Hi! I'm 29 years old and have been up and down the scale several times since middle school. My heaviest was 265, but I lost it by working in a factory. Right now I have a very sedentary job and lifestyle and have had for several years. My husband says I could write a book with all the excuses I come up with; for instance, my current "excuse" for not exercising is that I have no time. I work 48 hours a week and go to college. Recently (since I joined SparkPeople) I have been trying to walk for at least 30 minutes when I get off work. So far I doing pretty good with it.

Hi, I'm 39, I'm French but I live and work in South-West China.
I've always been on the chubby side, but it's more than "chubby" now! I have tried losing weight and getting fit many times before, so I know I can't do this on my own, not in the long-run. I read about SP in one of the Success Stories of Shape magazine. Now that I've joined I find people's stories and comments all so positive and encouraging! I'm glad we can all share our journeys.
Good luck to everyone :-)

Thank you for the encouragement! I love this site. My family physician recommended it and I certainly see why. It is great!

HI, I am a grandmother of two teenagers, both boys. Just celebrated 50th anniversary with hubby on July 1st. My favorite hobby is , you guessed it, golf. Play in a senior group on Tuesdays and Thursdays, weather permitting. Have an aging mother with alzheimers and hubby who has had some problems with health lately, plus trying to settle an estate as executrix. The stress has aided in helping me to gain 13 lbs. since last Dr. visit. Dr suggested this web site for encouragement. I love the site!

Hi...came across this site when lookingn for a weight loss calendar/tracker. Decided to join as I've been losing the same 10-15lbs over and over again. Just 5 pounds from all-time high and I really don't want to set a new record! LOL. Plan on having a good time and learning more about health an nutrition on my journey back to the real me.

Hi! My name is Lindsay and I just joined like 15 mins ago. I heard about this site online and downloaded the ebook for my kindle. I have been trying for months now to jump start my weight loss and have failed. I started reading the book and found it to be promising. My husband is in the military and I am tired of being the Lieutenant's fat wife. Plus on a personal note, I want to be able to live a long and healthy life and not struggle like other members of my family. I just had my 24th birthday and by my 25th I want to be a better, healthier me. :)

Hi All

I joined the site on Monday evening after a big shock on the scales, I have been on a fast weight loss Diet (shakes and no food) in the past, yes I lost weight, but as soon as I came off the shakes and back onto normal food all the weight came back and am back to square one.

I now realise there is no quick miracle solution to losing my weight and instead I need to change my lifestyle and types of foods I eat and lose weight gradually, and so far enjoying the whole process and enjoying new tastes and foods from some of the recipes that are delicious and are still part of the new lifestyle (even entering foods into the tracker isn't too bad)

Really loving the site, here's to the start of my journey to a healthier lifestyle and hoping to make some friends here on the way.

take care and good luck everyone emoticon

Hi I 47 and just rejoined spark today. Thought I could stay motivated on my own and have found I can not. I have not been exercising like I was and am gaining weight again. I am motivated this time to stick with it. It has to be a lifetime change for life.

Hi everyone: I'm a 61 year old female that, as of two months ago, I was at my highest weight of 262#. I'm now enjoying a 13# loss (249# today) that I want to keep off and add to the loss. I retired a few years ago and a few weeks later my daughter died in a car accident. My grandchildren live with me now so I need to keep up with them and provide them with a happy and fulfilling life.

Healthwise I have gout, acid reflux (large hiatel hernia) and this week a pulled calf muscle that I don't know how I got. It's really stopped me from much walking. Every step is painful. I also have low blood iron. Going in hospital (outpatient) for a test Thursday. Anyway, this is a far cry from the distance runner I was just 5 years ago. Now I just watch the grandkids run and play sports.

I keep the grandkids pretty busy so I'm hoping to check this site at least daily so talk to people.

It is interesting what a diverse group??? We are all from different walks of life, but all striving to be all we can be. Whatever that means to each of us.

Personally I am in a battle for my life. The Drs say that I am in Stage 4 of Breast Cancer. That is only my current reality. I manifested this disease in my body temple, and I can take it out. Yes I am taking advantage of the best medical care that has been gracely provided by God My Source.

