Hi, I'm Desiree. I'm new to Sparkpeople and I'm so excited about this program, I need a little accountability in my workouts and this will do it! My story is very familiar; I have two kids, a wonderful husband, and a great career.....unfortunately, I neglected myself while getting all of that, so it's time to set it right. This will be great!

Live, laugh, love, and make your mark on the world.

Hi all, I'm Laura nearly 60 years old, been around SP for a long time and ready for a Fall challenge. I had a bad time last fall and almost gained everything back. This year I'm determined to make it to January more fit and healthy.

4metowin: I just want to say how inspired I am by your post! I recently spent just two weeks as a single mom -- of one fairly easy toddler, while NOT working - and it was exhausting. I found myself filled with so much respect for single parents. The fact that you are working so much and going to school just astounds me! You will do great with 10 mins per day - it is doable and I applaud you trying to get it done! I also would suggest - if you haven't already considered it (or maybe it's just not feasible) whether having a 'dance party' with your kids might be a way to do your 10 mins AND spend some time with them (since I'm assuming you don't see them much!). Our preschool does this - they turn off all the lights, use a few flashlights and turn on the music. The kids then dance and jump to hop on the lights. It's great fun for them and can really tire you out! I'd guess even 7 or 8 mins would count toward this goal! Good luck - you will do great

Hi, Just joined SP! I like this challenge because it's all about consistency over the long haul. This is my weakness! I am Beth, a 47 yr. old ex roller coaster rider who needs to make some changes to make a healthier life and get back in the front seat. I can be competitive (with others but also with myself) so I am looking into the challenges here as a motivation. I need accountability though. Not sure what department that is located here. HA!

Hi, I'm Miller - 58 yrs. old, married, and the mother of a daughter who's a junior at college. I've been a member of SP for years, but mostly just used the Nutrition Tracker to count calories. For the last few weeks, I've been very active on teams/message boards, etc. and that has given me the motivation to add exercise to my life. Just starting with 10 minutes per day, but for me, that's a lot, since I normally don't exercise at all.

I just love the SP community and all the support and encouragement we can offer to each other!

HI all. I'm not new to Spark People, but new to this challenge. I have not been very active in the community to date, but I am looking for ways to stay accountable. SP has been a great way to track fitness, which was my first step in getting healthy. I am now committed to tracking nutrition, and adding strength training to my routine.

Hi, I'm coming back to SP and plan on making the most out of it this time and keeping myself on track - 35lbs off by end of the year, 5lbs down so far. Hoping this challenge will keep me motivated to get up and walk/run at 5.30am Monday-Friday and do an ab work out!

I'm new here and still a bit newish to SP. I get on random kicks where I go super all-out with exercise and then go into wells of inactivity. The last year has been particularly bad. I'm hoping that doing this small goal will help keep me going whenever I am about to lapse. Exercises I love--biking, swimming, walking. I'm trying to do a bit of strength training, but that's not my fave :-) All in all, this will be part of my journey to lose 45 pounds.

I am new to the team but not SP. I exercise 2 to 3 times a week, and thought by joining this challenge I could get back to 6 days a week at least. I love to Jump rope, so my plan is to get up and do that for 10 mins in the AM, and doing AB workouts every day.

Hi, I'm new to this challenge, but not new to SparkPeople. Starting over again, now that I have 50lbs to lose and don't just need to get into shape. I've gained this weight since having to go gluten free and discovering I have diabetes and hypothyroidism, but I've also discovered I've been overeating, thanks to weight and tracking my food intake, and I've slacked right off with the regular exercise. Excited to be back and making a solid commitment to myself this time!

Hi, everyone. I am a full time student, full time single mom and I am holding three jobs.
I just never find any me time to exercise. I am either going full on with my responsibilities or I am trying to relax after a very hectic day. I guess I have been using that as an excuse for months now, to avoid the truth that I just don't like "exercising".
I do like walking, I like water aerobics, and I like moving to the music (I can't call it dancing because I am so large, I don't dance, I wiggle/jiggle). But, I have never appreciated "structured" exercise.
Now, I am committed to 10 minutes a day for a month and I am going to keep this commitment by joining this challenge. I want and welcome any accountability.
Let's keep moving!

Hello everyone! I joined this challenge hoping it will get me into a routine. I have several exercise equipment in my home, but have the excuse of never having the time to use them. I am determined to get myself going, and stick to it!

Hello everyone. I'm Malachainn, and I joined the team as I find I need serious motivation to do any kind of exercise. I was recently diagnosed with both high cholesterol and hypothyroidism, as well as a number of other unconnected syptoms that my doc and I are working on. So my weight finally brought itself to the forefront of my brain. I have two kids and a wonderful husband who will be on my healthier lifestyle journey with me, but as they don't have the weight to lose, I feel a little lonely on my quest. Thanks for being here.

Hi, I'm Linda and I just joined this Challenge. I need something to get me "sparked" up again as I am falling short on my fitness side of things. I know that when I do make the effort and get out for a walk or hit the bike or the treadmill I tend to do more than the 10 minutes, but some days even 10 will be a great improvement. I do a golf a few days a week and that gets me out for most of the day but I need to get motivated to work out on the other days. I'm looking forward to earning that trophy at the end of 4 weeks!!!!

