Hello, I'm Terri, I turned 40 this year, I work 2 jobs...one as a school bus driver the other as a pharmacy technician...both can be extremely stressful....I also have a household to maintain along with a hubby and a 12 yr old son....finances are pretty tight, pretty much stay on the on between jobs and housework...holidays are approaching and have already become irritated by my family so just doing our own thing this year to avoid the stress and complications of playing nice nice any ways....I'm open to any thing that can help me learn to manage my stress load or even eliminate it entirely...

Hi I'm Rebecca, I am 56 years old, work full time and fully admit that I am very bad at saying "no" so I create a lot of my own stress.

Work is my main source of stress since have 35 direct reports and serve on the management team.

I am fortunate to have a strong support network, a very loving hubby and people here at SP who motivate me.

My biggest challenge right now is to get through the next 2 very stressful weeks at work and to not lose sight of my fitness goals in the process. I have never been a consistent exerciser but since joining SP in March I have rarely missed a day. Unfortunately this is the time of year that my desire and motivation to exercise leave me. The cold, dark days make me want to run home after work and hibernate, so I am looking for extra support to stay the course, because over the past few months one thing that I have really noticed is how good consistent
exercise is for relieving stress.

I also know from past experience that getting caught up in the holiday hoopla can throw me off my regular commitments. I want to break that cycle now and go into the new year lighter and stronger than I am now.

Hi All -- I'm AMarie. 52 years old. Single mom of a just-turned-18 year old son, sole caretaker of an 85 year old mom and an 88 year old dad. (My 67 year old brother is recovering from lung cancer.) Oh, and I work full-time at a job 15 miles away. The current main stress is that my dad just got out of a 13 day stay in the hospital. He went in for gallbladder pain and ended up with 3 stents in his widow maker artery. (blockages repaired of 60, 70, and 90%. He's now in transitional care for 3 weeks.) His health predicament is motivating ME. I tend to be a mindless stress eater, and also really have to mentally challenge myself when I feel the anxiety coming on. I've been on SP since May, but participation becomes sporadic sometimes due to home & work. I am planning to make November different. Oh, and this is my very first SP challenge.

My name is Jeanne, I'm 53, a wife, mother of 3 and grandma of 7. My oldest grandson has autism and has lived with me and my husband his whole life. I joined the challenge because I already have lots of stress and knew changing my lifestyle would cause more stress. I'm trying to get ahead of it so I have strategies in place when I'm feeling vulnerable.

Your soul is rooting for you.

Hi, I'm Suby. I'm a teacher - that pretty much says it all regarding stress levels. I love my job, but there are a lot of challenges, so I get positive as well as negative stress.

Time and years finally caught up to me. I first joined Spark in 2010 so that I could loose enough weight to donate a kidney to my 23yo son. Worked and dropped 0ver 40 pounds which I have found. I am a stress eater so the loss of both parents and the loss of my job got me to the point where I felt nsusious with a slight headache all the time. Took my BP one afternoon and it was 149/110. What a wake up call. If I dont get the whole package under control I wont get to be a Granddad. Not an option.

Hi I struggle with my stress levels, I tend to get quite stressed quite quickly! I have four children the eldest being 10 and three of them being boys all close in age and all extremely hyperactive! I find I don't get any time to myself and my house is constantly chaotic and messy. Don't get me wrong I love my children dearly but it would be nice to get a bit of me time. When the house is a mess I find it really increases my stress levels and my hubbie is useless around the house so I have to do it all.

I don't get much sleep which I think also doesn't help

I have just found out I have really high blood pressure which frightens me and I know stress can contribute to hypertension so it would be great to reduce my stress to help with this

It would be great to learn a few techniques to help me chill out abit emoticon

I'm Jessica. I am a teacher. As if that doesn't say it all right there. I am a grad student. Again, as if that doesn't say it all right there. I am a wife. Again.... I basically just need to control my stress and really myself. I am easily derailed. I never take time for myself. I think about everyone and put everyone above me. I am in need of this challenge greatly. emoticon

Yikes, I just got here and I think I'm too stressed to add another obligation to my To Do list. I'm on Azure, a support team for the BLC23, and work and go to school and.... Going to leave the team and join later.

Hi, I'm Kat. I'm 22 and trying desperately to recover from stage three adrenal burnout. I have had WAY too much stress over the course of several years, and that has basically totaled my body's ability to produce hormones like normal. Which is super important, as I have found out. I am definitely looking for better ways to manage my stress!

I have only been an active member of Spark People for about a month, i am finding it an excellent help for maintaining my motivation. People are always so encouraging and responsive to posts and Blogs, it really makes you feel welcome and encouraged.

I have had a problem with High Blood Pressure for several years, my doctor has deemed that although i am very overweight the blood pressure issues are based more on an inability to deal affectively with stress. I work in a job environment where a lack of effective sleep builds up over several weeks often culminating in bursts of inappropriate anger. And then i have several weeks off during which i find it hard to relax as i often have work related things to do like taking exams to further my career. I find it hard to leave work behind when i go home.

At work i often have nightmares, and at home when the time to return to work is getting closer i sometimes have nightmares, or insomnia. Currently i have few hobbies or social events that i regularly attend. I am starting to make changes to all of that, but it is a long process.

Work Associates have indicated that this trip i have been calmer and more rational than usual. Most likely due to the fact that i have been sticking to a Fitness Schedule of 2 days on 1 off for the past 4 weeks, it has already made a noticable difference in my attitude.

