep quality based on how much the bracelet was moving when you were asleep.

Good morning all; I am returning to Spark - its been an off/thing for me - I get frustrated when I don't see a change.

I had the jawbone - it was great but then it stopped working; ordered a new one and it didn't work; I had a fit bit a few years back so thought I would try this again so here I am. I have the flex; I am still working out how to make things work - got the alarm set but I have no idea how to set the 'sleep' .. even though I have read it a few times on their site. But we will persevere.

I am aiming for the first month to get 5K in and then progress from there. Somedays I can get 10K in some not.. I have a job where I sit al day - but now that I have this, I find myself getting up and going for a walk at odd times.

Star light, Star bright.

Timetogetgoing: If you want a friend to just try to beat in the step rankings, we could be fitbit friends. I try to average 10K. Some days it's more like 8K. Sometimes it's 15K or so. I just can't do challenges, unless there's some way to do them without a smart phone. (my user link is www.fitbit.com/user/3RCLNT - I'm not sure how to add people with their emails.)

I'm enjoying my Fitbit and have now discovered the way to connect with my SP account. Interested in a challenge and connecting with new friends. I average 10k steps in a day and need to reach out to other Fitbit users because no one in my current circle of friends seems to own one. They're missing out! I'll keep my eye open for a challenge and then away we go :)
All the best to all of you in getting fit together emoticon emoticon

Hello everyone! I just rejoined SparkPeople and just linked my Fitbit to the site. It is awesome to know that there is a Fitbit group on here. I've been a Fitbit user for years. I started with the clip on Fitbit, graduated to the Flex...and now I have the Charge. I average about 10,000 per day. I also love to do challenges with my friends and family. Does anyone in the group do challenges together?

I love that my fitbit syncs to here. The thing I don't like is figuring out the step distance. I thought I had it right, but I took over 16,000 steps and got 5.5 miles. Seems a bit short, but I guess if it gets the number of steps right, that's good for me.

Howdy Y'all! My life changed on March 8 2013. I had a heart attack. I quit smoking and started gaining weight! I got so depressed and gained more on top off that! I tried many time to lose but only lost a # to gain it back. 2 Months ago I decided to really take control of my life and started a new lifestyle of eating better and cooking more at home then eating out. I have lost 9# and doing better using my Fitbit to get in my 10,000+ steps. I am turing my life around, doing it one day at a time! emoticon

Hang in there with your FB!! I didn't like mine for the first week...now I don't know what I'd do without it! It is the best thing that ever happened to me - seriously. Sounds ridiculous - a little piece of technology, but it's like having your own personal trainer. Often as I'm getting into bed, I check and see I haven't done enough flights of stairs, and go running up and down a few more times to get my goal of 10 flights/day! Same with the steps - it is SUCH a motivator! And it WORKS on helping with the weight loss.

Don't give up - you can do this!!

Hi, I have been with sparkpeople off and on for several years. I have doing weight watchers for about a month and I have lost about 9 pounds. I just received my Fitbit today and am going to use it to push me to do more activity. I am looking forward to being challenged by other fitbit users as well!

Hi, This is my second time back with Sparkpeople.... I lost the weight before I turned 50 (my goal was to be under 150 when I turned 50) I made it... Was thrilled to death that I finally had control over my weight.... I put the weight back on after I injured my hip and knee.... So now I am tracking everything I do so that I can take off the 30 pounds that I gained....

I love my fitbit.... especially when I remember to charge it.....

So I am excited and motivated to take control of my life back....

Hello Friends,
I have a Fitbit, but I really want to share how I got it:

I work for a University Police Department in the Dispatch Center. One of the Officers, let’s call him Jack, had gotten he and his wife the Fitbit Flex approximately 8 months ago. Jack is the kind of guy that everyone likes because he is a kind person as well as a good worker.

About three months ago, Jack told me that he was thinking that the Flex took his heart rate, but learned that it did not. Jack and I would talk about progress with our weight loss on and off when we would work together. He wanted to know if I would be interested in buying his two, for a substantial discount. Even though the price would have been more than fair, it was not a good money time for a want as opposed to a need, so I told him to go ahead and let someone else get them.

I was working last month and Jack’s shift had switched over so we were working together, shift wise. One evening Jack came into the Dispatch Center and said “Here’s a Christmas present for you and your wife.” He then handed me two Fitbit Flexes, extra bands, and chargers. I asked how much he wanted and he told me that he did not want anything and he knew my wife and I would make good use of them.

I took them home and told my wife, who started tearing up from the kindness.

Now Jack has an “eye” on me to lose the weight, and I don’t plan to let him down. Even though we just came back from a vacation, I tried to make at least one good health decision each day. We walked, A LOT (bad knees and all), swam, and snorkeled, the whole time being aware of what we ate and took ownership of our decisions.

Well that’s my story and I hope to read of other's successes that are attributed, in part, to the Fitbit.

Thanks for reading,

CopTeacher

Hello everyone,

I am Fitbit Flex since 1.5 years and love it.This really got me motivated and I go along with its use and feed back, although I do not have always the time/dedication to fetch the daily food, water informations, and even some time I forget to charge it...

I noted Sparpeople one year ago, but only felt like joining today. Will see what happen...

I tried to sync my Fitbit Flex past activity into Sparkpeople, but could not result so far. Anyone could tell me if and how it can be done?

See you around.

Hello. This is my second time coming back to spark people, and my first time having a fitbit. I think I can't participate in challenges on the fitbit website because it looks like you need a smart phone for that. I'm way too young to be on this side of the technology divide, but there it is.

It's weird/awesome how motivating the little happy light show is when I reach my step goal.

Thanks for trying to add me on. I didn't want this team. Don't believe the fitbits are accurate.

hello everyone. I have a fitbit and I love the challenges and working towards getting 10000 steps per day. I I have used spark people before, but quit using it for whatever reason. But I am back and looking forward to getting to meet you all, and work towards losing weight and meeting my goal. If anyone wants to add me to fitbit, my email is steamer61@comcast.net

Hi Everyone,
I am Mary Ann. I have been using Sparkpeople for a little over a year. Last night, I got a Fitbit. Hopefully, it will help motivate me to move more, and make me feel more comfortable because of the heart rate monitor. Have a great week.

Mary Ann

Hi everyone! I have been off and on SparkPeople for several years. I get frustrated counting calories so I leave, get determined and come back...similar story to some I'm sure. I'm also gluten free so sometimes finding food on here is a pain. Still, I've had a fitbit for about 2 years now and although it helps, I find motivation and working out with others is even better. It's also difficult to workout because I have a herniated disc so my running, ZUMBA and other cardio exercises have been removed... I most walk and am in the pool working out to Aqua Zumba 2x a week. I need to lose weight for my health and confidence. I don't want to be a burden to my family when I'm older..... Rock on fitbit users!

Hi, I am new to Sparkpeople and new to fitbit. I had 2 surgeries in the last year and ended up 20 pounds heavier. I hit the big 50 last year, that and my decrease in activity due to my foot surgeries make it difficult to drop the weight. The good news is I have lost 7 pounds already and did a virtual walking 5k this morning. I am glad to be part of this team. Happy Monday!

Wear them on your ankle. they track your steps more accurately that way.

Hello;
I am Darlene, and I just got my fitbit on 9/24/15 through a program at work. I love how it syncs to Sparkpeople so I don't have to enter my steps anymore!

As long as you keep moving forward you are going in the right direction
