Hi All! I am a 57 year old woman (who insists I am really 39) employed full-time and also do PT work as well. I thrive on stress, always have. The biggest stresser right now is trying to put my 30 yr old son through Nursing (RN) school without making any debt. So I try to save each semester's cost and stay sahead one semester.

Hey I'm Erin. New to the team but not to Spark. I think stress is one of the main contributing factors which hinder my attempts to lose weight and stay healthy. My job is not super stressful, nor is my personal life, but if there are little things, I guess I don't know how to deal with them effectively. I'm looking for ways in which I can deal with stress. Excited about the challenge.

Hello!! I joined this team because I have always let stress get to me. I had a psychologist call me a sponge once because I can observe all sorts of stress and let it build before it gets squeezed out of me. Pretty much I would probably eat healthy, workout more, and lose weight if I could practice better destressing methods so I am out to give this group a try!

Hey all! My name is Suzi. I joined this team at a point in my life when I am stressed out to the max. After 17 years, I'm ending my career and starting a new job. It's an exciting time...but the people I've worked with for 17 years are being extremely crappy about me leaving and it's tearing me up. I believe that my set-backs and plateaus with my weight loss are directly linked to my stress level. That is a huge part of why I'm leaving my high stress job.
Good luck to all of us on this challenge! I hope to learn to breathe easier and let go of some of this stress!

Hi I'm Erin. I've been here a little over a month and am experiencing some set backs but overall it is a positive experience. I need this team because I work with a bunch of 3 yr olds and it can get kind of stressful. Also, my lack of progress is stressing me out!

Hi, my name is Debra. I've been on Spark since March, have lost 25 pounds, and finally became pregnant. I've had a lot of stress as I've been trying to get pregnant and trying to find a job. Now I've added going back to school into the mix. I have found a job, but I'm worried about whether or not it will fall through once they find out I'm pregnant. I don't deal with stress very well. I used to stress eat all the time. I'm trying to learn to deal with stress differently, but I can definitely use help!

Hi,
I seen this challenge and thought it might help me deal with the stressors in my life. I am almost busy every night of the week with committments, I am a full time student online as well as working full time and I am getting married next may so now I have added wedding planning to my plate. I am trying to refocus and figure out what I need to be doing and reevaluate my priorities.

Hi Y'all: I know from personal experience that stress and weight gain goes hand-in-hand. Stress also has a lot to do with not being able to bust through a plateau. I do not really emotionally eat any longer, but I am still having a hard time dealing with stress at times. So I am hoping this challenge will help me find new tools for stress reduction.

Thank you and I hope to get to know everyone better.

Hi all! Work has got me so stressed lately it's starting to effect my health, so when I saw this challenge, I thought it would be a great way to really focus on some better techniques for dealing with it (other than eating!) so I don't feel so ready to crash and burn all the time. I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes!

Hi all, my name is Toni and hopefully with this challenge I'll learn how to finally beat stress! I'm a married, 35-year old mother of 2 boys, ages 8 and 12 (soon to be 13). I really shouldn't be as stressed as I am, my life is pretty good compared to others. However, I've struggled with stress and depression my entire life. I'm looking forward to learning some tips and techniques to help me on my journey. Nice to meet all of you!

Hi, all!

I know some of you from other teams, and I am glad to join you all here! As a wife, mother to three special needs children, full time doctoral student and someone who works full time, saying that I am stressed is a gross understatement. And I can see the negative impact stress has had on my health. I am hoping this team will help me remember how to handle stress in a healthy way!

Hi, I am 66 years old. I have type II diabetes, osteoarthritis which affects my knees, and a bad back...I also have venous insufficiency which means that I have got to lose weight....as well as keep my legs and feet elevated several times a day...Add to that HBP, even though it is controlled with medication... and you've got a recipe for stress...
On top of that, my husband just recently had to have two stents replaced because his body rejected the first ones which were done in January,.. it was already closed up due to the scar tissue buildup..

then there is my son, who suffers from Chronic Major depression....who recently had a crisis...

plus our niece who lives with us....and is an alcoholic...sometimes she is an angel but other times....gives us fits and worries my son to death because he worries that something will happen to her..

ohhh, yeah, I need help on dealing with stress.... emoticon

I'm introducing myself to you :-)

I'm a 35 year old mother of 2 girls - ages 4 and 8. I also run an in-home daycare.

Stress: My 4 year old has some issues we are trying to get her help for. She has severe stuttering, sensory issues, what appears to be ADHD, and a comprehension issue. (we've been running from Dr. to Dr. and fighting with the insurance.) Stress from this is RAMPANT - trying to learn new ways to parent her with the at home treatments, paying out of pocket to a SLP for her to get treatment since the Insurance denied her services for stuttering.

My income is 1/2 what it should be, which means I can only afford to pay 1/2 our mortgage. The stress is causing a financial strain on our family, which is causing a strain on my marriage.

My sister is supossed to be in recovery from drugs and alcohol but seems to think she can drink now and is making all kinds of bad choices, and she has 2 children, 2nd and 5th graders.

My dad has stage 3 melanoma and is undergoing chemo.

My relationship with my mom is strained.

I don't get to date my husband, we can never find a sitter.

And I'm trying to lose 20 pounds.

Hi everyone! I'm Sarah, and would LOVE to beat some stress! I can't really complain, I have great kids (although they do add stress) and a wonderful SO, who is very supportive. Lately I have found myself very stressed out at work though, so any ways to alleviate stress is greatly welcomed!

Hello All. I'm hoping to learn ways to cut my stress level by joining this challenge. I'm a single mother of a college kid who lives at home and have recently been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. This recent event has led me to the decision that I really need to get my act together and become proactive with my health.

