So far I haven't officially started. In large part because I don't want to set myself up for failure and know that doing so before the holiday would do just that. We have a dinner with extended family tomorrow, a bbq with neighbors the next day then the holiday (and my aunt's bday).
But...I have been eating almost exclusively lean meats and no fast food. Fruits, veggies. A little yogurt (but not getting 2 probiotics a day).
Running into my standard roadblock---WHY does it have to be so much more expensive to eat food that is good for you than junk?

Thanks to you all for your warm welcome.
Yes this way of eating/life does work, and honestly I always feel best eating this way. So why do I stop?

Had a rough night with power loss in a storm, and had red meat (husband cooked!) but with a salad. So not perfect but waaaay better than I have been doing.

Today so far so good and its after lunch. Here's to PROGRESS!

Hi Ladies: I am so happy to see new faces emoticon . I am renewing my commitment to myself this morning after a very rocky weeks. So I am starting back at Cycle 1, Day 1 and I am hoping I don't stop until I get to GOAL!. I do so much better when I have this group to check in with every day. It's when I quit being accountable that I get off track. Have a great day y'all.

Hi, I'm back too. I lost 15 lbs on the 17DD but then kind of switched over to calorie counting with the spark tracker. Lost another 8lbs then weight loss stopped for 3 months I got frustrated and I threw in the towel and gained 5 lbs back. The flag went up and was looking at yet another diet to try. Chris Powell's carb cycling diet sounded good. As I was reading it I realized that it really was basically the same as the 17DD just a lot easier. So, here I am back to the place I began and that worked for me from the beginning. So here I will stay to reach my goal weight.

Thanks Sassy - my thoughts exactly!

It does feel empowering to be able to monitor and know when it's time to kick it back in gear BEFORE all the wheels fall back off the bus :)

Keep up your great work!

Hi WayOut: So glad you are getting back on the bandwagon. You'll have that 5.5 lbs off in no time. My goal is to try and get to 2 pounds under my goal weight so I have a little wiggle room. My goal is 125, but I'd like to get to 122/123 so if I can back to 125 I know it's time to get back to Cycle 1. I am never going to get back to where I was. I have worked so hard for so long to lose this weight and I am tired of the fight. I don't want to battle this the rest of my life. I want to go into the last half of my life enjoying life, not worrying about what I look like, how much I weigh or what size my clothes are.

Hello to all who are re-NEW-ed!
I am renewing my commitment starting today as well.
I had lost as much as 18 pounds from March through May, then began slipping back to my own edits of the plan little by little until a taste here and there turned into an entire bag of chips or half container of ice cream. My goodness is doesn't take much to create an avalanche. Fortunately, only gained 5.5 pounds back, but time to put the nonsense away.

That said, today is C1D1 for me and I am EXCITED!

Welcome back to the rest of you as well. So glad to see some familiar names as well!

I'm right there with you both! I actually jumped back on board last Monday! So, here I am! It's like the ol' gang! Glad to see you both here! I'm actually using the spark app on my phone and journalling my fitness and my food and really trying to go ALL in... although I'm not as comfortable with the way the posting is done now with the daily postings on the one thread, we used to open new threads all the time and answer them when we did this... but now I think it's a daily thread and that just seemed to go on and on and I got lost in it... so not sure I'll be posting much on this like I used to.. but you will find me on facebook!

Eat clean and be lean!

I hear ya Kathy! We had actually joined the gym in March and had gone a couple times then I slipped and fell in the garage. Thought I'd broken my foot, multiple xrays revealed no break so doc said just badly sprained and bruised, maybe some tissue damage. It took until just a couple weeks ago for it to feel good enough to walk any distance. We just got home from Florida and I spent a good deal of time walking at DisneyWorld, swimming and playing on the beach. So now tomorrow morning we are hitting the gym!! My daughter said Morning? do we have to go in the morning? My reply? I'd rather go in the morning and then have the whole day to play around. She said, let's go at 8 lol (personally I don't plan on being awake at 8).

Boy!! Can I ever relate to what you are going thru.......we have all been there, done that - and I'm no exception!!

I'm currently working on getting my 20 pounds back off that I gained thru life's upsets and turmoils and my 1.5 year long ordeal with orthopedic problems!!

So - welcome to my world - you have company, girl!! :-)

I'm not new to the forum or to the 17DD but have renewed my commitment to both. 2 years ago I began the 17DD with decent success but then life happened. First my younger sister went into hospice care and was in and out of nursing homes and hospice for 5 months before passing away in Sept 2012, this happened just as I hit cycle 3 and had trouble sticking with anything with so much time spent in hospital cafeterias or eating out (doesn't help when the hospice workers come visiting with freshly baked cookies or donuts). Then just as she passed away her daughter got engaged (then found out she was expecting!!), wedding moved up, we've since had 3 trips to Florida since the wedding in Nov 2012. Now life seems to be settling down but regardless I've decided I need to do this for myself and my kids (and my adorable 'grandson'--technically great nephew but his mommy says I'm gramma so I'll take it lol). I was down 40 lbs when my sister went into hospice facility for the second time (was there 4 times total) then had gained 20 back by the time my niece's wedding rolled around. Now I'm at my highest weight ever and well enough said!!!
Both of my children (15 and almost 13) want to get in shape and have about 25-30 extra pounds they could easily drop (but I won't ever tell them that)....they have convinced us join the local community center and we are starting tomorrow going up there at least every other day.
So today I'm hitting the grocery store (our local store has a great sale today only) and on Tuesday I'll be doing Cycle 1 day 1. Why wait until Tuesday you ask? I'm hosting Bunco on Monday night and fully intend on having a couple grown up beverages!! While most of the snacks I'm planning on serving I can have with cycle 1 others not so much (while I was actually planning this delicious dessert with beer bread made with strawberry pop, cool whip and strawberries I have since decided to lighten that up and instead make a lightened version of an almond pound cake (using yogurt instead of butter and water) and making kabobs with the cake and strawberries.)
