I'm signed up to do a virtual 1 Mile walk. I won't have completed my training before then. My aim is to do the Race For Life next April/May time. Unless something comes along before then.

My first race is lined up for Nov 6th here in Wichita. It should be perfect timing with the end of training and even if I repeat another week or two I'll still do it; I can dream can't I!

I signed up for the womens fitness awareness 5k walk/run put on by St Lukes Hospital in Boise Idaho. I am happy to say that today I completed that race and am stoked about it. I felt great. I may not have had the greatest time but hey, I'm a beginner:)) I am so ready to do more. There is another coming up next week I belive I will be participating in and there is one in Portland on October 29th, plus I get to dress up in costume for this one, lol. Im IN!!

I was originally planning to do my 1st 5k race next Saturday for American Lung Assn. I found out that there was a 5k for Hunger today and since it was only 10 minutes from my house I signed up this week. DD got up early and ran with me. I was thrilled because I was not only able to run the entire 5k (it was my 1st 5k race and my 1st time running a 5k outside) I beat my treadmill time by 7 minutes! It was very exciting and emotional. I posted pix in my blog. Running is helping me burn those calories!

I'm planning to do at least 1 5k race a month and continue doing my own 5ks twice a week.

Katie, you should come to Washington DC. Alot of our 5Ks are in the evening. Especially since during the summer it's soooooo hot and humid during the day. I ran my first 5k in the dark in June and it was still 99 degrees and 99% humidity. Made for tough running, but it was actually a blast!! I now prefer evening 5Ks.

LOL, Katie. I can understand that to an extent. 6am is my bedtime. Staying up till 8am and running a 5k is TOUGH! (Ironically,, that's when I ran my best time, though.) LOL

LUCKYLADYKATIE, check out SP's Virtual races, which is exactly what you're talking about - making up your own race. You do it on your own by mapping out the distance and then posting your time.

There's one called the Trick or Treat Trot 5K that's "happening" the week of Oct. 30th. Check it out here:

haven't signed up for a race yet. It seems like they all start so early in the morning and my body needs a few hours to warm up. I think I might just make up my own race with a friend that's training for a marathon.

And it doesn't have to be an *official* 5k....A virtual 5k is just as good. You just go out with the aim to run a 5k. That's it!

It's official!

I have registered for the LA Cancer Challenge 5K which takes place on October 30th. It's actually pretty perfect since the race raises funds for pancreatic cancer research and that's exactly what took my uncle's life some time ago.

Plus, this is the first race in a new event called the LA Holiday Cup - the other two are the Gobble Wobble and the Christmas Run - so now I have future events to train for and look forward to. How cool is that?!

Not sure how much fundraising I'm going to try to do for the Halloween race, but if you're interested in checking out my progress, here's my very own race page: http://www.lacancerchallenge.org/crabada

I have just completed the Walk/Jog Program and I have jumped into this one to try to increase my jogging time a little. I did the end of program 5K in 44 minutes. I am signed up for the Virtual Halloween 5K here on SP and I hope to go a little faster.

I'm signed up for a Komen 5k in 2 weeks - and I've only been training for the last 3 weeks, so the most I've run in one stretch is .6 miles. I'll be happy if I can run *most* of the race with a few walking breathers.

Yes!! I've signed up for an untimed 5K fun run that's only three weeks away, but it's okay - I'm planning to mostly walk that one, I'm doing it to help get me excited about my running program!

I am also looking at a couple of timed 5Ks in November, and will probably choose one of them as my "official" 5K to complete this program.

She believed she could, so she did.

I signed up for the SP Trick or Treat Trot. There is also a 5k near me on October 23rd. I don't think I will be quite finished with training, but I am thinking about signing us up for that!

I am signed up for the Detroit Free Press 5K Oct. 18. I just signed up for this team today and don't have enough time to do the entire 8 weeks. I will be starting on week 2 day 3. I currently walk 1 & 1/2 miles in 22 minutes 5 times a week. I think I will be ok doing this. Any thoughts?

I have signed up for this race, I have never really run before, but I am willing to give it a try. I swimm three times and week and ride my bik to work, so we will see how I do. I am nervis, but like the challenge. I start my training tommorrow.

I just finished my first 5K race called the Cheesehead Run. I ended up running 3 minutes faster than any time I've previously done on my own, so I was pretty pleased with myself.

Crossing that finishing line is such an awesome feeling!!

So, if you haven't signed up for a 5K race, DO IT!!!
