Restarting my run/walk program! I'm glad that I saw my email today that we have a new leader. I think this program will be easier on my shins & joints. I was starting out too fast too soon.

Good luck to all! We can do it! emoticon emoticon emoticon

My name is Temitope. I just joined this team but I am not new to running/walking. Did a 5k running last year and 5k walking too, hoping to do as many as possible this year. (They are all virtual races though).

Hello team. My name is Cyndi. I just turned 54 this week and I a determined to get back in shape. I joined SP over 5 years ago and lost down to within 5 pounds of my goal 2009. I was running races in fact I ran the Whidbey Island 1/2 Marathon in April 2009. Since then I have gained most of the weight back and stopped running for a while due to some medical issues. I am cleared to exercise again and have been walking/jogging for about a month now. I really want to get back to running races again but I need to start out at the bottom again.
I am ready to get this program rolling. I have been walking with a bit of jogging but I want a set plan to follow each day!
Sunday is usually my rest day but I am excited to get started with this SO we shall see.
I hope you get to know a lot of you and form a support system.

Hello, I'm new to this program for the 5k, thought I would give it a try. I want to up my fitness routine and eventually be able to run one day for a few miles. I also would love to sign up for a 5k, but been too nervous to do so. Thinking about doing one in July and one in August. Wishing everyone lots of luck.

I just went through a c25k program with a local shoe store and ended up walking the race, which was ok and a good and fun experience. it was a disappointment though - my old and out of shape muscles couldn't recover and keep up with the pace of the program so i will do this and hopefully get a head start on the next round that will start in the end of the summer. i too had problems with getting my lungs working.. found a decongestant spray helped a lot!

Thought I would make a quick intro for myself. I am 30 and live in Tampa. Last year I was doing the C25K program but wasn't able to really get past week 3 or 4...can't remember which. I need to get back in to running and figured I should try this program. I have already started week one. emoticon

Hello people! I am also joining this program because i need to start from somewhere.

I like running but after 2-3 minutes i can't continue, i can't catch my breath. But because i want to run i thought it would be best for me to start jogging.
I was going to join the walking program but, I'm already used to walk with high temp for a long while, walking is not a problem for me.

And here, today is my first day, and i am going to do my first mission!
Good luck everyone~~

Hi all! I'm planning to begin this program tonight after work. I'm needing to really do something that will help me be more accountable and I've been wanting to start this program for a while now but I've been too nervous or scared. I now have a friend who is on board with her weight loss/exercise program and has lost about 15 lbs and wants to do a local 5k and wants me to do it with her. So I'm seriously considering it. It's about 6 weeks away so with this program and beginning training right away I should be able to do this.

Hope everyone's doing great with their programs!

Hi everyone! I starting walking in January and have decided to push myself a little more. Would love to try a 5K at some point. If you would have asked me 20 years ago if I would ever be doing something like this the answer would be NO! I am 53 years old, but in great health and have been walking 2 miles/day for the past few months. I think I'm ready for a little more....

Despite all of the pain I have been dealing with. I am training to jog again. I actually don't run on even flat ground. I run around our arena on bark chips. Now that is a workout. I started walk/jogging because I gain muscle really easily and although muscle burns fat and lifting heavy gains muscle, jogging burns fat and builds lean muscle. I have only lost 14 pounds since November and I have gained 10 pounds of muscle. Anyway, I am a Mother of 5 wonderful children ranging from 1 to 11 and I am 30 yrs old. I used to walk/jog everyday and got down to 164 pounds in a year before I had my last 3 kids. It is time to trim the waste and gain my strength back.

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to get back into jogging and what better way to do it, a little at a time. The plan is doable and figured I would give it try. I did day 1 yesterday and today I did an hour long bike ride. I was a bit sore yesterday believe it or not.

I had foot surgery in Feb and I've been cleared to start running. I think this program, even if I take longer than 5 weeks, will be a great way to ease in to running. I am signed up for a 5k in July and it would be awesome if I could actually run the entire race. Tomorrow AM is W1D1.

Hi! My name is Connie. I've tried the 5K program before but I didn't do too well. I am looking to do better this time around emoticon I did my first 5K in March. I did the Color me Rad w/my daughter. I jogged a little bit, but it wasn't pretty! lol. We are signed up for a Dirty Girl 5K in September so I have motivation to get moving since there will be obstacles in the course. emoticon

My name is Liz, I was in the process of training for a few races with the goal of running the tough mudder race. I ruptured a disc and had to have surgery. Now my foot and leg are numb. Doctor says the more I do the better it will get. I am ready to train and hopefully get back to my old self.

Rue here, and I have dabbled with running before, and found that I was really missing it once I fell off the exercise wagon.
Due to a variety of circumstances, I currently have a fair amount of weight to lose. And so I am very excited to be a part of this group to get me going and keep me motivated!:-)

I am planning on running in the Run for Women on June 1st in my area. I am excited and this will be my first 5K. I am 2 weeks into training and I just incorporated the intervals, they are killer but that is good for both my running time and my weight loss goals.

I'm doing my first 5K in June. I already told my personal trainer about it, but will have to do most of the work on my own. I plan on walking it because running it would be a disaster right now.

Hi, my name is Wendy and at age 56 I don't want to be a runner in the purest sense, but I do want to be healthy and understand the runner lingo that my husband and daughters all understand:) I am looking forward to a little less huffing and puffing but please tell me this is totally normal! My husband, who runs 5 days a week, tells me to just give it time but I would love to hear this from other beginners.

Hi my name is Sandy and I already walk/jog a couple times a week on the Treadmill. I am trying to up my time so I thought this would be a good challenge for me, though I am not looking forward to walking for 4 minutes and only running 1. I am already at 2 minutes walking 1 minute running now but I will try and start my training over. I do other things such as belly dancing, cardio kickboxing, pilates, zumba biking and elliptical everyweek. I try never to do the same thing day after day.

I will be participating in my first 5K on April 20th. I had started training and then injured my hip. I was given the all clear by my doctor to start back with my training. I am going to do the walk/run training program as my race is in 5 weeks. I am really looking forward to it, and looking forward for any and all support :)

Well, I walk a lot but a lot of it is more strolling. I have never stepped it up so with the support of my daughter I am going to try this out and go for my first 5K the end of June. A bit nervous but did day one today and made it.

Hi everyone!

I'm Lauren, and I'm 18 years old. I mainly wanted to try this plan to get in shape for prom and finally reach my goal weight. I don't really have a set race I'm training for, but I've been looking for one to try. If not, I've considered running one of the virtual races.

Hey everyone! I've actually run 2 5ks this years - the Glow Run in January and the Suncoast Classic last weekend. However, in the meantime I've developed PF in my right heel so I'm not running at the moment. For the rest of this month my cardio will come from cycling and then I'll step back into walking and jogging. I'm hoping this training program, coupled with cycling strength and strength training, will help keep the PF at bay.

Next race is a 1-mile adventure race in April with my 9-year old. Then 1-milers, also with him, in June, July, September and October. Next 5k will be October, then November, and December.

Hi y'all!!

I have signed up for my first 5k in May. It is a kick-off to our Missourians Team Spark Rally. I have been walking, and I thought this program would be good for me, for the event but also just a way of doing my daily walking. I already mix some short bursts in, and I liked the idea of the schedule to help keep me on track.

This is your journey. Take the wheel and drive!

Hello! Just joined to get inspiration from other like minded individuals... My plan is to complete a 5k in April, first ever. I'm able to run a mile on the treadmill going 5mph, and then I stop, need to break through that roadblock and keep going!
