Hi Everyone
What an awesome idea to have this...I am a return offender, always falling just short of accomplishing my goal. Here I am again and I am hoping I can do it this time around. Why is this time different from all the other times? I am hoping to seek and get support from others, hopefully this will give me the push I've been missing.

I just wanted to thank everyone for postings on this site.

I felt like no one could possibly understand what I was going through with my eating and my weight. Then I came to this group and saw that everyone else had the exact same issues and feelings....I can't tell you how relieved I felt. Finally, someone else who gets it.

This gives me hope that I might be able to get a handle on my challenges with eating. I've felt so alone for so long...and have been very embarassed to talk to my friends and family.

The last 2 days have been very emotional....I see now that I've already begun to have a reaction to this. It may not feel great but I'm ok with that cause I know I must face my fears to conquer them.

Thanks to everyone for being brave enough to talk about your stuff.

Hi Deanna

You've had tough road lately by the sounds of it. I think your decision to come here for support shows just how motivated you are! Good for you.
I know it's easy to throw in the towel when you've been at it for so long...but what I see is someone who's determined to make changes for herself. That in itself says a tremendous amount about you. You will do this! Don't give up.

Hello all! My name is Deanna, I am 28 and I am an overeater. 3 years ago I started a weight loss journey on Biggest Loser Club and had great success. I lost 79 pounds putting me at 171! The lowest I had ever been since middle school. My father in-law was diagnosed with cancer and then began my downfall. He lost his battle 4 months later. Once we found out about his cancer I quit smoking for 4 months. During those 4 months I gained 20 pounds and started smoking again. Overtime I continued putting weight on until I gained a total of 35.2. I know, it was all worth it right? LOL This was a year ago in December.

Today it has been 4 weeks and 1 day since I last smoked! I stepped on the scale this morning and I have gained 5 pounds. Not happy about it but I will take 5 over 30 ANYDAY!! So I feel now I have a great handle on my smoking and I am ready to refocus on losing the weight again.

My starting weight today is 214.8. I am not going to focus on "what was", on the past me. My focus is going to be on the present and future me.

I am looking for spark buddies. People who are interested in posting everyday, being supportive, motivating, and a wee bit competitive! If you are looking for someone also please feel free to message me! Let's do this! Thanks! Hope everyone has a happy and healthy day!

I am always open to the theory that "two heads are better then one!" I would love for us to help each other get thru the times when it seems like eating is all we can think about! The first step though is recognizing that you are an emotional eater and why. Once you can do that, then you have to put some positive thoughts in front of you ever day to let yourself know you are special and you can do this one day at a time! I would love to be your spark buddy! If you are still interested, please send me an email and we can chat! Donde

I too am an emotional eater - I am so tired of binging. I don't even taste the food I am eating half the time. So disgusted w/ myself. I am lost on how to get back on track and stop this cycle. Am looking for a buddy. Therapy is too expensive! Anyone in their mid-40's w/ elementary and middle school kids who either stay at home or work part-time and share the same problem? I think my eating is mostly due to boredom, fatigue and stress. Which leads to guilt, and there ya go, the vicious cycle has been born. Let's team up and get each other thru this "condition" that keeps us from being happy and at peace w/ ourselves. If you're interested, send me a sparkmail or post on my page!

Hello everyone, I have been back on spark people for 1 week and my page looks lonely w/ no friends emoticon I am 42 years old, have 70 lbs to lose, and have been yo yo dieting for the past 10 years. I have had some recent developments in my health that have motivated me to start and finish my journey this time making it a lifestyle as they say. I am definitely an emotional eater, like the list of 16 says, I eat to celebrate (happiness), to grieve (I've lost 4 family members since 1999), out of boredom and more. So, I'm looking for some buddies to help me on my journey. I can be very supportive and encouraging. If you are interested send me a message or friend me. Thanks! emoticon

Hi! :) My name is Manda. I'm 29, and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I've been a SP member, off and on, for 3 or so years, and I'm a new member to the group. This is the first time it's really "stuck" for this long.

I tend to eat when I'm bored. If I don't portion things out (even like rice cakes), I'll find the whole bag gone, and I don't remember eating all of it!

I've done much better the last two weeks, though, and I'm looking forward to a happy, healthier life. :)

I'm a 25 year old mother of a 15 month old daughter looking to lose the baby weight and then some. My issue with emotional eating is that I use it to reward/comfort myself. It's I'm happy or proud of something I've done, I celebrate with a great meal. If I'm sad or angry or stressed or (fill in the blank), I feel like I deserve to eat what I want because of what I'm going through.

It's the end of day 3 on spark people and I feel like I have the right tools here to succeed. Hopefully it keeps up!

totally feeling overwhelmed, sad, and just not sure how to do this eating healthy thing... I know what to eat just not how to put it in action. I want so much to lose weight... am currently laid off and at home which doesn't help. It is so difficult and I need more buddies and some more support. It is really hard.

Tiffany :)

Hi All! This is my second time joining Sparkpeople, and this time I think I'm ready. I'm looking for understanding pals who can help me stay motivated and keep things in perspective as I work on improving my relationship with food and finding my happiness again.