Hi, I'm Denise.
I am just starting out fresh, now that summer is over and I am back to a "normal" routine. I have been trying to lose the 25 pounds I put back on (after having lost 30). I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and let the steroid treatments and depression take hold of me like nothing else ever has. But I have been symptom free for a year now, and it's time to get back in the saddle. emoticon

Hi...I haven't been on here in awhile but have recently found out that I have mild sleep apnea so I want to do something to get myself healthy. 10 minutes a day challenge is good for me because it is a small number and I can always increase the minutes when I feel that I can continue to exercise. I am usually a quiet person and deal with problems on my own but it hasn't work for me in the past so I am stepping out of my comfort zone. emoticon

I broke my streak yesterday. I decided to take the day off of exercise. I had a very busy, high-exercise weekend, and then I did my normal gym workout on Monday. Tuesday was my last work day before vacation, and I just felt that I needed a day off. My eating stayed in the normal range, and I still parked at the far end of the lot and took the stairs. I just didn't do any focused exercise. I'm feeling more energized today, and my knee is feeling much better. I'm going to go take an AquaFit class today at the gym (instead of my normal treadmill), and I'm going to take another class tomorrow. I figured, I'm on vacation, why not mix things up and take advantage of classes I can't normally attend due to work. It's made me that much more excited to work out. emoticon

Hi Kim - I am also Kim (aka tigtaz325). Welcome to the team! I am new member as well but I have a lot in common with you. I just had 2 partial knee replacements last year & suffer from back issues caused by decades of knee issues. Aiming for 10 minutes of activity a day is really helping me so - usually I end up doing more. I've discovered that now my knees feel better when I am more active, it was never like that before.

Hi all! I'm Kim, aka Meowmama and I've joined the challenge because I am exercise challenged by knee and back pain and congenital laziness. I'd like to gain momentum in my exercising and I like the concept of the short workouts and building consistency. I have hundreds of pounds to lose and have made great strides in improving and controlling my food habits, but I flounder around with the exercise piece.

Hello! I am Connie and I want to lose at least 80 pounds. I am 49 and have just completed my first semester of college. My 2 biggest regrets out of life are that I never got my degree after high school and that I let myself get so heavy. I lost 70 pounds 8 years ago and within a year put most of it back on.
I have always found excuses to not exercise but recently I joined a gym with my daughter and have been going regularly for the last 2 months. I am joining this challenge so that I stay motivated!

You are STRONGER than your excuses!

HI! I am Gayle. 72 years old, 70 pounds overweight, and extremely sedentary. Walk to the car. Sit in the car. Walk in to work. Sit at work. Walk to the cafeteria. Sit and eat. Walk to my desk. Sit and work. Walk to my car. Sit in my car. Walk into the house. Sit at the computer!
Several days after work, walk around the store.
Weekends...sit at the computer, do laundry, sit at the computer, wash dishes, sit at the computer, cook a meal.
Booooooring!
Okay, I am here to start a minimal streak of 10 minutes of exercise. It won't be walking, or the gym, or anything vigorous. But it will be sooo much more than I have been doing.
I will be doing Oxycise! or Sweatin to the Oldies.
This is my challenge.
Amen.

I am joining here to make myself exercise at least 10 minutes on Sunday which is normally a day of just sitting other than walking between buildings at church. I am 61 and trying to re-lose 50 lbs that I gained after the arthritis struck my knees and I had 2 replacements. It's been really hard since I had lost 130 lbs so I would be healthy enough to enjoy my then impending granchildren. They are now 12 and 9 and were 2 and 5 when I had the replacements done so that's how long it has taken me to really get in gear. Hoping this challenge and the sparkcoach team help me get back to my low. I am married and my husband is diabetic with sleep apnea so maybe with just 10 min. he would try working with me.

Hi! I'm looking forward to developing a NEW attitude towards working out. I started SparkLing in July, and lost 26 pounds quickly by walking, cutting out ALL the fat, and of course, tracking everything/educating myself about fitness.

My Dr. suggested I eat no more than 1200 a day, and while I thought that sounded odd, I did what she said. Hmmmmmm... Then one day I received a message in RED on my fitness tracker, saying that if I didn't stop working out so much and eating so little, I would NOT lose weight!! WHAT? I freaked out a little bit. I'd already committed so much, I was discouraged to have been doing it wrong. So, I decided to start over. emoticon

I joined the new Spark Coach program, and am trying to re-learn what I know about fitness. I'm not devastated at not having lost a single pound in three weeks, but I will be devastated if I haven't met my goal in June 2013!

So, here we go! emoticon

Hi everyone! I joined this challenge to help me get motivated to work out on the weekends. I walk every weekday on my lunch hour from work. Our local hospital has a really nice walking track around a pound and I can usually fit in a two mile walk, but the weekend is a totally different story. I have a 1 yr old and a 4 yr old who make it hard to find time, but I've got to find a way!!! emoticon

Hello everyone. I live in beautiful Vancouver, BC, where exercising should be easy - but I'm a coach potatoe at heart, so I joined this group to remind myself that 10 minutes is totally doable, and that once I do 10 minutes, I usually feel great and do more!

Hello, my name is Jeannie. I am 63 years old and I am trying to get back into the swing again.

I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis about two months ago. I have been on a pain roller coaster since last October. Finally now, with the aid of medications, I feel like the roller coaster is slowing down and I can start to get back going again. When the pain got too bad to manage I was walking close to 5 miles a day.

I am not trying to make excuses, I just want to put it in writing why I am starting with just 10 minutes of Yoga. Yoga is to get the joints a little limber so I can walk without much pain. On days when I can I will be walking about a mile with my two little dogs. The walk will be an added benefit. The Yoga is the actual goal.

To keep spiritually fit, consult the Great Physician.

Hi All!
I am a 30 yr old, living in TN.
I like to craft, read, hike, shop (especially for handbags and craft supplies, lol) and spend time with family.
I am here to lose weight, but the real goal isn't a magic number on the scale. It's feeling like/being a healthier me.
I started SP earlier in Aug!
