Hi Everyone. I joined SP at the beginning of August, apparently. I didn't realize there was a forum especially for those who joined then. I finished the Diabetes Weight Loss Challenge a couple of weeks ago and am looking for a new challenge to join. I've lost 17 lbs since joining SP and would like to continue with the new habits I've learned.

It's great to have so much more energy now than I did when I first started, and exercising on a regular basis makes me feel as if I'm doing something right finally. Also eating fewer carbs and watching my portion size has my diabetes under better control. I love SP!

I was so surprised that I was able to lose weight as I am nearly 60 and have diabetes and a low thyroid. It was exciting to see the pounds fall away. I do feel my motivation ebbing some now, so I'm trying to find ways to stay motivated. Good luck to everyone. I hope you're making good progress towards your goals.

I joined Spark People in July. I was exercising, doing Zumba and walking, but was overeating like crazy. I gained 9 pounds in July! But I got weighed today and have lost it, thankfully. I love Spark People!

Hello Team - As I was going through my teams, I realized that I never introduced myself to my fellow "classmates". I have been married for 25 years and have an 18 year old daughter and a 17 year old son. I found SP through my Kindle. I downloaded a sample of the book and got hooked. I joined SP on August 6th and so far I have lost 8 pounds!!

My daughter and son walked and rode bikes with me to get me started exercising. Now that they're back in school, I have been walking on the treadmill, riding a stationary bike and doing walking DVD's. My son is all about weight training and is trying to convince me to start weight training with him. We'll see about that!!

I have a long journey in front of me, but it doesn't seem so difficult now.

Hey Everyone! I'm 28 and live in Texas. I've been working all year on my two major goals.

1)Quit smoking. I did that March 9th and haven't looked back! Best decision I ever made!

2) Lose 45 pounds. I got 10 off on my own, then plateaued for a solid 5 months. That's when I joined SP and hired a personal trainer. I'm down another 3 pounds since last week! And I can feel my muscles starting to firm up. I can't wait until I don't jiggle when I walk or wave my arms! LOL!

SP has been a huge help so far!

Hello Sparkles,

I am a 50 something empty nester lady with a pretty special and wonderful husband, I can't work out how I missed joining this team when I began my SP journey at the start of August emoticon

I love the nutrition and fitness trackers, and am inspired by the many brilliant success stories and motivational Spark pages I read every day.

Differences so far? Since drinking my water, eating smaller portions and exercising (mainly the dog-walking and Leslie Sansone walk at home DVDs), I'm at least three pounds lighter ,muscles toning nicely, building more stamina and looking better around the face. I've lost an inch from my hips too.

How's everyone else doing?

Look forward to getting to know you more emoticon Bunny

Hi Great2day! Welcome to Spark People and the team. Those little ones can be a great motivation to exercise. Start dancing with them to music they love, they will beg you to do that everyday!!! Dancing is great exercise and you will be teaching them to move too! Playing and running in the yard makes for great family time and wonderful exercise also.

Hello everyone!

I've been a member of sparkpeople for a week or so, and I'm just finding my way to the groups!

I'm a 27 yo single mom of a two little ones. My boys are 4 and 2. I gained 40 pounds following my divorce last year, in addition to the baby weight I hadn't lost... stacked on from one then another.

I'm finally ready to get rid of this weight and give myself a fresh start. Sparkpeople so far has been amazing. I've been able to aim for nutrients, and tracking calories has never been easier.

I'm looking forward to getting to know some fellow sparkers, and hopefully find a sparkbuddy. =)

Welcome to the team ONEONTHEPATH, SUMMERBREESE, I am so glad you joined in. Spark Teams are such a good way to get support, advice and tips! I was really hesitant to join in at first, it is just not me but once I did I was glad I made the jump. I really don't even post on my facebook wall much (well a friend of mine teased me about that and I would sometimes post "Bob, here is my wall post!" just to tease him). Posting here though has let me share my issues and find out how others deal with them. I have gotten great advice and lots of atta girl's when I was successful!

hi everybody,I just joined and hope that we can all keep in touch as I know that I will need help and friends to talk to. Thanks for letting me in the group,my hardest thing to keep on track will be exercising and remembering to write down what I've eaten when I eat instead of trying to remember what I've eaten at the end of the day! Again thanks!

Hey everyone! I'm Catharina and I'm 23 years old. My main goal is to finally feel comfortable and sexy in my body. I don't necessarily have to lose weight, I suppose I'm slim and quite toned (thanks to my love for exercise), but there are still several areas that could looks better, like my thighs and also my hips and arms. I just want to achieve the fittest and tightest version of my body that is possible which is what I need to finally feel good about myself. I don't really have problems with sticking to an exercise schedule (5-6 times a week), but I need support for sticking to a healthy eating and avoid overeating (kind of a struggle for me sometimes).