Hey Vicki,

I'm brand new to SP too. Just joined last night. Only heard about Spark from a newspaper article, but I'm blown away by how incredibly complex and complete it is. All I can say is WOW!!

Looking forward to finding some buddies to check in with and help keep me accountable. Your name was the reason I replied to your post. It's the same as mine and spelled the same way too.

I've been pretty much eating healthily since Jan. 4/10 and have lost 23 pounds so far on my own. I've been a yo yo dieter all my life and my main goal this time is to make this the last.

I'm a pretty positive and encouraging person, so if you're looking for a buddy, I am also.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Vic

Hi, I'm Jewels. I have been on Sparkpeople since the end of January and have lost 14 pounds. Now some things have come up and I have been craving my old naughty foods. I'm disappointed with myself because I have put back on 3 on those pounds.

Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by moments that take our breath away.

Not sure who wrote this but thought it beautiful.

My name is Katheryn, I have been a Spark People member for I think 2 years. I have lost over 100 pounds, but since last year I only have lost 6 pounds. I am back on here becasue my eating has gotten out of control. I find myself busy, and then eat on the go, eat when I am lonely, eat when I am stressed.

My Weakness: Fast meals
My Strength: How much I have lost already

hello - nice to see so many folks - I'm new also, got set-up (for the most part) between yesterday and today. Would love to have some "buddies" as well. Looks like we all share the same problems and goals. My emotions cover a wide range (as I compared to that list of 16), but lately the worst is loneliness, which affects the self-esteem. emoticon Spark is jam packed full of inspiration and I'm looking forward to a new community of friends

Hi everyone. I'm Linda and joined SparkPeople Jan 1. I am here to support and find support for my out of control emotional eating. I have struggled with emotional eating for as long as I can remember. I have tried every diet on the market and some that aren't and have decided that my problem is not dieting but the way I view food. So here I am looking for an attitude adjustment and looking forward to the journey.

Hello,

My name is Emily. I have been on and off Sparkpeople since 2006. I decided to come back tonight because I am just sick and tired of feeling sorry for myself and not doing anything about it.

I am 20 years old and I am from Canada. I have battled with weight issues for the past 6 years. I am a recovered Anorexic but I still have some bulimic tendencies. I have had trouble getting myself to eat healthily and exercise regulary since then, with fear of slipping back in to my old habits.

I am looking for a buddy to check in with on a fairly frequent basis. I need to just be told what to do. I can't seem to be able to maintain fitness/nutrition goals for long enough on my own but I have a feeling that if I can find someone to give me a little push, I would be able to keep up with such goals!

At the moment, my current focus is getting myself more active. I need to stop making excuses and just get out there and move it.

Sorry for the very long post! If you are interested in becoming buddies, send me a message or reply to this!

xoxo
Emily

Hi I am Menzy! I am looking forward to someone who would be willing to help me out on my journey to wonderland and then some :) I currently have about 90 pounds to lose and just need someone to check in with. I am a mother of 3, wife to one, teacher of many, and a student. I love to laugh and have fun. Just looking to connect with someone who is positive and will help with the rough patches!

Hi, I'm Sarah and I'm looking for a buddy to check in with once a week.
I've lost 70 lbs, but I feel like I am at the beginning. I am eating clean, mindfully, holistically and healthfully-most of the time. The rest of the time, I am turning to food as a maladaptive coping mechanism. I'm looking for someone to share insights with, talk about how eating is going, and embrace change.
Feel free to email me, or just friend me.

Hi, I'm Donna. I have come down about 32 pounds since October, and have another 40 pounds or so to go, although the weight droppage is starting to slow down now. I have a pretty good handle on being disciplined w/ my eating during the day. I take my food with me to work each day, and I stay away from the vending machines and ordering out/going out for lunch. My hardest time is at home in the evenings. Cooking for a family of 6-7 (depends on if my stepdaughter is home for the evening), but harder than that is after my little ones go to bed. THAT's when I really want to just sit and snack after about 9 p.m.

To get the cool weight gauge at the bottom go to 'Community', Spark pages, My spark page, then at the top corner of your spark page go to 'Edit my spark page'. At the bottom you will find the tracker tool to set it up. I goofed and put mine in pounds when it turned out to be in kg. Don't know why.... Maybe because I'm in Canada.
To the bride to be, all I can say is you have great motivation. Sad to say, but you can be loose with your eating or you can be slim. You can't be both. Make a new good habit weekly and it will budge. And believe in your body's ability to lose the weight! I know you can do it, even if it feels like it's never going to happen. Maybe think in 2 pound goals instead of 40. Have fun with the website!

Hi, I'm Heather and I've just joined too. I've always struggled with my weight, which I guess is why most of us are here :) I got up to my heaviest about 3 years ago-265. I lost 45 lbs in 9 months by going to a weight loss doctor and then hit a wall. I can't lose any more weight; they even kicked me out of the program because I wasn't losing their required weekly weight.
I've tried it all and I don't lose more than 5 lbs and then promptly gain it back. Right now I'm fluctuating between 215 and 220. I'm eating healthier and less than 2,500 calories a day; but tend to eat more on the weekend and I have no support at home. I exercise 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes. And nothing :(
I'm getting married in October and I am determined to lose at least 40lbs. I already have a dress and would love to take it back to exchange it for a smaller size before the wedding.
Thanks in advance for the support.

