Hi everyone! I am not new to SP but I haven't done much with the account. Now I've decided that its something I really want. I'm tired of hating myself and my increasing depression is starting to effect my relationship. I know from my weight tracker it does not seem like a weigh alot. But I'm really short so the extra 20 lbs looks and feels like alot. I am in need of a buddy to keep me motivated, while my future husband thinks I still look fabulous, he still wants me to look and be happy, but is in the military so he is there for me as much as he can be. I'm always looking for pointers on curbing the Emotional Eating (I'm pretty sure that's how I gained most of my weight.)

Hey all, I've been on here for awhile but just recently started really being active again. I'm 24, bout 175lbs, a big emotionaly eater...it runs in the family. I'm looking for some buddies to keep me motivated and share tips etc with. I'm trying to lose atleast 25lbs by the end of october that's my goal :)

Hi all! Hope everyone is having a good week so far. I'm a 23 year old high school teacher who recently married and am an emotional eater. Sometimes I don't feel like I can talk/relate to my husband about my weight issues and what I go through emotionally (he is stick think BTW) and am really looking for some buddies to help keep me motivated, honest, and talk about emotional issues with on occasion.

hi, just checking in, seem to be doing somewhat better with night and emotional eating, tonight i am verry tired afterwork, and the last thing i want to do is cook dinner for dh and me, I usually do that but decided it is ok, to have something light, so am opting for soup and 1/2 sandwich,,,,,

brushing my teeth after eating, and then recordingfoods helps me,

if i get really exhausted ,( i work in mental health field) then i dont care what i eat, and do it without a thought in the world!!!!

i am far from perfect but making changes every day,

Hello there and good luck to you. I also am new to Spark but I do love it, and it has kept me on track. I still get tired of eating the same foods, and still crave birthday cake. But I am losing, started my journey at 236.75 and now weigh 230.1/4 in one month. Of course I did add exercise and a personal trainer for 3 months to get me on the right track. Keep up the good work, we will succeed.

I am still relatively new to SP. I joined about 3 weeks ago and I am still finding my way along this site.
Anyway, I am 46 years old (will be 47 on thursday) and I have one child who is 27 now. I am single, living near Phila, Pa.

I am seriously an emotional eater. However, I am just discovering that if I track every single morsel of food, I am less likely to "cheat". It can be difficult at first, but I need results. Lets be buddies.

..I have always had a hard time with EE and there have been many times when I felt as if there was little hope for me in ever changing. But i'm finally coming out of that "dark spot" and seeing that YES! I can change my habits! I can find new activities...etc. I'm ready to put the midnight cookies down and shed those 30lbs!

I can really relate to the night time eating it is so easy to do.. what has worked for me is that after dinner I just dont eat.. if I feel I need a snack I write it down before I eat it .. there are many night I do not have a snack. .. what I do to keep busy is I am on This web site for about 1/2 hour facebook, read emails, and then off to bed.. cuz I am so tired. but I think the main thing for me is the food tracker on SP. once I have tracked all my food and see were my calories are for the day I am less to want to snack..
any ways welcome to the group.. good luck and glad to have you here..

Hey y'all! I just joined the team. I have the same problem about eating at night. I get bored, I eat. If I see my husband eating something, I eat (whether I'm hungry or not). If I'm stressed, I eat. The only emotion that doesn't seem to make me eat is sadness. If I'm sad, I'm much more prone to not eat at all. (maybe I should be sad more often?lol)

Hi,
I just joined tonight. I have the exact same problem. I do great all day with controlling and keeping track of food/calories but when evening comes I lose control to sweets. Then I hate myself for messing up a whole day of hard work. I just don't know what to do.

Happy Sunday to everyone, i am back again, !!! day 3 for me, recording all my foods, eating much less carbos, and not eating at night, I joined TOPS lastweek, which is a support group, and they suggested that we write everything down, everyone take care, and lets support everyone by just checking in, it really helps to know i am not alone,

things i did at night instead of binging, watching a movie, that was very funny, polished my nails, tonight i will knit,!!!!!