Seems prudent to me take my focus off the "C" word and focus it on MY well being...and reaching out to others to help them do the same...

ONWARD AND INWARD....I LIKE THAT... for our salvation is within, not without.

Hello everyone!

My wife and I are once again determined to get control of our weight and general health. I have come here from Ask Jeeves. I like this program because it is free. The next few days will be spent getting to know the features and some of the people on the site. As time goes on I will try to stay in touch with you with questions and comments about our progress.

Hello Everyone,

I started going to a gym awhile ago. I've become more aerobically fit and stronger but haven't lost any weight. I hope to get control of my eating and moods to help me with the rest.

Hi everyone! While I've been on Sparkpeople before, I'm back and feeling a flood of motivation that I never knew I had! I'm about 40 pounds over my goal weight and I'm ready to make changes in my life. I've been overweight for a long time and have always put everything else in my life first, and "me" last.

Three months ago, the love of my life and fiance passed away and I'm still trying to process it all. For years, we were overworked and not taking care of ourselves and he paid the ultimate price. I'm learning that my health and making time for exercise are VITAL to not only my body, but my happiness and self esteem. One huge part of my new life needs to be Sparkpeople and getting healthy (for so many reasons) and I also launched a blog (www.imbraycd.com) and joined Twitter as well. I'm trying to make something positive out of all this, as difficult as that may be...

I can't wait to lose weight and get healthy with all of you and be a part of this community again!

emoticon

I am blogging about my life transformations at www.imbraycd.com and tweeting on Twitter at @imbraycd

I guess I should have named myself What Cancer....I have used SP in the past, but have let things slide in my life the past 4 years or so. My husband has alcohol-related dementia and I attempted to care for him at home...the state stepped in when I couldn't stop his drinking. He is now in Assisted Living.

Now I find myself diganosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. I had my first chemo on Friday and thought I would be sick...NOT...there are so many precautions being taken, I feel fine. SOOOOOO if I am not going to loose the weight through chemo...I need to do what I know works..

I EXPECT to be one the minority that beats Cancer...the Drs refuse to do a mastecomy...so I see it as God saving my breast...now to just to get the rest of my body ready to enter into my 6th decade...

Hi! My name is Josette. I'm from Michigan and am a caregiver at a nursing home. This isn't my first time joining SparkPeople but it is the first time I've felt serious about losing the weight. I love the support system and tools that SparkPeople provides and can't wait to start seeing the pounds drop.

Hey there ! Sparkpeople is the place to be to find out that you "can" do this ! My name's Alison and I'm from Washington state. I'm a retired legal secretary and these days I'm home helping to take care of my LM (little ma'am) my little granddaughter who is the jewel of my eye.

I'm the mother of two grown children and LM belongs to my son. My dh is an over the road truck driver who delivers mostly groceries to your local stores. He's gone 4 wks and home for 2 days sometimes 3 depending upon the schedule. It's very hard at times but we make it through. We have the big picture in front of us and we know it won't last to long like this.

Family and friends are our core and we rely on and help eachother through it all.

I'm proud to be a sparker here to help everyone I can, it makes me feel good and I love doing it. If you need help, just ask !

Oh Great Spirit who dwells in the sky, lead us to the path of peace and understanding. Our lives are so short here, walking upon Mother Earth's surface. Let our eyes be opened to all the blessings you have given us. Please hear our prayers, oh Great Spirit.

Welcome to SparkPeople! I'm Missy and I'm from New Orleans. I'm a mother of four with only one child still living at home, my youngest, Melanie, 14. I'm a transcriptionist who works from home, something I've done for over 20 years. I work primarily for court reporters. I didn't work for quite a while post-Katrina and have recently returned to it and I am so loving it! My husband (who you may see around our SparkCommunity as CaptainCookie) is an executive chef turned ship captain. He works out in the Gulf of Mexico 28 days at a time and is then home for 14 days. It's a difficult schedule in some ways but wonderful in others. Family, friends and our faith in God are the foundations of our lives. SparkPeople has taught us so much about working toward healthier lives and it is now a very big part of our lives, for which we are most grateful. Please ask if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help!

~Missy~