Just started a few minutes ago. Still trying to figure my way around. A little overwhelmed by all the links & things to do. Anyway, I'm almost 50 with 100+ lbs to lose. I'm looking for some buddies. Here's a little about me:
Currently teaching high school but have returned to college myself for a career change. Have a creative streak - love to make jewelry & bellydance (altho, I am currently on "hiatus"). Love to laugh! Am looking for a few buddies to share the journey. SO TIRED of my life-long ride on the yo-yo weight train! I want to make healthy lifestyle changes I can live with, not start yet another diet plan that will lead to yet another yo-yo ride.
PS: How do you make that little weight bar down at the bottom of a post?

Good Morning, wish I could say that I didn't eat in front of the TV last night but at least it was tropical trail mix...better than m&m's ...yeah, right!
I get on the computer or go outside on good days (this is after I have been on the bike). my PT told me to cut back on the exercise, not to do it everyday because it keeps my fibromyalgia flared up, I told him, that leaves me a day for eating, I think not!
If, I could just learn portion control, I know the rules and standards, I know what I should be doing, but it seems like I am, I don't know...Everything yells "eat me". I'm hiding from my kitchen, lol emoticon

Dear GOSOUTHGOLFGIRL,

Hello! My trouble time is in the afternoon, between 3-5 PM. I can eat for two hours straight if I don't stop myself. I think I'm confusing fatigue for hunger!
Today, I had to put chairs up to block the doors to my kitchen to keep myself out!! Well, it worked. I stayed under my calorie limit.

I wishing you good luck and healthy habits!

Just want to introduce myself. I am an emotional eater who does well all day and then eats too much junk at night. It doesn't take much to gain weight with that habit! I'm glad to see so much support on this team. I wish everyone a successful journey on the way to health.

Hi Everyone, I am 57 years young, married to my soldier, who is married to the Army, lol. we live in Wisconsin, I have several heath issues and I could give all the reasons why I over eat but, they are just excuses. It is my fault, no one force the food on me. I chose to eat, food was my friend...Now I choose not too.
If, I didn't have to eat, it would be great. Great but not healthy. Once I start to eat, get out of my way, I can't seem to stop. Darned if I can figure it out. emoticon Could use a buddy!

Hi everyone! My name is Clarissa. I've been on SP for about a month now and just joined this group. I am 23 years old, single, with no kids and planning to go back to school full time and work part time thanks to the fact that I lost my job yesterday. Ever sincE I joined SP, I've been able to mostly not participate in my emotional eating because of having to log everything. I live in NEPA and am really enjoying starting to exercise again.

Hi, I'm pretty new to all this. I could totally use a buddy in this journey! I've struggled with weight issues my whole life. I need to finally make the change and what's always been missing is a good support. This site is amazing for that! It's one thing to see it on a commercial or t.v. show. It's different when you can TALK to the person. So please, add me, message me, anything! I need a buddy! or five! emoticon emoticon

Hey everyone, I'm Jennifer, new to this team & fairly new to SP. It's nice to meet everyone! I'm still navigating my way around, but from what I've seen, this is the greatest place for me, right now, while I'm going to start losing my weight & taking my life back. emoticon

Jennifer :-)

Lately I have been giving in to temptation. Like everyone I feel awful after heck I feel awful before.
I know what triggers me. Just about anything. I just get tired of resisting. I took measurements this afternoon. Well that was a thrill. At least I didn't eat went out for a walk with my daughter. Now I am back and need to eat dinner. But guess what I have already used up today's calories. What to do. Well I will eat something as it is not good to miss meals. I will eat healthy and only the amount I need to get through the night. Donna

I know exactly what you mean. I just joined, but have been battling my weight for years. I think you are awsome for not giving up. I wish us both the best.

hello everyone,

been away for 6 months from spark and put on another stone! so here I am again a total of 4.5 tones to lose before I shall be healthy again :( feels like a very long and hard road ahead. But thinking negatively will not help me with my journey because I do not have a choice anymore as my health is at serious risk. Looking forward talking to ya all!

Hi Team, My name is Layla. I am new to this site. I have been working on it for about 2 weeks. I am an emotional eater and have been one for a long time. I have 100+ to lose so I plan on being here for the long road. I am looking for buddies to share the road. I would like to have some that are new to this program like me and some that have been here for a while and know the ropes. I am not into texting at all but I am a loyal emailer.

Hi fellow emotional eaters! I'm at the end of my first week on this site and have been mainly tracking my food. What's REALLY revealing is how most of my daily calories come from snacking -- the eating I do when I'm bored or sad or anxious, etc. etc. It would probably be helpful to have a buddy to go through this process with. Computer check-ins better for me than texting, though.
