Tracy,

It's not cheating, as any movement is better than no movement and we should be able to have fun with what we're doing, which is getting God's Temple in Divine Order!

Hi All! My name is Tracy and I have had my fitbit for about 1 1/2 years - but until recently, I never really realized what a wonderful and motivating tool it could be in my weigh loss journey.

I was averaging about 4-5K steps a day and wondered how in the world anyone could walk 10K (or more) a day. I finally saw an article on Pinterest on how to add steps to your day and the article linked back to sparkpeople (another tool that I was not utilizing!).

That article really motivated me - I work at a desk all day and am alone in the office most of the time - so leaving to go walk is not really an option for me. I read the article and thought of other ways I could get steps in and started committing to getting at least 500 steps an hour while at work - I march in place while making copies or while on hold on the phone. I take a "dance break" every hour (this was inspired by seeing how many steps I racked up after a Zumba class) - I pick a song on my phone that is really upbeat and is 3 - 4 mins long and I just dance around for the duration of the song :)

With just these little changes - I have gone from struggling to get 4K steps a day to getting between 12 - 15K steps a day. And while I am sure some people (including my hubby) consider it "cheating" - I consider it a victory - because I am moving more - my active minutes have gone from 10 -15 PER DAY to between 75-90 without adding in any other exercise I do!

I look forward to getting to know my fellow fitbit users and would welcome any friend requests on fitbit or any other tips anyone wants to share on getting more steps!

Before I introduce myself, I would love to say emoticon to the SP Family Newbiehaitian! You've definitely picked the right place to be, in order to get a healthy lifestyle change in place, as you get fit with lots of FUN!

My name is Nancy Jean and I just got my fitbit yesterday, and it's a challenge for me, as I try to understand how this things works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been Sparking for a couple of years now, and I absolutely love it! I did have a SPART, and lost it, so I was using a STRIIV pedometer. However, God blessed me with the funds to get a fitbit. I have the Charger HR and I put it on late yesterday evening. I believe I have it synced with SP Land and I'm not sure how to get things counted as a workout with this, so I've been keeping track on a notebook.

Here's to all of us getting healthier, as the days go by! emoticon

Blessings!

Hi everyone, I'm new to Sparkpeople. I would really like to begin living a healthier lifestyle. I think the three things that will help me achieve this is a better diet (no fads here!), becoming more active and making some fitness buddies along the way for motivation/inspiration/encouragement/accou
ntability. I'm getting a handle on the first two things, could really use help with the third aspect. Feel free to add me as a friend and together we can encourage each other to realize our potentials. Happy stepping emoticon

Hi, I'm Cyndee and I use a Fitbit Flex. I started with a Zip and upgraded to the Flex and been using it for about a year now. I started with a 5K daily goal, but I've down up to 16k per day on occasion - when I have the time to walk. Looking forward to warmer weather and going outside more which helps.

Greetings! I just bought a used Zip from a friend of mine at work who upgraded to the HR. I had no idea what i was missing! I've not behaved very well over the years tracking on SP and had gotten out of the habit of being healthy after a surgery, but hopefully I'm back for good. I think the FB will help a lot. I just wish the food and water would sync from FB to SP as I find the FB nutrition tracker much more convenient to use, especially at work or on the go.

Greetings and happy Monday. I'm new to Fitbit but not new to SP. I'm hoping the Fitbit will keep me aware of my activity level. So much of my time is walking a classroom or behind a desk. It isn't exactly a high level of activity. Any activity is good activity so maybe it will make me feel better about my laps around the classroom!

Live life. Give joy. Be at peace.

Hi. My name is Dianne and I love my fitbit. I have three daughters. My middle daughter bought a fitbit for her older sister for a birthday gift but the older daughter had already bought herself a garmin fitness bracelet so I got the fitbit by default. I have worn it ever since.

Hi, All!

I just received my new Fitbit Blaze yesterday. It's a replacement for the Fitbit One I sent through the laundry late last year. I'm glad to be working with a Fitbit again!