Hello. I am a 23 year old Student. I eat whenever I feel down. But my major problem is binging at nights. I have a sweet craving at nights. And I end up eating around 3 big slices of cake or the equivalent every night. I don't know how to stop my addiction to sweets. Also, my cravings are mostly at nights.
I hope to find some buddy who is also having a problem of binging on sweet food.

Hello, My name is Cindy, and I am new to this team but have been with Sparkpeople for over two years. I restarted my program today and can relate to the issues brought up on this team: work stress, relationship issues, caretaker issues, etc. My emotional eating is mostly done at night after work (I work the second shift). I am trying hard not to eat at night.

Since many of you have the same issues hopefully I can find some buddies.

Hi, I'm Jody, and I am almost 40....I'm still getting used to saying that!!! I live in So. WI. I'm married with 2 kids and 2 dogs. I've gained weight in the past 6 mos. or so after a sad situation in my life. Hence...emotional eating!!! emoticon
I'd like to find a buddy who knows what its like to deal with emotional eating, is around my age, and possibly lives around my area. Anyone who has experienced a loss of child/miscarriage would be helpful as well.

hi , it is nice to be here, I am also looking for support , I love to eat bread, and crackers , when i get sressed, the other day i ate 6 thinly sliced bagels,(half the calories) I just joined TOPS for support, as it is pretty low cost,

weekends are the worst time for me, as I think it is party time on fridays, my husband always makes a great healthy fish meal, and then afterwards i eat chips left over from the coating on the healthy fish, which then leads to cookies, then saturday and sunday, i have gained alot of weight, and know this is not the answer, emotional eating,

I'm Corinne and I am an emotional eater. Never knew what it was the drove me to eat. But now you know the truth. I am looking for a buddy who can help me grow (or shrink in this case). I need to lose this weight for a longer and healthier life. As soon as I stop spark I gain it ALL back so i guess I just need encouragment to keep going

Hi everyone,
I am not new to SP but new to this group. I am re-starting. I lost 40 lbs last year when I joined and slowly got off track and went into a downward spiral. I have gained half the weight back and need to get back on track. The emotional part is what I really need to figure out. I would love to have a buddy for support!

I'm new to this SparkTeam, and still a beginning with SparkPeople, too. My name is Hannah. I think I've always been an emotional eater. What's more is that I was never too specific about which emotion triggered me - happiness, sadness, anger, boredom... it all worked. I've been feeling really good lately and haven't felt the urge to binge, but I think I need to keep in mind exactly what my patterns are to try and prevent a resurgence of that tendency in me. Hey I am new here trying t figure all this out! i have recently come to realze I am an emtion eater, you see I was n the food indusrty for 35 years anfood was always passion, plus I was raised with a (southern mama) if youknow what I mean!I have recently ot out of that business was in from the age 15 t 51 then I nt back to school for Phlebotomy plus I useto smoke 2 packs of cigerettes for over 35 years and I (QUIT) 1 year n 6 months well... I put down the cigs and picked up the (FORK) i find myself eating evertime I ould want a cigerette!! which is about eer 15minutes OMG!! I notice I also eat when I am nt even hungry;out of habit,I also eat when I am bored, ticked off, sad,mad,glad, get my point? lol I have recently/joineda christian 12 step proram for: FOOD ADDICTS,i GUESS THATS WHAT i AM!! OK i SAID IT!! SURE COULD USE SOME BUDDYS !! THANKS

well here it goes...Hi my name's Lynn and I'm a stress eater.

