I only recently changed my sparkname. I wanted it to mean something.

My brother passed away in 2007 and we had this thing where I'd ask how he was and he'd say "I'm just ducky" I chose this name to tell him that he's always on my mind but I'm doing ok. It was my way of moving forward.

My hubby and I owned a pet store for many years, specializing in parrots and behavioral training. The name has been my SN for a very long time. Unfortunately, the economy pretty much did in the shop, but the friends and fids (feathered kids) remain close to us both.

I use this for most everything that is not professional. Since the first ultrasound picture I have called my daughter Peanut (cuz that is what she looked like - a peanut). She was born in 1996. When I started doing things online (making email accounts and what not) it just made sense.

My spark name is a combo of my real name, Jenny, and the nickname my best friend gave me in junior high, jellybean. I acquired this nickname because most of the time I'm really sweet, some people would say almost disgustingly sweet. But every once in a while I'll surprise you. Like when you eat a red jellybean thinking that it's cherry and it turns out to be cinnamon - not exactly sweet and definitely not what you were expecting. One day when I was in a real mood she informed me that I was a cinnamon jellybean that day, and "jellybean" kind of stuck.

My real name is Dale. I had my son when I was 40 years old. I said that I wanted to be able to out-run when I am 50 and he is 10. I will be 49 in October. I have alot of weight to lose. So I want to be FABULOUS and FIT BY 50. So I chose FABNFITBY50. Wish I had been a little more creative though.

My real name is Connie, and my nickname growing up was FooFoo. Thus Confoo, which is sometimes ConFu, with Fu being the first 2 letters of my last name. However, since I have been overweight my entire life and associate FooFoo with being a chubby little girl, I am thinking of changing my SP name. I am not sure what I would change it to though.

Goal #1 to lose 1 pound met on 9/19/10.

Hi,my Spark name is Winter Run. About a year and a half ago I started running at least 4 times a week. Where I live that can mean some runs are cold and snowy - like -25C (-13F) and I have to wear a lots of layers and a face mask. It can be a little cumbersome. Well one day this summer I was out and I was hating every step, it was 32C (89.6F) and so humid I could hardly breath. When I got home I was poking around on the computer for some inspiration and found SparkPeople. I made my Spark name WinterRun because on that day what I would have given for a frosty winter workout!!

It comes from being the dad of two Olympic Gold Medalist synchronized swimmers. 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Their names are engraved on a polished block of granite in Atlanta's Centennial Park. I've been past them a few times over the years, pretty special.

I enjoy reading these stories--they're so fun!

I changed my sparker name a while back because of a poll about usernames being negative, neutral, or positive. I wanted to illustrate the new me; my new philosophy and lifestyle, etc. I'd seen a video of my [1st] yoga teacher via dvd talking about mudras, etc. where he mentioned "gen ki warrior" (gen~source; ki~power). ...it could mean~ "energetic warrior," too.

This story sounds totally lame, btw! And sorta long too...

I used to play EverQuest with my husband. I had a character for a long time named Kiarah (a name I picked out long ago that I liked was Kirah...reflecting back, I think I probably nabbed the idea from Dark Crystal...Kirah was taken so I went with Kiarah). When I screwed that character up, I had to switch and make a new character. I made a bard (singing character) named Callisandra De'Crescendo (cuz I was uber cool, ya know?). When a friend (online) saw the new name he said something like, "Calli...Kia...whoever you are." CalliKia stuck and he started calling me that from then on out.

The reason I've kept is that nobody else uses the name...if I log into a site for the first time and it says "username taken" I know I've logged in before and just need to figure out my password! *lol*

Oh, my real name is Esther. :)

My name has a long story attached - well, semi-long. It was a night out and after a few drinks my friend kept referring to herself as a polynesian princess (from days in the UK - we're a rarity) so to match up the guys decided to call me island goddess but I'm from New Zealand hence NZgoddess.
I haven't used this name in ages, but my usual one was taken so I had to think of something I'd remember and nzgoddess it is. I've been trying to edit it so I can change my name but I don't know how

My name Lotusflower was inspired by the symbolism of the flower:

The lotus flower starts as a small flower down at the bottom of a pond in the mud and muck. It slowly grows up towards the waters surface continually moving towards the light. Once it come to the surface of the water the lotus flower begins to blossom and turn into a beautiful flower.

Spiritually the lotus flower has become a symbol for awakening to the spiritual reality of life. The lotus represents life. As the lotus flower grows up from the mud into a object of great beauty people also grow and change into something more beautiful.
