Happy New Year! I chose Pilson for my SparkPeople name because I take Tai Kwon Do and our instructor said that Pilson means knowing that you will be victorious when you are faced with an unbeatable fight. I know I will be victorious in my fight to lose weight and get healthy this year! I just started using the Fitbit Charge HR and am happy with everything BUT the battery life. It says it lasts 5 days without charge and I haven't made it past 2. I wanted it for the sleep tracking and hate taking it off to charge instead of tracking my sleep. False advertising on that, I think. Otherwise, I am happy with it. I always have a very positive attitude and love to motivate others!

Hi! I'm Jenn. Got the Charge HR for Christmas. Still trying to figure it out. The syncing seems to be the most confusing. But I hope to get the hang of it. So far I like it and like that it seems to more accurately depict my calories burned.

Hi everyone! I have been on Spark for a while but I am new to the fitbit. It was a Christmas present from my husband. I am trying to get back into the walking/exercise realm. It's difficult, but I figure every little step or move is a plus for me. I have had some health issues for about four years. I am ready...hear me READY to start feeling better! Glad to do it with you fine folks!

Hi Folks! I'm new to SP and Fitbit. My current goal is to get up to 5k steps per day on a regular basis. I have a very sedentary job and I'd like my "normal" day to be 5k steps. As long as I take the stairs and park at the back of the parking lot I get 4500-5500 steps pretty easily. Once I have a strong streak of 5k steps I plan to gradually increase the goal.

Feel free to friend me!

Hi, FitBitters! I've been a member of SparkPeople.com since 2008 and the friends I've met here and the stuff I've learned have been amazing. DW gave me a fitbit Charge for Christmas and I'm learning how to use it, if somewhat clumsily so far. At this point I have about 12 lb to get rid of and I'm training for a 10K run in April. I've run 10k plenty of times, but don't keep in form between meets, so it's almost like starting all over again for each race. The monitoring I get from fitbit is helping keep me motivated to train properly again.

Hello! My Dad pitched into support and gave me a Fitbit Charge HR for Christmas. The first one I returned because the sizing guide is not accurate to usage. The new one is charging right now and I can't wait to use it.

Hello!

Got my Fitbit Surge and have been using it since September. Wasn't long after that I synced it up to SP. I love this thing! Wearing it makes me strive to get my 10,000 steps a day as much as possible. I notice I feel off now when I don't get my steps in. These fitness watches should be free through insurance and we should get discounts tiered discounts for varied step/activity levels. It is definitely a motivator for me.

Best of luck to everyone! You can do it! Just remember that it took time to get where you currently are so, be patient and take the time to get where you want to be.

Hi! I got a Fitbit Charge HR for Christmas, finally got it set up and started using it on New Year's Eve and just now finally connected it with SparkPeople! I used to use the Spark tracker (technically a FitLynx pebble), but wanted something that would do more than just track steps. Still getting used to the functionality. I work weekends and then a varied shift throughout the week so I haven't taken the time to do much with it, but I like it so far. The sleep tracker is very telling! I know I don't usually sleep well and this sure helps to explain it. Now to figure out how to improve my sleep.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, successful 2016!

Joyce

Hi everyone! My name is Kim and I just got a Fitbit Flex for Christmas from my boyfriend. I've been on Spark for a long time and I'm hoping that getting back to the community and this new tool on my wrist will help me reach my goals. I'm looking at a weight loss of around 100+ pounds. I've lost 55 before and then gained it and some back. But I know when this great support system I can do it and keep it off!

Hey Everyone! I've been using sparkpeople since July and lost 30lbs. I fell off the track back on Oct but want to continue that journey now into the new year. I got a fitbit charge HR for Christmas and am VERY excited about it! I'm Canadian!! I"m a Nurse which makes it harder for me to get into a routine because I do a lot of night shifts. I"m currently trying to get back on track and hoping the Fitbit will help! I have my husband on board as well and his Fitbit should arrive in the mail in the next week or so!! Excited much!