I just got a new fitbit, the blaze. I am getting used to wearing it - I never wore a watch.
I hope it will help to motivate me to lose weight.

I turn 50 this June, and I am trying to lose weight now, as I know menopause will make it harder.

I joined the Biggest loser challenge, and the team support is helping.

Hello I'm Shelley. Just joined this team the other day but haven't introduced myself yet. I got a fitbit for Christmas and it has really helped to motivate me and try to help push me toward a healthier lifestyle. I've been surprised to find that I am often under my daily calorie intake for my goals. Never thought that would be an issue. Still trying to figure out using fitbit in connection to this site but I'll get it sorted out. I look forward to interacting here and hope this can help push me even more.

Hi I'm Di. Have had my fit bit for awhile - just a zip. Just started to use it this week. Trying to figure out what my level of activity is this week and then set some realistic goals next week. Also trying to figure out what certain things mean on my dashboard. Will probably reach out to this group for some help once I get an idea about it. Thanks in advance. emoticon

I started Fitbit use in August. I love it. I started out at 2000 steps and have now built up to 11000. I am 61, and would love to have Fitbit friends from Sparkpeople. Keep on keeping on everyone.

I hope my kids learn as much from me as I learn from them. ( both my own children and the children I work with.)

Hello everyone,
I am a mom of 3 boys with a 16 year difference between my last 2. I love going to the gym and have been going there for 3 years. In that time I was able to maintain my weight but not loose any. I sought the help of a nutritionist and with the diet they created me and an hour a day at the gym, I have lost over 45 pounds. I am currently 15 pounds from my goal. A few set backs have happened but I will not give up. I hope to reach my goal and that I can help someone realize all goals are possible.

I joined this team a few weeks ago but don't think I ever introduced myself. My son got me a Fitbit for Christmas. Mostly, it has kept me motivated, and I feel guilty when I don't reach my goal. I have a long way to go to get to my weight goal, and I typically lose weight slowly. My reasons for staying active now have more to do with health issues. High cholesterol, blood pressure, and pre-diabetic diagnosis should be reason enough to make changes.

hi folks
I am 76 and want to be an inspiration to other seniors.
Just read three inspiring books list on my page. Been ill for 4 months and believe exercise will help to bring me in shape.

prior exercise is the only thing according to my card. doc that saved 14 years ago when I had a heart attach. I plan to do exercise of all types for at least one hour a day for six months and then move on to the more intense.
I want a Fitbit to help me do this

I have been using my fitbit for 3 weeks but only joined the team today. I love watching my steps and my activity minutes increase but I don't bother with my water and food log because I do it on SP.

I synced my fitbit with SP today, I am not sure if it works both ways or only one way but I guess I'll find out!

Have a great day!

Hello,

I joined SP along time ago. Weight has been going up-and-down on fad diets. Now I just want to eat right and exercise daily (which is killing me). Purchased a fit bit in mid-November and that has encouraged me to get moving daily. I love getting those happy faces when I accomplish my goals.

Started the whole 30 to address my digestion issues and sugar addiction on Feb 1 with four other friends. I'm the only one still on it. Was hoping that the 4 of us could keep each other encouraged, but that didn't happen. It seems that the only encouragement I got was when they called because they needed some type of encouragement, but such is life. So with that in mind, I decided to get a little more involved with the forums.

I live in California, work full time. love cruising, pink and the Lion King. Call me PinkeeBee, PB, or Bee

Hi, My name is Jackie and I've been battling my weight for basically my entire life. I always kept saying once I get settled in a routine I'll get better about my weight. Well my life has never become routine. So I'm taking a no more excuses route and going to get serious. Also the gym that is literally across the street from me is doing a knock of biggest loser competition (I think for trade mark rules they can't call it biggest loser). Next week is my weigh in and it start March 1st. I really hope being back with SP and having a fitbit will help me achieve my goals

Hello all!

I just purchased and setup my very first Fitbit. I have the HR Charge.

