I'd like to run a race with my daughter. Although even at 12, she'd beat me. :)

Sigining up for a 5k on September 5th here in town. My daughter and I will be running together....well in the race anyway, her legs are much longer than mine...she'll definitely finish first. emoticon

And that's what it's all about operadiva--COMPLETING it. You can up your speed each time after that. Your first goal should be simply finishing. :)

And RKGIBBS3, if you're asking for opinions, it sounds like the first one might be your best bet. emoticon

Hi there! I'm new here. Joined because I'm signing up for a 5K in the middle of August. I know the plan is for 8 weeks of training, but I have 6 weeks before the race. I don't plan to run with the greatest time in history. However, I DO want to complete the race. To show myself I can do it. AND it gives me a goal to work towards before boot camp (which is in November and seems so far away that it's not an everyday-inspiring goal).

I am debating between 2. One is Sat July 23 and the other in Friday, July 29th. I really want to do the one on the 23rd because it is in the morning and only a few miles from my house.
The one on the 29th is at 7pm and in a neighboring town about 12 miles from my house.
Pro to the first, it's at a time of day when I have the most focus, energy and motivation (I always exercise about 6am each morning) and it's super close and on familiar territory.
Con to the first, I'll be in week 7 of the training (though I know I could still make it, it'd be nice to have that extra week under my belt).
Pro to the second, and extra week to prep for it and to finish the 8 week training.
Con to the second, in the evening when I am usually low on energy and have less motivation and focus, and it's out of town in an area I'm not familiar with.

I will decide after I get back from my Yellowstone trip (We leave this Thurs and will be gone just over a week, but no worries, I plan on making time for a little running while gone!)
I'll let you all know when I pick which race to run in :)

I have not officially signed up yet, but I have two in mind. The first one is the Marine Mud Run, yes you read that right. It is a 5k obstacle course through the mud, getting my team together now. It helps toys for tots, wish me luck on this one. The second one is a traditional 5k called Turkey Stampede. This one is on Thanksgiving morning and helps our local homeless shelter.

Don't be nervous! That's not what this is all about. It's an experience, so enjoy the run. And if it gets to be a little much, there is no shame in slowing the pace or even walking for a bit. It's your first 5K--the accomplishment is in *finishing it*. :)

I just signed up for the Seattle Furry 5K (Yes pups are welcome and invited. Unfortunately too many dogs around stresses Shimmer out, so I'll be going solo.) on June 12th!

I'm super nervous but excited too! A group of alums from my college is signing up together. I guess that means we'll start together, but I'm definitely running at my own pace!

Signed up for first race. It is a 2 mile race though. Montana Women's Run on May 7th. I usually walk it with friends but I am going to run it for someone who is being treated for cancer right now who can't even walk it this year. I can't wait!

After following this training plan for the last 8 weeks, I ran my 1st 5K today. I finished in 33 mins! I was shocked because I have had a muscle strain in my leg for about 2 weeks and had terrible body and stomach cramps all day yesterday. I was expecting maybe 45 mins or even the entire hour, I was so humbled yet proud to see the 33 mins on the timer! Thank you sooooo much, I couldn't have done it without God and SparkPeople! emoticon

I am signing up for a 4.1 mile race. Just abit over a 5K. Last two times I ran this race I got 1:02 and 1:12.
I did not properly train, plus being heavy had difficulty, however I still finished- I loved doing it! I don't do it to win anything. I just do it to say I did it. emoticon

THIS time, I am going to train using the SP 5K training. :) That should make this year MUCH better!

I forgot to mention. The 4.1 mile race is on July 4th.

I did a search for 5K's in my area and the closest ones are over an hour away. Trying to weigh out whether I want to do it or not. In the meantime, I'm just working on improving my time. So far, my 5K best is 29.25 minutes.

Race for Life - Cancer Research UK. There are events all over the UK throughout the summer. I am signed up to do Brinton's Park, Kidderminster 5K on 5th June. This will be my second 5K, but I had to walk my first as I had been ill, so I really aim to be running the whole 5K this time.

I am so excited about signing up for my FIRST EVER 5K, thanks to the Rookie Running Program. It's May 14th and benefits the charity, The Women's Care Center, which helps young girls with pregnancy tests, check ups and counseling. It helps girls find another way rather than abortion.
The SP 5K Your Way Rookie Running Team has really brought me along and given me the motivation to keep on going. The weeks and the training sessions are set up in such timely increments that I am really making progress and look forward to the next session every week.
Thanks Spark People for a great training program and for getting me into a new and exciting exercise routine!
Congratulations to all of the men and women who have joined and continued with this program. Isn't it great?

I'm planning on signing up for doing a local 5k at the end of May. I'm pretty nervous seeing I've never ran in a 5k before!! Training has been tough to do outside with snow and my husband working alot but I'm hoping the treadmill has been just as good.

I've signed up for our local Frinton & Walton run on May 8th.
It's the 25th year, and you get to choose either 2 miles, 5 miles or a half marathon.

So I've registered for the 5 mile race which is just over 8KM

Yes! Just today. It's the "Run Like a Mother" 5K on Mother's Day (May 8th) in Naperville, IL. I'm so excited! I've run 5K's before and finished, but never by running the whole thing. This time I'm going to run the whole way without walking.

I am signing up for the Edward Moses 5k May 1st in St. Lawrence County. I have wanted to do this for a few years now and never gave it more than a passing thought. This year, I am in and working on donations for it now. It is an organization to help Cancer victims in my area. I want to raise atleast the 50 so I can get a commemorative t-shirt to mark my accomplishment. I just finished my first walk/run of week 2 out of 8 so I know I will be ready when May comes. I am so excited! Thank you for having this site and support.

Not yet! I have more time to register, so I'm going to wait and see how I feel. I'm scheduled to run the Virtual 5k on April 29th, and there's a 5k here some time in March I want to sign up for. I also must budget, because they're pricey! emoticon