Of couse, I'm also herre for ANYONE who needs support :)

hello! College student here, looking to work off the 10 pounds I gained my freshman year. I'm almost 20, a vegetarian, and a psychology/english dual major in undergraduate studies. I'm currently at 120 pounds, but for my frame I am most comfortable hovering around 110-115.

So happy to actually be doing something about the changes I want to see.

Best of luck to you all!

Don't give up! You are going to have your ups and downs. I know I have. I would and gain and lose and gain. My doctor told me that is normal when first starting a new lifestyle. I lost 10 pounds and turned around and gained it right back. Doing that has made me even more determined now to lose it all and get back in shape.

Hi there. I am 23 and I'm 5'2'' and I currently weigh 205. I was 242 back in May 2010 and got down to 195 but my pants began to feel a bit tighter and then I weighed myself to find out that I gained 10lbs back in the blink of an eye. Just when I thought I was right on track (making excuses for special occasions and what not) I fell back into some of my old poor habits which makes me realize that I really didn't come as far as I had once thought. So here I am trying to refocus on my weight loss goals. I need to stop making excuses when I think it's ok to over indulge and then before you know it I'm back to my old eat habits. NOT GOOD!

I'm happy to be here and I once and for all am going to nip this in the butt. I don't want to be fat anymore. I want to be happy and be fit and healthy.

Best Wishes to everyone and lots of love,

aDeterminedGal

Hi, I am Darlene, I live in Winston. I weigh 248 and need to get down to 185. I have had a battery of tests this last week and found out I have a fatty liver. This is not good but it is not all that bad. The weight loss is an order from my doctor. She also wants me to get some excercise. I joined the YMCA and will be starting Zumba on monday. I also joined Ballfit. Hopefully starting this will help me get more motivated at home. I will probably go swimming and use the weight room once in awhile. All this is going to be very hard for me being I am 100% disabled. I have had a disc fusion in my neck and stil have a herniated disc above the fusion. I also have a protruded disc in my lower back.

I am new to this kind of stuff. I joined to track excecise, food and expecially the amount of calories and fat in the foods I eat. This is what the doctor wants me to do. She also said I have high cholesterol but it is down since last test. I decided to join a forum to get some feedback and hopefully motivation.

Good luck with all your goals

My name is Kelly. I've been a member of SP for a long time and I'm starting all over. So here I am.

I'm 23 years old and a single mother to a 3.5 year old boy. I'm currently unemployed, but attending nursing school full-time. So I'll need all the extra support I can get because nursing school and healthy lifestyles don't really mix. I live with two of my best friends, and have two of my other best friends (one of them my boyfriend) over all the time.

My goal right now is to lose about 60 lbs. I'm building up a support system and have a reward system set up. So let's see how this goes.

Hi my name is Amy I'm 29 and a mommy of 3 awesome kiddos 5,3, & 1. I just joined Spark and I am really hoping this is what is going to help me get rid of this weight that has haunted me my whole life. Getting ready to turn 30 and still being heavy just kills me.. I'm gonna do it, no matter what it takes. I want to be there for my kids and my hubby and I want to really live like I haven't been able to my whole life. I need help so hopefully this is something that will keep me in line.

Hello everyone. I joined a few days ago. this is my third time joining SP and this time I know I will be successful. I have been overweight for as long as I can remember. I haven't worked in the last two years but maintained my weight. My husband walked out on me 3 months ago, but I am slowly coming back better then ever. I have a job, picked myself up and moved from Indiana to Tennessee just so I could find a job. Not an easy thing to do at 47. So here I am. Ready to get on with my life and get healthy in the process.

You never know how strong you are until you have no other choice.

Hi! Everyone
I just joined on the 3rd, still finding my way around, so this is my first measage. I'm 48. I was never small, but after 25 years at a desk job I got up over 300 lbs. Now I'm unemployed, and figure I have time to do something about it.
Good Luck to everyone.

Hello ,
I am a 19 year old SAHM of a beautiful 9 month old daughter. Between taking care of my daughter, trying to clean and do my online schooling I dont have a whole lot of time.
I often skip meals or just cook something "quick" but not healthy.
The only exercise I get in a day is one 15 min walk and chasing my little crawler around the house.
I have been trying to lose weight for a while now.
I find I will change my diet and exercise routines for a week but than just stop,
I am lacking the motivation to lose the weight and keep a healthy lifestyle so I thought I might try this.
I am kind of confused on how to use this website because there are just so many tools. If someone could maybe message me on how to start using this site it would be great !

hello my name is amy and i live in south carolina. i have one misbehaving domestic partner and 3 dogs. i am needing to lose wieght but not the way i am losing now. because of severe stress from her cheating after 11 years together i am no longer eating. which is odd because i usually eat when stressed. i have lost 20 lbs in 4 weeks,i know not healthy. i am using the food tracker to make sure to eat enough. man, that is strange coming out of my mouth!
i am scared of getting sick or worse getting diabetes from not eating much. my calorie intake has been under 800 cals per day. i need to get it up to at least 1200cals per day to get my metabolism on track. i have hypothyroidism.
