Hi, Thanks for the welcome. I had the Alta HR, but wasn't keeping stats good. So returned and now I have an Inspire HR. Concerning calories I have googled the treadmill mph, dist and caloric burn...so it is somewhere in between for me. It is definitely not reading my steps, but I have it set for calories..so I assume that is why. Still learning all the ropes of it!

emoticon from another senior. Calories burned is an est at best. There are just so many variables, I happen to know that with walking Fitbit uses the calorie burn of if you walk on a treadmill with no incline and do not hold the side rails. Now if you walk outside, to get a true calorie count you would have to factor in weather conditions, the kind of surface you are walking on and how flat the surface is. I'm in the Ozarks. I believe Fitbit also uses a stationary bike, but I don't think it distinguishes between a recumbent bike and a bike with a regular bike seat. If you go outside you have all the things you have to consider walking, plus how much time you costed.

activity on a treadmill a lot of times does not enter the same way as normal walking which is why you are going to see differences in calories burned

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? Buckets of wasted time that could be an exquisite lace shawl. ~Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, At Knit's End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much A true friend reaches for your hand but touches your hea

Hi, my name is Shirley. I am a senior, a very much so one, and actually started this program in December. Have lost almost 30 lbs. Recently I hit a plateau, but seems it may be getting better. I take many meds and those can really mess with weight loss. I have questions about the fit bit and the accuracy of the readings. I walk the treadmill 25-30 minutes per day plus doing chair yoga and resistance bands. My caloric reading from my treadmill and fitbit are not the same. The treadmill always has a higher calorie burn. Does anyone have this happen? It does tell me because I do not have bluetooth my readings might be erratic. I have downloaded the program to my phone again seeing if this will help. Would appreciate any input on this matter.