I think a lot of people can relate to this, everyone has a bad day once in awhile. Swimmin' in a land of cake will make it better. BUT it's not healthy! And that's exactly why I'm here. I don't want to blame stress eating for all my weight problems but it's a major contributor. I hope in the future I get to save people from drowning in cake and I hope I get the same in return =D

Hi, My names Molli. Iv been on spark for over a month i think but i didn't start doing anything with it till Tuesday. I eat when I'm stressed.. or board.. or anxious.. and i cant say iv stopped doing that yet. But I have been working out more, which means i haven't had those feelings as often (like constantly) haha and.. i don't keep ANY junk in the house which means even though for the past few days all i have wanted to put in my mouth are m&m's and cheese its.. i end up eating boiled eggs and cheese sticks.
I'm very excited to start seeing results but in the meantime.. I;m enjoying finally taking my life and making it about me and only me.

Hi! I'm new, just joined last week. I'm fat and a big stress/emotional eater! My weaknesses are a box of Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookies and Dove Milk Chocolate Almonds, yeah, the whole package. Today is my second day of having a SP. Over the weekend I had to put down my dog that I've had for over 12 years, got severe dehydration and almost passed out twice, and came into contact with Poison Oak/Ivy/Sumac somehow and it's spread all up and down my arms...... if ever there was a time to eat my emotions, it would be now! But I have been doing well and just try to keep busy and not order Chinese takeout, my go-to emotional eating meal. Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

Like you, I started a SP a few months ago and really was keeping up with it pretty well. I got off track for a while but have done better the last couple of weeks. Reading the articles on this site has helped alot. Congratulations on not gaining back the weight you have lost. You are already ahead of the game from when you started in March.

I don't know what a few weeks indicate, but your weight tracker is moving in the right direction. If it is any encouragement, I started SP in March and have been up and down. I was very committed for 3weeks, got off track and restarted. I have just restarted again. Luckily I have not gained back the weight I lost. Stay encouraged and a pound less is getting you closer to your goal.

Hi Vailgirl,

I completely understand your EE. I have a friend who gets stressed, overworked, etc. and FORGETS to eat! I have NEVER forgotten to eat. As a matter of fact, under similiar situations I prefer to hang out with my 2 best friends - Ben & Jerry!

I was on Fenfluoramine until they pulled it off the market and I was doing very well until then (down ~68#) but I gained most that back and had 2 children and gained 52 with the first and 48 with the second (he justed turned 9 so that "I haven't lost the pregnancy weight yet" excuse doesn't work anymore).

I lost 6 pounds during my first week here, but ate 3 days worth of calories today, oh well, I will try to just mark it off to a bad day and start again tomorrow instead of continuing in this behavior as I tend to do.

Looking forward to working with you and the other members of this group to finally get to where I should be and stay there this time!

Hi,
I have recently realized emotional eating is what keeps me from losing the weight and staying on the routine and healthy eating kick. Here's how the cycle goes Day one I do great Day two is ok, by Day three I've had an emotional crisis and then I'm more mad at myself for overeating and then I fall of the bandwagon completely! Any tips to keep this from happening would be great. I'm not happy with my body and my habits but I'm having a hard time changing it.

Hi everyone! I am new to Sparkpeople after being introduced to it by my skinny sister haha. I was on weight watchers for a year or so and I ended up gaining all of my weight back and it started to get to be too much work. I did really well but then my emotional eating took over with a cat's death and a bad friendship that was sort of a relationship and then the holidays came. So I am feeling unhealthy and need to get back to kicking some behind and getting myself in gear. I know my one saving grace from WW was the message boards so I am just trying to find one that fits for me:) I will take any advice anyone has about anything because I definitely need advice on how to NOT give into to candy temptations and how to eat when your boyfriend is not on a diet. Thats my starting points. Thanks for listening and I hope we can all talk on a regular basis.