Hi, all,

Been a Sparker a long time. I've had a Spark tracker for a few years and wanted to move beyond a simple pedometer. Got a Fitbit Flex for Christmas. So far it's a colossal headache. Nothing but syncing issues. Trying one more time to uninstall/reinstall/recharge/reset and then I'm giving it back to Santa.

I had such high expectations of this device, especially in taking my overall fitness to the next level in 2016.

Change is hard. Be persistent.

Hi, my name is Stephanie. I've been a SparkPeople user on and off for about 3 years. I'm starting over fresh after multiple wrist surgeries. I'm willing to motivate people and if you can keep me accountable that would help me greatly. Need to lose about 150 lbs and need to stay serious about it.

I'm also a Sci-fi nerd of all realms love reading and listening to books. Biking for exercise is new to me but willing to do anything to help with the weight loss. Add me on your Fitbit friends if you like sdwright81@gmail.com

Hi I'm Charlie,

I've had my Fitbit ChargeHR for a couple of weeks and am amazed at how little sleep I have been getting 3 to 6 hrs a night. I had no idea it was so little. I'm still getting use to it and just getting a base line on my normal daily stats.

I have set my step goal lower (5k a day) and keeping track of food and water. I'm on the Fast Metabolism Diet and starting walk with a DVD.

Happy New Year 2016 to all!!!

Hello All,

My name is Melissa and I have had my fitbit for about a year. I was doing really well and lost almost 30 lbs. In the later part of this year I had some struggles and slipped in walking/exercising and eating healthy. Unfortunately, I gained most of the weight back but I'm ready to try again and hopefully I will stick with it and get back to my healthy lifestyle.

Hello to All! LIke many, I received a FitBit for Christmas... FitBit "One" in burgundy! Still getting acquainted with its functions, after having 2 SparkTrackers since joining SP. I've been stuck on a plateau for too long. With the new tracker and a commitment to follow a "nutrarian" (Eat To Live) way of eating, I should... make that... WILL get to my goal weight in 2016. And, just for the record, I live near the Washington coast and enjoy walking, bicycling, writing, and arts & crafts.

The peace of the world begins at home.

I've had a Fitbit One for about 2.5 years and I love it. I've struggled with my weight most of my life but life changes made it hard to get my 10k steps daily. I'm finally getting serious about losing the weight. No matter how tired I am after work, I'm determined to hit that step goal.

Hello! I'm a 39 year old wife and mother of 4, i naturally have three children, my husband has one. We do not have any together. I just became a grandmother on 12/23/2015 to the most beautiful baby boy ever. Welcome Hunter Douglas!!!

I started my journey back on Feb 1, 2014 at around 218 pounds and got all the way down to 162.5 in October. I got cocky, stopped exercising and old eating habits crept back up....I packed back on the pounds. Then, in March of 2015 my husband suffered a stroke so from March till September I got all the way back up to 196! So 9/30/2015 I rededicated myself back to healthier eating. So as of today (12/29/2015) I am 177.5 and want to reach my goal of 150 by May 2016 and ultimately 135 by years' end 2016. I know I can do it!!!

i turned 50 in October also and somehow those few extra pounds magically appeared. I've had my Fitbit for about a year, but have not used it on a regular basis. I prefer to ride a bike because it is easier on my ankles, knees, hips, and lower back than walking or running is. I figured out how to enter my bike stats manually into fitbit, but wish I could figure out a way for it to track my ride. Any ideas?

Santa gave me a Fitbit for Christmas! I've lost 60 pounds so far and I'm hoping my Fitbit will help me with the 40 still left to go :)

Hello all! I have had a Charge HR for about 2 weeks now and I am LOVING IT! I love the sync between SP and Fitbit, because I was frustrated at the thought of having to customize the Fitbit page like I have my SP page. Anyway I am looking forward to shedding A LOT of weight and hope the Fitbit will be part of the motivation.

