So, I guess we are all in agreement about what can lessen our pain. I wanted to lose the weight to get off blood pressure meds. Sorry to say that I'm still on the meds cause it's my genes.

Repairing gut issues lessened my pain as well as contributed to dropping weight.

Yeh - the weight thing, too. I also lost a lot of weight which helped drop the pain emoticon

Agree with you on the losing weight helped with the pain, HARRIETT14, Knee dr. told me one of the first things I could do to help before knee replacements was to lose the weight. Four pounds of pressure gone for every pound I lost. He was right. Half, if not more, was relieved. My granddaughter asked me if I had got my new knees I was moving so much better. LOL

Welcome back to you all. I found that losing the weight has helped a great deal for me. Less on my body to carry.

Welcome back.

I had intensive physiotherapy to help me. My arthritis is in the spine and having that therapy which included appropriate exercises for the arthritis as well as scoliosis was a HUGE help. My core muscles had been very week for a fair while, and the pain was severe, but since undergoing rehab I hardly have any pain. I am limited to what I can safely do, i.e. no lifting over 5kg, no twisting, etc. and it helps keep me pain-free. I very seldom have any pain relief now, too.

Good luck with your journey.

Kris

It is so nice to have you back with us, SPEEDBMP1973! I have had a foot and hand have metal put into them to hold together with metal plates/pins. Both knees are next. One by end of May. Am really getting nervous about this.

Welcome back.
I can identify with having started with arthritis in my knees at age 20.
By the early '90's I was advised to have both knees replaced.
(Still haven't replaced the R knee.)
For the last few years, I've been using a natural oral product with myrrh as one of it's ingredients. Works better for me than Rx meds, including narcotics.
Incidentally, I've had 2 breast surgeries for cancer in the past month and needed nothing (not even a Tylenol) for pain.

Hello all, I have rejoined SparkPeople after years away. Life since I turned 40 went kind of crazy and I ended up caring for both my parents and my dad's older sister until they passed away while working a very physically demanding job. I quit that job thankfully because it was tearing up my body SO bad, etc.
I find that all of the caregiving and the ex job have done a number on my joints. I've had arthritis since my early 20s in my knees, but now it seems to have spread to all of my joints to some degree, even my right thumb.
I am looking forward to seeing how y'all cope with arthritis while maintaining as active a lifestyle as you can!