I have read everyone's posts here. I too desire a buddy to help me be accountable in a tough/kind way. I am as wide as I am tall (in my eyes) I am embarrassed about how I look. I have 78 lbs. to lose. I have all the head knowledge, I eat for comfort, I have to really force myself to do any kind of physical activity. Too easy to think about it and that's good enough. I am 57 years old. If anyone wants to join me in being an accountiblity buddy please let me know. I am here and wanting to get back to eating healthy. I enjoy SparkPeople.

okay, here i am at day two and feeling good. i did very well today with my eating, even passed on a free lunch of fried chicken!! dinner was grilled fish, steamed broccoli, and couscous. i was still feeling like i was hungry so i had an apple and it was just what i needed!!! no need for the cakes and cookies, apples are just as sweet and better for your teeth! :)

Day two...whew I do feel like the little engine that could...daughter made pizza tonight, I passed on it and had my grilled chicken ;)...instead of chocolate candy, had watermelon, raspberries and blueberries, yummy!!

Good Monday to everyone, hope you off to a good start of a new week. I have my first weigh-in this thursday and find myself getting anxious. But I won't peek, I just feel so much better with my healthy eating and being accountable to ME!
I am feeling much more in control journaling and being here, its truly amazing.
I wish you all this same excitement I am feeling and boost of confidence. We can do this! Yes, we can! Instead of being an emotional eater, I want to be Emotional about LIFE! Are ya with me?

okay, so this is my first post. i need help, i eat way too much at night with no idea why. i tell myself that i should stop, but i can't/don't. i have a problem with emotional eating and have had this problem for a while, not really sure when it started, but it needs to stop now.

First day back on SP...feels good not to overstuff!! Had grilled Hoki,brown rice, and skewered veggies!! Yeah, and drank water with my dinner...yesterday for dinner hamburger with fries, wow what a day makes..Bronxnancy, I hear you, I LOVE CARBS:( I just either have to switch to complex carbs or get better snacks

hi , my second post this week, it sounds like we all would gain from supporting each other, for me, it is not the main meals that get me into hot water, it is the night eating, after dinner, and in the middle of the night, go figure, i really need to identify solutions as i am always grabbing carbs, instead of alternative snackes, help!!!!

I am looking for a buddy who shares similar thoughts and ideals towards weight loss. Currently, I am trying just to be good to myself, stay away from sugar, get at least 3 days of exercise in a week, and the biggie: NOT BINGE AT NIGHT!! I need to be accountable to someone who can call me on my behavior good, bad and ugly, and someone that I too, can help, motivate or inspire on their goals. Please let me know if you are out there. I am new to this site. and so for I am enjoying it. it has help me with some of my emotional eating and bad portion control habit . I also am looking for a friend I can share ideas, receipts, and motivations with. I also live in sunny florida. emoticon

Hi everyone, I too am new to SP and in need of a buddy to keep me inspired and motivated. Getting started is hard, but I feel with logging and planning out meals that is 1/2 the battle. Exercise in general I dislike, but I am busy and active in our home with remodel and spring cleaning so I know I'm burning some calories, but do plan to incorporate a few simple stretching and core exercises here and there and ease my way into a route. I know from attempts in my past, if I go gun-ho too much at first I suffer from burn out. Just having someone to share in our journeys can make a big difference, so if anyone would like to join me and be my buddy, let me know.

I have used SP before but things came up and my motivation went out the window. I need someone who I can help and they can help me. To keep each other motivated to reach the final goal. :)

I am 25 and overweight. Not fun. I always try to keep a positive attitude and have a fun loving demeanor. I have a pit bull and he is my baby. I want to be able to take him on runs without him looking back at me and giving me the "come on mommy" look.

Hi I'm Mandie and I live in the UK.

I'm single and have no kids, and work full time in a pretty stressful job. As a result I tend to snack without noticing it during the day, and overeat when I get home in the evenings.

I'm looking for a buddy to just stay in contact and maybe kick me in the rear if I need it- although often just knowing someone out there is rooting for me helps a lot!

Hi I am Patti and was reading your post. Sounds like we are at similar places. I am 51 and have a hard time with emotional eating. I started with SP in Jan. but haven't really used it much. Would like someone to help hold me accountable. I am currently heavier than I've ever been. At 185 and 5'1" I definitely don't like the way I look.