Do or Do Not. There is no Try.

I'm not new to Spark People. I finally reached my goal weight and thought I was really healthy. I exercised every day. This year I found out I had a heart attack sometime back. I have a totally blocked main arteries on my heart. I ended up in the hospital with Pneumonia and my blood pressure is very high. I am on a lot of meds for blood pressure and it is not helping. I have asthma and COPD. I can't exercise like I used too. I can feel the stress building every day. I feel like my family does not understand how I feel even tho I tell them. I need to learn how to handle my stress for my health. I hope this Challenge can help me learn to relax.

A couple of years ago, with a lot of help from SP, I lost about 60 pounds and got really healthy. After starting back to full-time work, plus continuing to work my part-time job, I gradually fell further and further off the wagon. Now I've gained all the weight back, plus a not-so-lucky seven pounds.

I am under an incredible amount of stress and hope to deal with it by getting healthy again and also by focusing on stress reduction methods like deep breathing, meditation, and other ways that I hope to discover by visiting here. I´ve also been toying with the idea of taking a Tai Chi class. Has anyone else here tried Tai Chi? Did you like it?

Hi. I'm not new to Spark People but I'm starting over (again). Just found out I have the vascular age of a 71 year old (almost 20 years older than my chronological age) and I'm pretty stressed about it.

I have been noticing that I've been carrying a lot of stress physically while trying to just push it out of my mind and not deal with it.

Today I walked the dog for the first time in months and months. Definitely need to de-stress!

HI this is week #1, Day #1. I have been on and off SP for at least a couple of years. I have been pretty passive up to this point. but am growing tired of how i look and feel. I saw this team and said"what the heck", Ive tried almost everything else so here i am. A big hurdle for me is to try to access SP. I have limited use on computer at public library, and use my cell when I'm around strong enough WIFI. I look forward to any and all advice and interacting with this team.

Staying in the present, taking one day at a time with moving one foot in front of the other.

I am a stress magnet. I attract it and can't let it go. I HAVE TO learn to let it go. I don't want to shorten my life because of the stress I allow into my life. I'm hoping this challenge will push me to identify and manage stressors.

I just broke the 50 yo barrier, a single mom, busy stressful job, a combative ex, tight finances and a crazy family. I really deserve my own reality show.

Hello all! I'm not new to spark but have been inactive for quite sometime. I'm in need of strategies to deal with and decrease the stress I experience. In the past, I have not posted much on the message boards so I am hoping that by participating the team will offer great support for me and . . . That I may be supportive to others. emoticon

Hi there! I'm new to the challenge. I've only just started today but I already know that I want to keep my stress levels in check for many different health reasons: age, weight gain, and after some hard and painful years and surgery...I'm soon going to try to get pregnant!

To keep stress at bay my goals are eating cleaner and including more fruits and veggies and starting my day with exercise. I want to start with stretching and yoga then move into light cardio and strength training since I'm nursing a sensitive knee.

Good luck to us all!

Hello, Maggie from Massachusetts here on the eve of my 50th birthday wondering how it is that the last year's goal of losing 30 lbs by 9/29/13 didn't happen. Stubbornness, mostly. I keep thinking that I can make changes all by myself. But, truly I need help in maintaining motivation and getting back on track after dietary indiscretions.

Since I eat when stressed and I'm stressed a lot, I decided to join this team as the second step to helping myself get healthy. (The first step was ordering the new Spark step-counter-thingy which should arrive in my mailbox today!)

Hello. My name is Theresa and I just joined the team today. I have a lot of stress in my life!

I have a few ways to help relieve stress - including hypnosis. However, I'd like to find a way to eliminate some of the stress in my life. I'm not sure where to start with most of the problems and I hope to find out here.

I am new to SparkPeople. My name is Trisha and I'm here to help myself get healthier. Not just losing weight but reducing my stress, reducing my blood pressure, and getting more fit. I use to be able to t handle stress much better when I was more active. As I have gotten older and more, well to be honest, lazy I have felt the evil side affects of stress creep into my life and its time I did something about all of it.

Hi all! I'm not new to sparkpeople but I haven't been very active the past couple years. I've lost and gained weight while away from Spark and would like to get back on the wagon so I can lose more and most importantly, keep it off. I really think a big hurdle for me is stress. I deal with moderate anxiety when I'm busy and overwhelmed and I'm a huge emotional eater. I've taught myself some coping techniques but hope this team will give more support. Being stressed gives me a negative mentality so I hope to turn that around!

Hi,
I am new to this team and challenge. I have been using Spark People for some time, but just recently decided to participate in a few of the challenges. Recently I completed the sleep challenge. I followed the steps, read the articles, and made lifestyle changes. I have had some success with it, but recently I went back to work after a long summer break. My whole work environment changed with additional staff members and double the number of students with severe disabilities. I came to this challenge to find ways to manage my stress. I was going to set up an appointment with my doctor at the clinic, but thought I should try a few things before I go knocking on his door. I am looking forward to completing this challenge and hope I have some success. Happy Saturday to all!

Just Believe!

Hi. I'm absolutely delighted to have found this challenge. Years ago dh said that I am the most stressed-out person he'd ever met; I believe it - I'm a very stressed individual. 47 years an equal number-plus of pounds, and all the symptoms later, my life has reached the point where I CAN work on fixing me. I'm looking forward to completing this Challenge (last year I would have added "right now"! 8-)