I am still working out the kinks and what I should be doing with it and what measures what but overall I am excited. It needed charging so I didn't get much tracked today. However, I do plan on wearing it to bed and all day tomorrow.

At this time I am sedentary and do not have a fitness plan in place. I want to wear it for a week to see what kind of numbers and data I can collect about myself and then I will make goals.

Hello, FitBit user for 1 and 1/2 years. On my second one, a Charge hand-me-down from my grandson. It is held together with three strips of Lycra. 10,000 is my "goal, goal", but right now I have a goal of 7000. I just re-engaged in Spark, been around about 10 years. I like the wrist buzz of my Fitbit when I hit 7000 for the day. 10-15,000 is in the future, but doing what I can do at the moment.

Hi all. I am Pat from Kansas. I just got my Fitbit flex today. I think I have it all set up but for some reason it does not respond to my tapping. When I plug it into my computer all five lights blink which indicates it is full charged, but when I take it off it won't sync with the app. So I am leaving it plugged in for awhile.
I am a 65 yr old grandma who wants to keep in shape so I can enjoy my 2 year old grandson.
Five years ago I lost a lot of weight but once I stopped tracking my food the weight started piling back on. So I am back with SP and rededicated to following the program.

Hi there, I am Tiffany located in sunny (sometimes sunny) southwest Florida. My kids and husband got me my fitbit for christmas and I am in love with it. I love the nightly logs it keeps of my sleep. It was great today for the first time after syncing it with my SP account I was able to watch the calories I burned without entering them myself. Looking forward to great days ahead!

As soon as you accept yourself for you, you will be able to accept the true facts.

Hello everyone. I'm trying my new Fitbit Charge HR and so far am loving it. Have gotten very out of shape since fighting lymphoma last summer but am trying to get motivated again. Today, here in Maine, it has been snowing, freezing rain and now rain so little hard to go outside and walk. Tomorrow I will do better. Have a wonderful day everyone

Hi everyone! This year for Valentine's day my husband got me the Fitbit Charge and I got him the Fitbit Aria smart scale. We're both very data driven and I'm very excited to see my body weight and body fat % go down thanks to eating right and exercising more. Good luck to everyone on their journey and don't forget to take the stairs!

HELLO EVERYONE,
I have been on spark people for 3 years now. I belong on 3 other groups, but only active on 2.
I have had my fitbit now for 2 weeks. I must say now I know why it is so hard to keep this weight off. I have a hard time in the winter due to bad weather which we have a lot of in Maryland. My DH is constantly battling his belly weight so one would think with two of us trying it would be easy. Our problem is I love cooking, baking especially and we love our deserts. I still have approx 15 lbs to lose.

But I never give up. If I did I would weigh a lot more. I gain easily, but lose slowly! Where have I heard that before?!

My goal now is to walk more. I am retired since 2002, so very inactive except for housework which my DH takes away from me in the winter as he gets bored also! He is now shoveling snow. It has snowed all day, but has stopped now. We were 7 degrees last night, but weather forecast says rest of week will get warmer. It is 25 now.

ok, hoping this fitbit will get me motivated. My calories on SP run about 1300, but weight stays on. I am struggling with a 3 to 4 lb weight gain since January. emoticon

Hello! I have been a Spark member for 9 years. I have lost and regained weight over and over. However, I lost 25 pounds in 2015 and have kept it off. I still need to lose about 10-15 more. I have had my Charge HR for one month and I love it. It motivates me and keeps me moving. I was wheel chair bound for almost 3 years but now I can walk about 1.5 miles before I have to rest. I still have chronic pain, but it hurts if I don't walk and it hurts if I do...So, I choose to move! I look forward to meeting you!

This is a re-introduction. I'm Wade from Ft. Wayne, IN. I started using Fit Bit One three years ago, but last summer it no longer wanted to work after going through my washer and dryer in the pocket of some shorts (I wonder why?). I just purchased, and synced, a new Charge HR yesterday. My Fit Bit keeps me motivated to move and exercise. Now, if I could get a choker/shock collar that would activate when I get ready to eat something I should not eat!