Good morning, emoticon
My name is Patty and I just got my FitBit for Christmas. I am 58 years old and seldom leave the house so I'm hoping that the FitBit will help to motivate me. I'm hoping to get back to my Zumba class and start racking up the fitness minutes.

My food eaten doesn't seem to be syncing between my SP and FitBit. Am I missing something?
I hope you all had a nice Christmas emoticon
Thank you

I found an answer while reading through some posts. If I add my food eaten in SP it will sync with my FitBit just fine.

Greetings All,
I'm Erica and new to this group. My fitbit was a Christmas present request. I loved my "other" device, just got tired of the replacements. I'm excited to join this group. I'm also excited to join my family, who also have fitbits, in challenges.

I'm a long-time, yet off-and-on member of SP. My goal for the next week is to stay consist on SP and deliberate in my efforts to accomplish my goals. Looking forward to the challenges, support and fun!

Hi all,
I'm Mica, and as you may have guessed, I just got a Fitbit for Christmas. I'm 59, I work fulltime as a bookeeper. I'm almost at my goal weight...you can see my weight loss progress at the end of my signature. I workout every morning, doing strength training every other day, and doing high intensity intervals on the elliptical on the alternate days. I also walk at least 2 miles every day, usually on my lunch break. I'm been using a pocket pedometer, so I'm interested to see how my steps and miles compare on the fitbit. I was hoping to clip it on my shoe, but I guess that's not an option...seems like waistband or bra is the recommended method. I'll have to figure out how to classify my workouts so it knows when I'm on the elliptical or the spin bike or walking.

I ate too much today, but it's Christmas, afterall. Tomorrow I'll get right back on plan.

Hi! I'm Margaret and I got this Fitbit for Christmas from my husband. I am a member of TOPS and over the past year I have not been doing well with my weight loss journey. I am an emotional eater and binge eater. I have two teenagers and life is very hectic. I tend to put everybody else first and am very much lacking self-esteem. The holidays are really taking a toll on my weight and I need to get back on track quickly. I do go to a gym (Planet Fitness) on a regular basis, usually 6 days a week and I am there for a little over an hour each time.

I hope to see much encouragement and offer the same.

Merry Christmas and good luck to all..... emoticon emoticon

I'm Gwenlion. I'm 31, 5'1" bouncin around 140lbs-150lbs and hoping to loose about 20 lbs of fat before my sister's wedding in July 2016. I'm trying to focus on my measurements, sleep and feelings of fitness and health. I want to fit into my favorite vintage dresses again, and hopefully a beautiful, wasp-waisted maid of honor creation in the next couple of years :D. My hobbies are sewing, drawing, writing and metal work; any kind of hands on craftiness really.

I have done the 5:2 diet and I am starting it again. The end of the semester threw me off a bit, but I'm ready to recommit. My boyfriend bought me a fitbit for my birthday and I love it, especially the sleep tracker. This is an area of fitness I really need to focus on. I never get enough sleep and I know it affects me negatively. I can discipline myself with food and exercise, but getting quality sleep and enough sleep has always been a challenge.

I'm an avid science fiction and fantasy fan. I love Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Firefly, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Hunger Games...and the list goes on and on. I'm finishing a degree in Human Development with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education. I'm a very friendly and open person and I'm looking forward to making new friends here.

Hi, I'm Amy. I had been on Sparkpeople in the past but have a new ID here so that I can truly have a fresh start. I got my Fitbit Flex as a Mother's Day present (after a lot of not-so-subtle hinting) and have been using it faithfully since to track my steps.ever since I got it. I had just gotten out of the hospital/physical rehab center after 3 1/2 weeks. I've used it to make sure that I am moving regularly but also to make sure I'm not overdoing it.

Hi. I just joined Sparkpeople yesterday. When I attached my Fitbit the system told me I am a part of this group. But what does that mean? What am I supposed to do? And why can't I find this on the app? Sorry so full of questions