Hi.

I'm Karry. I 'm here after an eating bing made me realize I am under more stress than I wanted to admit to myself. I took my stress test, which actually said I was fairing pretty well--- but I know I need to do better. I am currently doing my stress journal. I think most of my stress if having to deal with certain people.

Hi, I'm Noelle

I'm 34, a stay-home-mom to a teen and pre-teen boy (14 & 12). My hubby's job changed last fall from being home almost every evening for supper and now works away most weeks from Monday to Friday. I am having a hard time coping with parenting alone and dealing with being alone in the evenings and feeling connected with my hubby.

I really need this challenge so I can learn to deal with my stress.

Hi I'm Maria,

I have a beautiful family and 2 very special kids, while they are the source of my greatest love they also help cause my greatest stress.

My kids are age 7yrs and 3yrs and both demand alot of attention. Add to that the fact that my darling Hubby works nights and it is hard for him to help out. Most times when he's home he is trying to get some sleep.

Any-who, I love my Fam. but need some ME time desperately.

Hi my name is Delaine. I am in a period of high stress because I am moving to Hungary for 6 months. I did this 2 years ago and bit through a night guard so I figured I just start stress reduction right from the beginning.
I find it hard to take time for exercise and errands when things are very up in the air. Today I jogged a mile for the first time in a month. I am happy to be breaking the breaking of my workout habit.

It doesn't matter if you believe you can or you can't, you're right.

Hi! My name is Cindy. I am very stressed most days. I work crazy hours at a "home-based" job; sometimes I am up all night and other times I work early mornings. I have a son with Aspergers and tic-disorder. That also puts stress on me although I love him to death. I eat when I am stressed which is why I would love to face this "Stress" challenge.

Hello, my name is Andrea. I have more stress than I usually have going on right now b/c I'm in the middle of packing moving. I have to be out of my apt by 6/27 & we haven't closed on the house yet!

I just basically want to learn techniques that work for me with dealing with stress. Both the big life stressors and the "daily hassles." I would also like to learn how to deal with my job stress better. I am a customer service representative for a water company.

Thanks
Andrea

Hello, my name is Alicia and I am looking forward to learning how to deal with the stress in my life. When I get stressed out I let it consume me and all I want to do is eat or sleep. In the next 4 weeks I'm hoping to learn other techniques to deal with the stress.

Hello, My name is April. I just discovered this Team after coming back to SP after taking a week off. My stress level is the highest its ever been! My son, his wife and their two little daughters...ages 4 months and 23 months...were in a bad, one car roll-over accident in the early hours on Memorial Day. The babies are fine! Just some marks on their shoulders from their carseat straps. My daughter-in-law, who had fallen asleep at the wheel, is fine...at first they thought her shoulder was broken, but it's ok. My son's femur is broken in 2 places, he has 3 cracked ribs and a broken nose. He'll be unable to work for 3 months while he recuperates, and they might lose their house because they can't pay the rent. So, they may have to move in with us at the end of the month. On top of that, my 84 yr old dad who's been living with us for a yr now because he was diagnosed with early dementia, has been having some health problems. Nothing major, though. But, I have to take him back and forth to the doctor, which is hard to do right now because I'm taking care of my son's precious babies as well as my oldest daughter's son and daughter who I babysit every day. So, STRESS is high for me!
I'm hoping that I'll be able to lessen the stress by joining this Team!

I joined this challenge b/c stress is impeding me from losing weigh. I need to let it go, but not a 100% sure of where to start.

Hoping to find as much suggestions and support as I'm willing to give.

Howdy! My name is Sonja, and I've decided to join this challenge because typically when I go off course w/ my eating, it's because of "stress-eating"! So, I'm hoping by learning how to deal w/ or even eliminate the stress in my life, maybe I'll be able to stay on track w/ my eating plan a little better. I've been remarried for 6 years, and have 1 son (almost 21) and 3 stepsons (25, 21 & 19)... the 3 younger ones are in college, and the oldest one is engaged! I am an RN and work as a charge nurse on the night shift, as well as participating on several committees at work which take a toll on my free time. In addition to all of this, I lost my mom to cancer a couple years ago, so as an only child, I am very involved w/ my dad's life (esp. healthcare). I tend to take on the "caregiver" role quite often in regards to friends, family, co-workers, etc. (guess that's the nurse in me)... so that tends to add to my stress level! So... I defintely think I'm in need of this challenge!!!!!

I am a licensed home childcare provider and take care of 4 - 6 children 5 days a week from 7am to 6pm. I am so thankful i found SparkPeople.com. Hello everyone!

I noticed my weight "shifting" to my waist about a year ago and that prompted me to begin a journey of discovery as I knew stress put it there. But what was I stressed about, I thought? I have a great marriage, good income, great place to live and many loving friends..........hmmm. From reading "When the Body Says No The Cost of Hidden Stress" by Dr. Gabor Mate, working with a Chiropractor and a Reiki Master I have put the pieces of the puzzle together. The glue to all of this is SparkPeople! My stress is historical from traumatic events that happened almost thirty years ago when I was virtually alone. Somehow I managed to get through it all. Thanks to Sparkpeople, I understand the power of reaching out, even to a community I have never personally met. That is very new to me, but already in less than a week, the impact on my well-being has been huge!

Hi, my name is Martha and I joined this challenge to learn how to bust the Stress in my life. I suffer from several auto-immune diseases and stress brings on a flare-up and it takes time for me to bounce back.

I am working on writing a journal more about my feelings and my food choices.
